ANISHA NORA

Her jaw dropped in shock at my words, but she recovered enough and nodded in acceptance. 

 "You're loyal to Old Man Odwolf, hence expect the same as I hand over the project to you and Zeeb. Conri agreed to work for us and I would say that we are damn lucky. Elder Zaya will provide the team that will assist Conri in this project. " 

"What about the KODA council stand? " Anisha asked, her face filled with worry.

"Conri will remain in the Freki Lands that surround the mountains hence we shall abide by the KODA council's rules" 

"I am worried," Anisha admitted in a huff

"About what?" My eyes bore at her in question.

"About how reckless you want to get. I know about Freki's agreement with the KODA council. And I remember how your pa was heartbroken when your ma died and he made me promise to keep you out of trouble. But you want to wade in murky waters and take the bull's horns head-on, " Anisha seethed. 

"I am just a businessman who wants to build a resort, "

"Sorry sir, that is not it. Everyone is still shocked because you defied Alpha Lobo in front of the whole pack. And to make it worse, you were friendly towards Exiled Conri Dolf," 

It pleased me that she had dropped the name Rogue before mentioning Conri's name.

I stood up and strolled to the office window and stared at the view of the Alaska mountains. 

"I will be honest with you. I visited Conri over the weekend at his cabin in the mountains," 

"You- "Anisha ran her hand through her hair in frustration. "You went and returned?" 

"Yes," I grinned like a fool. 

"How? No one came back to normal after visiting his mountains. All the hunters were petrified and could not remember what happened. The KODA council labeled him a monster. "Anisha walked over to stand by the windows.

"How many people have they sent since he was exiled?" 

"For the past fifteen years, they have sent over hundreds of enforcers. Even the strongest ones came back petrified and could not remember what happened. How did you make it back unhurt?" Anisha chuckled.

"Why would I be hostile toward him? I have no bad intentions and there was no need for him to chase me away. "

"I doubt it," Anisha shook her head. 

I held back from telling her the truth and said, "He agreed to work with us at the resort. He will be coming for the plans at the foot of the mountain in seven days. So we need to speed up the drawing plans for the resort and then share them with him for approval."

Anisha opened her mouth to speak, and I interjected, "He will pick the drawing plans at old man Benjamin's pub that is at the foot of the mountain" 

"Oh," Anisha laughed, "You thought this through," 

"Yes. There can't be any mistakes that would allow anyone to criticize Due Corporation. That is why I want you and Zeeb to be thorough about this. Money is not an issue since Elder Zaya and I will inject the capital in with a fifty-fifty share. " 

"Noted. I promise not to let you down," Anisha promised. 

"Thank you, Anisha, "I replied with a warm smile. 

She stood in silence waiting for her to speak her mind and she did not disappoint." Why have you never asked about me and your pa? All these years you have never prodded about this topic and I have been walking on eggshells.`` 

"I will not ask unless you tell me," I responded. 

"You heard the rumors, right?" She whispered. 

"By now, you know I don't believe shit in rumors. I prefer to deal with people directly," I affirmed.

She swallowed hard and said, "I owe you an explanation, Lucian"

"Not now. When you are ready, come to me. No pressure. Just as you had Pa's support. I will always support you too. " I assured her. 

There was a knock at the door, and Zeeb walked in. His steps faltered while his eyes darted between Anisha's and then back to me. "CEO Lucian, sorry to interrupt. Are you busy, or should I come back later?" His voice croaked and the blush from Anisha's cheeks was evident. 

I could see how awkward Zeeb and Anisha looked at each other. Before I could utter a word, Anisha Interrupted "Thank you, CEO Lucian. I will get working on everything right away, "she said as she walked over to my desk and picked up the file she had given me. I watched the way Zeeb's eyes bore at her as she hurriedly walked out of my office and closed the door. 

When Zeeb turned to look at me, I could not help but grin while I pointed out, "Anisha is your mate!"

"Shut up Lucian, "Zeeb muttered. 

"How can the two of you just dance around each other? How long has it been? "I demanded. 

Zeeb closed his eyes in frustration "Lucian, I need you to sit this one out"

"Why?" I walked over and placed an arm on his shoulder and his eyes snapped open. 

"It's complicated," He whispered. 

I stared at him, and his eyes showed how vulnerable he was. 

"You are wrong Zeeb. Anisha never had a relationship with my father. He only educated her and gave her a home" 

"Are you sure?" He whispered.

"Trust me," I stated. Pa was not that kind of person and hence I hurriedly hired Anisha. The only information I did not have were the conditions that she stipulated for Pa to agree to educate her and give her an apartment.

"I have been holding back because of this," Zeeb confessed. 

"Why did you not ask me?" I questioned him. 

"How would I even start?" He rolled his eyes. 

"Anisha is tough, and she seemed to have gone through a lot. You need to be careful not to hurt her. I will protect her as a little sister. "My voice was filled with concern.

Zeeb pushed his hand away and then took a step back. "Lucian, I would never hurt my mate. That is a promise I am willing to stand by words"
