The Ankarog Patriarch

Abigail looked around him, and his heart sank as he spotted the dismembered bodies of the Shadowmancers littered across the village. There was blood everywhere, and human arms and legs strewn down the streets.

The Osaroks had shortened their travel time, but they had stopped at another Shrine of Mordred to allow Xander to restock his cards, and that had caused a slight delay.

"We are late. Far too late," Abigail sighed like a defeated man, tears brewing in his eyes. "My men never stood a chance against these monsters. They were all dead fighting, probably hoping we'd show up on time."

"No point thinking about what you can't change," Xander cut in with his harsh but practical words. "There's still a chance to save your village. But for that, we need to kill this freak and close the Nightmare Portal."

Abigail swallowed the lump in his throat and asked, "A lot of my men died tonight. It's going to open more portals, isn't it?"
