Dede stood in front of the prison cell, staring at the place in horror, the stench making him wrinkle his nose. His gaze shifted to Ife, who stood at the door, shrugging and tilting her head but saying nothing.
"Why?" he mouthed, trying not to let his voice be heard.
Ife raised her brow. "You should question Jelani," she said, then sighed. "This is murder. This is the prison where she was meant to be."
Dede inhaled, his jaw clenched, an anger emitting from him that he was trying to suppress. Meka shouldn't be here; it was unfair.
"I need to speak to her alone," he said.
Ife stared at him with an open mouth before giving him a nod. "I will keep watch outside. It was hard enough to bring you in here. Make it quick."
With that, the door closed behind Dede. As he turned to enter the cell, the other inmates shook their heads and watched him.
