Chapter 44: Kamar Taj

Once Law decided that he had to learn magic, he packed some of his stuff to go to Kamar Taj, New York branch.

The Ancient one would teleport herself there to meet him he was sure of that so he didn't have to go to Nepal's Kamar Taj.

He was also pretty sure that the ancient one would teach him. He had the perfect deal for her.

Ancient one drew power from the Dark Dimension, thanks to it she was able to prolong her lifespan beyond regular humans, although she needs to constantly tap into the power of the Dark Dimension to keep fueling her long life and as this form of immortality only suppresses the aging process.

She is also weakened by her use of power from the Dark Dimension; the standard rule for magic in Marvel is that the use of a power from a given grantor (e.g. Dormamu, here) gives them a debt against you, and usually power over you. This means she might be weakened or even crippled in a direct conflict with Dormamu.

He could protect the part of soul of the ancient one which was in Dark dimension from Dormamu which would not make her weak in a conflict with him while at the same time preserving her immortality. Who better to deal with the problem of souls than a shinigami right?

This would result in Ancient One to not take the decision to die either. Earth would get a strong protector. He would maybe also get a powerful ally in her.

The other thing Law wanted to do in Kamar Taj is to convince Ancient one to deal with Kaecilius to prevent a future threat.

Yes, he has not done anything wrong yet. But the fu*ker was going to get Dormamu to Earth, someone who could destroy Earth easily. If Law wanted to kill him at first sight but he left the decision to the ancient one.

There were many things he wanted to learn in Kamar Taj. He wanted to learn the Eldritch magic not because it was powerful but because it looked cool. The mirror dimension and creating portals were also quite helpful. One could easily defeat strong opponents like Thanos without infinity stones, hulk by just throwing them in a portal to the sun.

Although they could probably live but it would take them a lot of time back to reach Earth.

He wanted to learn the different runes especially to improve his Sentinels and maybe even Gigais.

The knowledge of the vast number of different magics, forbidden magics, artifacts and the history of magic were also very enticing to Law who just wanted to stay for months in Kamar Taj's Library and absorb all the knowledge.

He also wanted to get a hold of some artifacts in Kamar Taj or maybe just study them. Hopefully the Ancient one wouldn't be stingy and let him have some of the artifacts for free.

Heck he would even do some missions for her like demon slaying to get hold of the artifacts as a reward.

He didn't have a need to learn the offensive spells as his hado spells were pretty strong enough even though he had not learned many. They would only continue to get stronger. But still he wanted to learn auxiliary spells like the tracking spell to track down his targets or to know the location of people.

Another spell he wanted to learn was a protecting and an alarm spell to protect his loved one in terms of danger and also alert him of such.

He couldn't wait to go to Kamar Taj and learn all things but he was reminded that he had a lot of things on his to do list some urgent some not so much.

"Hmm, I should finish some of the important things." He didn't know how much time it would take for him to learn magic so he wanted the urgent things done. He would be staying in Kamar Taj for the duration he was learning magic.

He decided to complete some of the things like creating some future updates for Facebook and fixing some bugs and glitches.

He also patrolled the city as Black Mask for a night solving crime to make sure that the criminals stay on their toes and fear him and not go back to do crime thinking he was not present here anymore. Well, there was also spiderman now for such things.

He didn't worry about the safety of Emma and Gambit since they are pretty strong to deal with most of the problems.

As for Spiderman, there were not any supervillains out there yet but since Osborne has not contacted Law or Death Surgeon to be precise to cure him, he likely would be taking the green Goblin serum thus becoming the Green Goblin. He would be a good foe for Spiderman.

He didn't want any of his friends or their family to die especially Gwen by the green Goblin so he still instructed Gambit to keep an eye on them once the green Goblin reveals himself.

He didn't answer Gambit's question of how he knew such a creature would attack the city in the coming months.

He then completed some of the quests he had gotten, mostly of healing people surprisingly.

There were also some false quests that were posted by Stryker to probably ambush him but he just ignored such quests not wanting to waste his time.

He also filled his gigai brim with his reiatsu to function for at least a year. He was supposed to take his place for the next few months.

The last thing he did was steal some radioactive spiders from Osborne corps. He was hoping to create a radioactive spiders for Gwen if he couldn't find the one which was supposed to give her the power of Spider-Gwen. Though, it would take some time.

He then left for Kamar Taj after bidding Emma and Gambit goodbye.
