Walking up behind her, he slid his arms around her and drew her back against his chest. "Let's get involved, Rayne," he said with desperation in his voice.

"Thanks for the offer," she said politely, "but I'm no longer interested in cheating on my boyfriend. it's better to leave things just as they are." She tried to move away from his hold but he tightened his grip on her to keep her still.

Ignoring her little struggles to free herself from him, Liam pressed his lips to the top of her head and whispered, "Chant your incantations and put me under your spell lovely witch, but don't push me away like that again."

He didn't know what he was doing, but the fact that she had defended her boyfriend a while ago made him feel like she'd put a barricade between them and was setting boundaries that wouldn't be crossed again if he agreed to settle for just being her friend.
