"Alright, everyone, put your wands next to your dominant hand, have a notebook and pen for notes on the other side. Place ink bottles, cups, and other liquid-holding containers into your drawer. I don't want to hear any screams about spilled drinks..."
"Peter Parker, what are you still stunned for? The class is about to start, please return to your seat."
The robed Schiller gently pointed his magic wand at the far left position. Still in shock, Peter turned his head towards another Schiller holding a file. At this moment, Strange pulled aside another Schiller, saying, "Don't disturb his class, let's go outside to talk."
"Hey! But... no, don't leave! Explain to me, what's going on? How can there be two Dr. Schillers... uh, quit it, I'll go sit down right now." Peter turned back while moving his legs, being drawn involuntarily towards his nearby seat.
"Alright, now I'm going to teach you about wands. Pick up the small stick next to you. Yes, that's right, I call it a wand."
"Professor, can it perform magic?" A wizard apprentice, looking somewhat like a little monk, raised his hand to ask.
"Of course, when you don't yet have a strong hold on magic, it would be your best partner." Potions Professor Schiller nodded.
"But the grand mages all say that magic should not rely on external objects, but on mental cultivation?" Another little girl raised her hand and asked.
"That's correct. For grand mages, indeed, they have perfected their control over magic, they just need to cultivate their will to command magic at will." Schiller nodded, showing patience. Then he continued:
"The grand mages ask you to strengthen your willpower because, in the last era, the acquisition of magical power required a pact with a demon god. Without a strong will, you are likely to be influenced by the dark power of the demon god, potentially misusing magic to harm this world."
The apprentices downstairs started whispering amongst each other. Peter looked left and right, only to realize that he was the oldest one in the entire class.
"But now..." Schiller changed the topic, "The traditional pact model is still applicable, but it's considered outdated. Currently, the magical energy used by Kamar-Taj doesn't require a one-to-one pact between an individual mage and a demon god, which has increased the safety factor significantly."
"However, this does not mean that you can learn to use them as soon as you touch magic. Many powers are still extremely dangerous. The small sticks in your hands, however, store purified energy that has been repeatedly refined by grand mages. Once you learn to utilize them, you take the first step in learning magic..."
Suddenly, Peter raised his hand to ask, "Professor, what if I already have magic energy in me?"
"Pick up your wand, start meditating, and feel the energy fluctuations, then infuse the energy in your body into it... that's right, just like that, don't hold too tight, relax your wrist..."
Peter closed his eyes, and a glow appeared on his hand. Energy surged into his magic wand. He opened his eyes, looked at the small stick in his hand, and asked, "Is that all? But how do I cast spells?"
"Come, everyone, look at me." Schiller knocked on the lectern with his magic wand, "I was just about to talk about that. Gently pick up your wands with your dominant hands. You can use your thumb and index finger, others are accustomed to holding the wand between the index and middle fingers…"
The young wizards below followed suit. Since the young wizards here are all selectively gifted talents, they not only have excellent prowess but also excellent concentration.
Unknown to himself, Peter was engulfed in an atmosphere of learning, and began practicing wand movements and spells following Schiller.
Then, Peter found that as long as the vocal frequency of the incantation and the wand movement was coordinated, magic can be cast.
This is much easier to understand than philosophical explanations like destiny.
Discovering a more scientific method to use magical power, Peter began to resist learning magic less. His physical coordination is much better than these younger mages so his gesture learning is speedy. Within less than ten minutes, he could cast the first spell.
Peter swung lightly the magic wand in his hand, and the wand's tip drew a beautiful arc in the air. Immediately he lifted it up and shouted the magic incantation:
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
The paper on the table gently floated up. Peter widened his eyes, showing an expression of novelty. The wand emitted a faint glow, and a beam of light connected the wand's tip with the paper.
Peter found that the wand was actually just a tool with a pre-set program. As long as the corresponding gesture and spell are used, the program within can be activated to turn magical energy into a spell.
There is nothing mystical about this process, and it does not require much imagination or speculation. Even young mages can master it after practising.
After Peter learned the basics of the initial spells, ideas began to pop up in his mind.
If this little stick can implement the conversion of magical energy into a spell, then can a larger machine be designed to turn more magical energy into a more powerful spell?
If so, can anyone cast magic as long as they have energy?
Peter, whose head was full of thoughts about cutting costs and lowering thresholds, felt that he had opened up a new world.
As Peter was pondering, his super hearing came into play. He heard the voices of Strange and Shearer outside the door:
"...Haven't three of me already gone over there? Nick is still short of people over there, what exactly does he want to do?"
