Our tongues entwine

Chris pulled out a chair and settled into it, ready to enjoy his breakfast. As he picked up his fork, he turned to Suzy and inquired about her decision.

"You're welcome to come to my company, but please refrain from engaging in any immoral behavior while you're there," Suzy stated calmly, as she began eating her meal.

"I haven't initiated any immoral actions so far," Chris remarked, skillfully slicing his omelet.

Suzy fixed a penetrating gaze on him in response. "Yesterday, you walked in with a bottle of alcohol early in the morning," she pointed out, her voice carrying a note of anger.

"Would that even be considered immoral?" Chris chuckled wryly, savoring a bite of his omelet. "I wanted to give you a toast of winning. You succeeded in marrying the heir of the Onetti Family," he asserted.

Suzy's eyebrows knitted together at his remark. "Aren't you proud to be married to a woman like me?" she commented, her voice tinged with a justified sense of pride.

Lionel and Doris exchanged knowing glances, clearly impressed by Suzy's commanding attitude.

"I must admit, it's quite the honor to be wed to a woman as valuable as a gold dagger," Chris retorted, his annoyance evident in his expression. He raised a glass of freshly poured pomegranate juice and added, "But I wonder, is there anything you wouldn't do for the right price?"

Suzy's appetite waned at his inquiry, as he seemed to be questioning her character directly. His words were like an accusatory finger pointed at her character.

"Young Master Chris, please refrain from using such words toward the Young Mistress," Lionel intervened and asked him to be respectful toward his own wife.

With a steely glare, Chris fixed his eyes on Lionel as the knife scraped across the plate's bare surface, producing an unsettling, sharp noise.

"Lionel, keep your nose out of my affairs. Your role here is to serve, so stick to that. Don't attempt to take on the roles of my grandfather," he uttered, his words carrying a sting. Though his words hurt Lionel, he had grown accustomed to such interactions.

Meanwhile, Suzy grasped the juice glass and took a sip. Just as Chris was about to leave his seat, Suzy intervened. Swiftly rising from her own chair, she reached out and gently held his hand. "You and I are going together," she asserted.

"No!" Chris forcefully pulled his hand away. "I won't accompany you. If you want me to be at that college, then it's best you divorce me," he declared.

"In this life, you are not getting a divorce from me, Chris," Suzy affirmed and again grabbed his hand. "I may have to ask Grandpa to freeze your cards to make you dependent on me. I believe he will listen to me," she confidently pronounced.

"Do whatever you want to do," Chris yanked her hand away from his grip and he strode past her.

Suzy ran after him and found him entering his car, which already was outside. But how? Shaking that thought off her mind, she quickly stood in front of the door of the driver's seat, thus preventing Chris from going in.

"Step aside," Chris demanded.

"Not a chance," Suzy retorted with a determined gaze.

"Alright then. I'll head to the college if you give me a kiss right now," Chris declared, a smirk playing on his lips. He was fully aware that Suzy would choose death than give in to his demand.

"That's not going to happen," Suzy stated.

"I knew it. So, step away," Chris demanded again.

"No," Suzy countered.

"Fine. Then kiss me," Chris teased, puckering his lips playfully.

Suzy clenched her fingers in frustration. Dealing with Chris was undoubtedly one of the most challenging tasks she'd encountered. She now understood why Arthur had cautioned her to think thoroughly before accepting his proposal. Giving in to a kiss now would likely lead to Chris demanding more from her.

But had she any other way to take him to the college?

Observing her contemplative silence, Chris leaned in closer, their breaths nearly mingling. Suzy's eyes flickered as she instinctively placed her hands on his firm chest, attempting to push him away.

Just then, his deep whisper reached her ears, sending a shiver down her spine. "Let me introduce a new condition. Not just a fleeting kiss, but a passionate one where our tongues entwine."

Feeling trapped, Suzy resolved not to yield to this new demand of his. Without saying a word, she stepped aside, allowing him to pass.

Chris grinned, a victorious expression on his face as he entered his sleek sports car. The window lowered, and he turned his head to gaze at her.

"Had another woman been in your position, she would have willingly kissed me," he taunted. "Have a beautiful day, my dear wife. I'll certainly be seeing you this evening," he added with a smirk, pressing the accelerator as the car swiftly disappeared from her view.

Suzy crossed her arms across her chest when Lionel's voice reached her ears. "Young Mistress, this is the key to the car Master Arthur has gifted for you," Lionel informed as he handed the keys to the new electric car to Suzy. Before she could refuse it, Lionel told her Arthur gave it as a gift to his daughter-in-law.

Suzy smiled to hear that and lowered her hand. "Chris didn't go to college. Grandpa won't be happy about this," she stated.

"The Young Mistress did her best today," Lionel said, asking her not to feel low.

"Are you alright, Lionel? Chris talked quite rudely to you," Suzy said with a worried tone.

"I am used to this. Please do not be worried about this," Lionel asserted. "Young Master Chris became rebellious a year before his mother turned sick. He was six at that time. From then onward, his behavior wasn't humble toward anyone," he briefed Suzy.

"What about his stepmother? Did she not take care of him?" Suzy was curious to know.

"Chris never let his father and stepmother get close to him. Master Arthur asked them to live separately since Chris demanded for it," Lionel said.

Suzy hummed as she finally found the reason behind Chris's toxic and rebellious behavior.
