Honkai Impact 3 was finally here! People were so excited because they'd been waiting forever. And it wasn't just because the game looked awesome – Schicksal had been advertising it like crazy.
Seriously, the ads were everywhere. One guy in Antarctica almost fell into a hole because an ad popped up out of nowhere! When he got back to camp, he complained about how annoying Schicksal's marketing was.
Even though people weren't excited about all the ads, they were still super excited for the game. Beautiful girls, cool mechs...who could resist? They decided to ignore the ads and focus on the fun they'd have playing.
The Honkai Impact III website was a huge hit, getting over ten million visits! People loved checking out all the new characters like Kiana Kaslana, Raiden Mei, Bronya Zaychik, Murata Himeko, and Theresa Apocalypse.
Most people just thought the girls were super pretty and looked way cooler than the old Homu stuff.
Even Tesla, who was a cool Mecha lover, bluntly said, "If she led a Mecha to face such an enemy, she herself could only surrender, right?"
You know, she's a huge fan of the Anti-Entropy Mecha, and even she said that...
And those who were familiar with Honkai looked at it...
"What the hell, isn't that Theresa? She's in the game too?" Tesla sprayed a mouthful of water onto the blue Mophead across the room, her expression full of shock.
Dr. Einstein just wiped the water off her face and didn't even get mad.
"That's obvious, Dr. Tesla. More than caring about that, how's the flying Mecha F-126 you made, if this keeps up we won't even talk about going to Schicksal to strut our stuff, Schicksal will almost forget there's even an organization called Anti Entropy."
"It's almost done!" Tesla exclaimed. She quickly checked over the parts.
"Wings, engine, missiles... Okay, it's ready! The F-126 flying mech is officially complete!"
"Let's start it up!" Tesla excitedly pressed the red button.
"10! 9! 8!..."
"Did it work?" Einstein asked.
"Yes... Wait, no! That's the emergency explosion warning! Run, Mophead!" Dr. Tesla grabbed some important stuff and ran outside.
Einstein sighed as she followed Tesla, saying, "Well, at least you put a warning signal on it this time. Remember last week when your experiment filled the lab with dust?"
"But I checked everything twice!" Tesla insisted. "There's no way it could fail!"
"That's what you said last time," Einstein reminded her just as a loud explosion rocked the lab. Einstein decided to put off her visit to Schicksal and give up on the troublesome mech project.
Meanwhile, Gray Serpent wondered why the game included the Valkyries of St. Freya. He thought about Schicksal's plans and even briefly considered the crazy idea that they were making a game about the future of the world. But he shook that thought off and decided to send Raven to St. Freya to find out more.
Gray serpent examined a picture of a stone that members of the World Serpent had discovered in the ruins of previous civilization. He recognized it as one of the Herrscher Cores from the former civilization, and a spark of excitement flashed in his eyes. "But any further moves would be pointless! For, the serpent will soon emerge from the darkness!" he declared.
In another place, Kallen was on a video call with Luo Mo, who wanted to add even more characters to the game. "So, Himeko and Theresa aren't enough? You want both Anti-Entropy scientist, Rita and Durandal, too?" she asked, sounding shocked.
"Well, actually...there's more," Luo Mo admitted, embarrassed.
"Oh, really? More?" Kallen's voice was full of sarcasm. She was already spending a lot of money on publicity, and now Luo Mo wanted even more characters – two of them not even from Schicksal.
"Yes, we're also thinking about adding Welt, who leads Anti-Entropy, Gray Serpent and Raven from World Serpent, and of course Kevin..."
Kallen abruptly ended the call, her annoyance palpable. "What was he thinking? I'm a Schicksal Bishop, not a wish-granting machine," she muttered under her breath.
Even though she was frustrated, Kallen decided to wait and see how the game turned out. The Schicksal Research Institute had liked Luo Mo's concept for a Stigmata called 'Hannah', but they wouldn't tell her how it was going. From what they said, it didn't sound like they'd have anything to show for it anytime soon.
Kallen had a tough job: creating a game based on the demands of someone from outside World.
Seeing the images in the promotional video, she was kind of convinced it was showing a parallel world.
But the demands were getting to her, pushing her to her breaking point.
The World Serpent seemed like a powerful secret organization. Kallen decided to focus on getting in touch with them first. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined. As for Anti-Entropy, it was time to stop fighting with them. She had faith in Einstein (poor Tesla), and her eyes shone with determination.
...
In Himeko's villa at St. Freya, she pointed at the official website and exclaimed, "Wow, he really made you into a game character, Theresa!"
The new Valkyrie on the screen was Theresa Apocalypse, with white hair, blue eyes, and a long ponytail. She wore a black and white nun's uniform and the Apocalypse family crest on her chest.
The name below her read: Valkyrie-Pledge.
The evaluation: White hair, short legs, not very tall; cute, intelligent(?) intellectually deficient.
Of course, this last part wasn't on the official website – it was a special message just from Luo Mo.
"Hmph, Himeko, aren't you in the game too?" Theresa asked, looking a little jealous.
"You're the one who gave it away for free!"
"Yeah, that's me when I was younger," Himeko said, ignoring Theresa's teasing. "I didn't realize it had been so long."
She sighed a little, thinking about how much time had passed.
When Theresa let her guard down, the white-haired girl hugged her and rubbed against her.
"So, Theresa, when will you grow?"
"Ahhhhh! Himeko, let go of me!" Theresa struggled in her arms, the movement making her even more flustered.
"Get off!" Theresa yelled, her face turning red.
In a dorm room, Kiana excitedly called to Mei, "Mei Mei, the game's starting! Come look!" She pulled Mei over to the screen, wrapping her arms around her shoulders and resting her head against Mei's.
Dark purple and pure white hair mingled as Bronya watched the pair, a hint of helplessness in her eyes.
"Okay, Kiana, I'm not watching? Stop leaning on me." Mei petted the white-haired groupie favorably.
"No, no, no."
"The game's about to start, Idiot Kiana!"
"3!"
"2!"
"1! Go!"
