Chapter 23: Turning the Tables _1

Yun Chi, for the first time in his life, stood frozen on the spot.

He glanced at the bloodstain on his sleeve and then at Hua Yan's fingers, stained red. In that moment, his ears began to redden, and the flush slowly crept up his handsome face.

It was her menstruation!

He moved his lips but, under Hua Yan's smiling gaze, he found himself unable to speak.

Suddenly Hua Yan, unable to contain her amusement, wrapped herself in her thin blanket and burst into laughter. Her laughter rang out like silver bells, her body shaking like fluttering flower petals.

Yun Chi looked at her, and a rush of blood surged to his chest.

After laughing for a while, Hua Yan pointed at him and said, "The Crown Prince himself, looking so utterly dumbfounded and silly – today has truly been an eye-opener!" With no courtesy whatsoever in her teasing, she added, "Don't you even know what menstruation is, for women?"