"He says, at least five of you are needed. The Solar System construction project has drained almost all S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, he hasn't even finished his accounts for this quarter, and he even wants to take my people..."
The tone of Strange was full of helplessness, he continued, "Honestly, can't we have ten more of you? I don't demand that all of them have magic, they just need to be able to give lectures..."
"As you know, currently, the energy in Kamar-Taj is abundant, no price must be paid. Wong has completely unleashed himself and recruited, there are still many genius children in this world. He recruited more than 100 in one breath..."
"Some of the exceptionally talented children, guided by a grand mage, are learning magic in a traditional way. The rest are assigned to me. However, the first batch of magic wands has just been made, ordinary mages can't use it yet. Only you have experience. Considering there are already so many of you, having a dozen more won't be excessive, right?"
"Do you think this is copy and paste?" The voice of Shearer came again, "Each 'me' from the dream universe has uniqueness. That I can teach them how to use the magic wand is because in that dream, I was already a professor at a magic school. If you bring others from there, they wouldn't know to use the magic wand any more than the ordinary mages do..."
This series of "me" made Peter's head spin, he completely couldn't comprehend the current situation. Are the two Shearers not the limit? Are there countless more Shearers waiting outside?
He must be dreaming, yes, only in dreams would such absurd things happen, Peter shook his head vigorously, as if trying to wake himself up, but right at this moment, his spider-sense tingled.
Peter focused and heard a string-plucking "da-da" sound. He knew it was the spider silk contacting him. He took a deep breath, cleared his mind of stray thoughts, then whispered, "Spider silk, what's going on?"
"Spider-Man...come back quickly... back to the base, Captain Universe said there's a situation, hurry back..."
Peter instantly snapped back to reality, he saw the fleeing little wizards after class, shook his head, stood up, greeted Shearer on the podium, and then left the classroom.
"Hey, Mr. Strange, could you please send me back to New York, I have some things to do." Peter shouted at the leaving Strange.
Strange turned back, looked at Peter, seeming to have noticed something, he asked, "Do you need my help?"
"Yes, open a portal for me, I can handle the rest." After Peter finished, as if he remembered something, he quickly ran back to the classroom and picked up the magic wand on the desk, he asked, "Can I take this with me?"
"Of course you can, but remember, there's more than just ordinary assistance magic in the magic wand, there's also some lethal magic, be careful, don't hurt anyone... Forget it, Peter, I trust you." Strange pat Peter on the shoulder.
"Rest assured, Professor Shearer has already told me before, I've remembered all the spells, absolutely won't confuse them." Peter nodded.
Strange opened the portal, with a flash of light, Peter was back on the streets of New York, he looked left and right to discern direction, then headed in one way.
Not long after, he saw another swinging figure in the air, the Amazing Spiderman landed on the rooftop of a building, Peter immediately followed suit. Before he could speak, the Amazing Spiderman started, "Did you receive the communication from Spider Silk? There seems to be some situations on their end."
"With Dr. Octavius Parker and me not present, the Spider-Men are like a dragon without a head. If they are ambushed, the consequences would be unthinkable. We better go back first."
Peter nodded and said, "I still have quite a bit of magic energy on me, but it can only be used for time travel one last time. Moreover, I am not sure where the landing point will be after getting back. Anyway, let's get prepared."
The two Spider-Men first replenished the ingredients for their Spider Silk Launchers and made some restorations to regain strength. Then, Peter placed his hand on the Amazing Spiderman's shoulder. With a flash of magic glow, the two returned to their original timeline.
The landing point of the time travel was random. The two landed in a desolate universe space where there was not even a star, only two isolated and inhospitable planets.
The Amazing Spiderman took out the transmitter that Dr. Octavius Parker had given him before. Before he could activate the transmission, a figure emitting white glow descended into this space. The Captain Universe Spider-Man looked at the two of them and said, "You guys have finally returned. Everybody is waiting for you."
"What exactly is going on? Why did Spider silk suddenly send us an urgent message? Didn't she mention before that she had a headache because the communications were too frequent? Did something urgent happen?"
Captain Universe Spider-Man nodded and said, "Perhaps, you guys know that my power comes from one of the Multiverse Gods, Eternity."
"Just now, my soul received the summons from Eternity. He has assigned me a task, which required all Spider-Men to complete. As a reward, he will help us erase Solus."
The Amazing Spiderman widened his eyes and said, "Eternity? Who is he? Is he powerful? Can he actually wipe out Solus?"
"Of course, Solus' power is nothing compared to him. As long as we can complete that task, the Successor Family will never harm Spider-man again."
"That's great news indeed. But what task did he assign?"
"Travel through the multiverse and capture all Shearers."
