Source

In the cave depths, Boss Wang was certain they were at the place with what he needed, but the problem was that the danger level was very high.

The fog around them had become too thick but the source of the fog seemed to be what he was looking at in the moment. In the distance, he could see something he recognized, and other than having a solemn look, his face showed some excitement. This was a blue pyramid with a height of ten inches, with a round object resembling a massive celestial star in the middle with a dark hole in the center.

It was standing on some rock and from the way it was situated, it was apparent it had collapsed, which was the reason for all this fog spreading.

Even though it seemed more of a design, the feeling it gave those who set their eyes on it was that it was real. Looking at the object, Boss Wang could barely hold himself back, "Source!" He yelled out.

Hearing the words from his mouth the others were puzzled, but he did not seem to be in the mood to explain anything. This gain was big, but he was not sure whether he could stop the fog from spreading. More importantly, the cause of the object being activated was a mystery. Whoever the culprit was, they might be dangerous.

Based on the information he had read, in places where the source is obtained, a danger beyond others' control. In the past, it was said that other than fighting to get the source, something else happened, that almost led to the use of banned hot weapons.

This already shows that the competition seemed to have escalated to the point of other countries also getting involved. In this moment though, he was not interested in remembering those rumors, the most important thing was how to move the object. Looking at the back he had carried with him, he was certain it might indeed do the trick, but at the moment he had to find a way to approach it.

"That thing is our target, but it is risky to approach it. More importantly, once we obtain it, it will be a tough journey back." What he meant in the end, was something that they all understood, after all seeing the fog being released by the object, they could guess it was valuable.

None of them were fools, if anyone tried to steal this object, then the outcome would be a fate worse than death. After all, this is something that the other strong organizations are capable of making even the strongest military forces work under the desire to control.

The fact that they were sent to such a place to locate it or any other related objects would tell a lot. In the end, even Supervisor Wang, that had ideas seemed to have come to a realization and put away his weird thoughts. He was well aware that his identity would not help him much once the object was identified.

The situation would be different once they left the zone, out there it would become a competition between nations and thus he might survive. Thinking of this, his plans changed too, as he was not the most suitable person to move the object out.

It has not been once but more than thrice that the source has led to large-scale conflicts. Only those who are naive would think that humans have become civilized as such did not start wars. Wars happen all the time, and if one never experienced them, then they are located in a place that has no value for others, or those in charge strong enough.

In the moment he made up his mind, he looked through the men that they had come out with and sighed.

"Captain Wei! It seems that we have to make some arrangements before getting out of this place with the object." He seemed to have already thought of the perfect strategy.

"This object is very important and those that have come to explore this fog would be willing to start wars over it. For those of us who are involved, the higher-ups will not spare our lives if this object falls into the hands of foreigners. In that case, when we leave this place each of us will have to take a small team and separate to confuse the others just in case." He had already decided to let someone else move the object.

The only problem was, that he was not going to give it to anyone in this team. All of them were going to act as a decoy, and with that, he approached the object under the protection of the soldiers they came with.

Unlike the other three soldiers that came with them, the captain was sure that what Boss Wang said was the truth.

Their lives belonged to the higher-ups and in cases where such missions are involved, it is best to find a way to send the object out of the fog. When Supervisor Wang calmed down he seemed to think a lot and remembered something about the source. He was going to have to try and see if the fog would stop being released once he attempted it before they could leave, otherwise regardless of the person that took the source out, they would be a walking target.

The plan was good in his head, but he was not sure if it would work, as such he was gonna have to try it first. When he approached the object the soldiers seemed to be just as nervous too. It was impossible to tell what was hiding nearby waiting for them to approach, but it seemed that they were thinking too much.

The object had indeed some creatures approach from time to time, but at the moment, they had left the vicinity. With the weapons the four were carrying, it would be easy to handle the situation.

"Be careful!" Boss Wang reminded everyone as they slowly approached the source. He did not put his sight on the object for long, as though he was avoiding something. He put forward his hands which were covered in some unique gloves.

He then moved his hands around the object but still did not find any way to deal with it, except for the course surface that seemed to be inscriptions. It was however not observed by him, he already learned that the information on the source is usually not written in a known language.

More than that, the source was dangerous especially if one got engrossed trying to observe what was written on them, they might collapse. When one passes out, then the object would end up switching hands, even at the moment he had blocked before the soldiers, and did not warn them.

Human nature is very easy for someone like him to gauge, and telling others not to look just prompts them to want to see even more. It would become a hustle if those who were supposed to be providing him with protection eventually became a burden.

At that time, he would only be the one to blame for saying something he should have not.

With his hand moving around the object, he eventually seemed to get what he wanted. With his hand exerting some force, on the source. it seemed to separate at the bottom. but instead of making any noise, something fell from it and he did not even notice it.

The fog seemed too thick but after that, the separated area closed itself off. It ended up gaining or shifting to new patterns. The patterns also made the object stop producing fog.

Collecting some objects from the bag, resembled some foil, but the material that was used to make it was unique. After raping around the source, he moved it into a bag and decisively retreated.

When they walked out, the fog seemed to have been affected, but the impact was not immediate. They however managed to feel this impact instantly due to being at the very core.

Supervisor Wang looked back, and without wasting time continued to move away while the others covered his rear. The captain on the other hand seemed to observe for any troubles that might come from the front.

It did not take them long to arrive at the camp that had set. Since they had made up their mind, the Captain ordered everyone to pack up and retreat, according to the plans. From the group that had been left behind, the object was entrusted to someone who did not go with them in the depths of the fog.

Indeed things seemed to work like that, but after covering the distance halfway back, the fog seemed to be thinking too fast. Some areas were starting to be clear, and the terrain was much easier to traverse. The only problem in the moment was that they would be targetted by others.
