Auntie Cui, the caregiver, had just sent the visitors off when she saw Jiang Yi standing not far away.
"Auntie Cui," Jiang Yi called out sweetly.
"Xiao Yi? Is that you, Xiao Yi? Oh my, my precious Nannan, you've finally come back!"
Auntie Cui had been taking care of Grandfather for over ten years and had practically watched Jiang Yi grow up, doting on her as if she were her own daughter. She quickly took the suitcase from Jiang Yi's hand and gave her a thorough once-over, saying with a touch of heartache, "You've lost weight, your little face is almost smaller than a palm now."
"Auntie Cui, I haven't lost weight; in fact, I have gained a tiny bit."
As they were talking, Elder Jiang heard them and came out from inside.
Having lived in the military for most of his life, the old gentleman, despite being over 70, still had an upright posture. Other than his whitened hair, he was in very good spirits.
"Grandfather."
Jiang Yi, without even thinking, ran towards her grandfather.
Though he was accustomed to being stern, the sight of his granddaughter in his arms made him unable to suppress a smile, and though his mouth betrayed him with a jest, "You little rascal, coming home only after you've roamed enough outside to remember your grandfather."
Jiang Yi just kept giggling.

Jiang Yi slept for three days before she finally got over her jet lag.
On Saturday morning, right after breakfast, she received a call from He Gu.
On the phone, He Gu said, "Wanna hang out, Jiang Yi? I've gathered a few buddies to welcome you back. Shall we meet at our usual spot?"
"Not today, I need to go to the West Suburb Racecourse."
"What for? Riding horses?"
Gazing at Elder Chief Jiang beside her, who was attentively polishing a new saddle with deer skin, she spoke into the phone, "My grandfather received a new Tack as a gift from a friend a few days ago and says he wants to try it out today. He's insisting that I accompany him."
"Nonsense! You volunteered willingly," Elder Chief's ears weren't the least bit dull, and he immediately retorted.
Jiang Yi quickly conceded, "Right, you're right, I volunteered willingly, I volunteered willingly."
Elder Chief still wasn't satisfied and turned to Jiang Yi, "Speaking of which, invite that little monkey He Gu as well, it's been many years since he last rode; I need to check his Equestrian skills."
He Gu was whining over the phone.
Back in the day, both Jiang Yi's and He Gu's Equestrian skills had been personally taught by Elder Chief, and they had both endured their fair share of riding crop lashings for their imperfect posture.
Now that Elder Chief had spoken, there was no way He Gu could refuse, so he reluctantly joined Jiang Yi in declaring "voluntarily".

At the entrance of the Racecourse, as soon as Jiang Yi and Elder Chief arrived, someone came out to greet them.
The person who came to greet them was a slightly chubby middle-aged man with very short hair and a shrewd face.
He strode forward and, after shaking hands with Elder Chief, said respectfully, "I'm really sorry, Elder Chief Jiang, our Director Wen had a bit of an emergency to deal with unexpectedly, but he'll be here soon. I'll take you in first."
Elder Chief Jiang, with his dignified demeanor, replied, "No trouble, I understand young people are busy with work. Then I'll trouble you, Assistant Kang."
Assistant Kang was quick to bow and bend over, "Elder Chief, you're too polite. You're an elder, just call me Xiao Kang."
Elder Chief Jiang nodded and followed Assistant Kang inside.
The Racecourse was impressive, stretching out about the size of 4 or 5 football fields, and because it had rained the night before, the tips of the green grass still glistened with water droplets.
Within the Racecourse, several chestnut horses were casually tossing their manes around while professional Horse Trainers wielded their long whips and blew their whistles, making the scene intensely exhilarating.
Jiang Yi was taken by a staff member to the changing room, where Tack and Riding clothes had already been prepared for her.
When she came out of the changing room, the Racecourse staff were nearly spellbound.
Jiang Yi was simply too beautiful, with a slender waist and long legs, her skin so white and smooth. The brown Riding clothes paired with white trousers, black Riding boots on her feet, her un-dyed hair tied in a ponytail that fell from under her Riding Cap, and her lively, large eyes casually glancing around – she attracted not only the men but even the envious glances of women.
She reached out to Elder Chief, "Grandfather, let me help you onto the horse."
