Demon Slayer Volume 2 Reaction

All three of them are immersed in the story once more.

Seeing the demon's backstory was sad. Boruto didn't know how to feel about it. That doesn't excuse his actions but he does understand that they were once human.

Shikadai was in deep thought while Himawari was just sad.

"Welcome back."

"I'm gonna die."

"Huh, crow? This is a sparrow."

…

"Let go!"

…

"Urgh!"

They thought that their ninja system is better because that was a lot to remember. Genin, Chunin, and Jonin. Simple! You could count ANBU, Hokage, and Special-jonin, but that's besides the point.

Boruto thought that one guy with the blond hair was funny. He got a sparrow instead of a crow!

"That lady was pretty." Himawari smiled looking at the soon-to-be introduced, Kanao.

Shikadai thought that scarred kid would be troublesome to deal with.

"Five survived? Excellent. My children grew in number once again. I wonder what swordsmen they'll become?"

This had them confused.

"Wasn't there only four? Tanjiro, the blond guy, scar face, and that butterfly girl." Boruto hummed trying to think if he missed one.

Himawari didn't know either and looked lost.

Shikadai analyzed more of the pages but he didn't see anyone else.

'Could that person have already left the mountain?' He was unsure so he didn't voice his thoughts. It didn't make a whole lot of sense since they'd need a crow, or sparrow with that pessimistic guy's case, and to choose a metal for their sword.

"I never got to ask how demons can become human again. They all tried killing me."

"Nezuko! You're awake!"

They were all happy that she finally woke up.

"Yay!" Himawari cried in relief.

"Who sleeps for that long anyway?" Boruto muttered.

15 days later

"I am Hagenezuka. I forged Kamado Tanjiro's blade."

"A Hyottoko mask?!"

…

"A child of brightness and fortune! Your sword could turn red!"

…

"Nichirin blades are also called 'color-changing sword."

It turns black.

"Is black bad?"

"It's rarely seen."

"DAMN! I thought I would see a red blade!"

"ACK! Calm down! How old are you?!"

"I'm 37."

There were a lot of laughs.

"What a crazy guy!" Boruto couldn't stop laughing.

Himawari and Shikadai couldn't believe that a grown man would act this way.

"KAW! Young girls are disappearing. You're first mission!"

"Black blades are so unknown that it's believed the user will be unsuccessful."

"It's a box for carrying your sister during the day."

"I believe you! I absolutely believe you!"

"Eighth Form: Waterfall Basin!"

"There is only one person who can turn humans into demons. He is the first and has been alive for a thousand years, Kibutsuji Muzan!"

"She isss already sssixten yearsss old! She getsss lessss and lessss tasssty everyone moment!"

Boruto got his cutout and showed it to them with a smile.

Volume 2: Silver Shiny Kamado Tanjiro

They were disgusted. The information about Kibutsuji Muzan was interesting.

"Back to back Tanjiros! Maybe I could make a collection out of them?" Boruto was hyped up and they both shook their heads in amusement before thinking on what they just read.

"He's likely the main villain or antagonist of this manga." Shikadai inferred and the other two nodded before thinking about this demon with strange tastes.

"What a weirdo!" Himawari couldn't believe that a demon has such a weird preference.

"Beat him up, Tanjiro!" Boruto shouted at the manga as if to help him.

Shikadai shook his head in amusement.

"If her hairpin is among my collection, I've already eaten her."

The young man cries.

"Why isss a human…carrying a demon?"

…

"I placed Nezuko under hypnosis."

All humans are your family.

Protect humanity. Demons are your enemy.

Never forgive demons for the harm they cause.

Shikadai's mouth twitched as he showed them his cutout.

Volume 2: Cosmic Shiny Tennoji Matsuemon

Both of them laughed at him.

"First an old man and now a crow!" Boruto couldn't believe his luck though, since he got two cosmic rarities. For someone who doesn't care about it, he sure seems lucky.

Himawari was giggling at the exchange, but they returned to the topic at hand.

They were amazed at the strange ability from the demon and the fight is cool so far.

"Is it like a genjutsu? Does genjutsu exist here?" Boruto asked to no one in particular.

"I don't know…" Shikadai didn't know what to make of it.

"Yay! Nezuko will fight demons!" Himawari cheered.

"Total Concentration: Water Breathing: Sixth Form: Whirlpool!"

"Did he kill me? He killed two of me."

…

"Tell me about Kibutsuji Muzan."

…

"You must not speak. I'm always watching you. Never tell them about me."

"I can't." He said in fear.

"Hey, that's the guy from the cover!" Boruto noticed and they nodded. He was definitely the villain.

"Seriously, what a troublesome guy." Shikadai eyes narrowed at the obvious manipulation tactic. If it wasn't enough to turn them into man-eating monsters, he's now controlling them through fear.

"I don't like him." Himawari mutters.

"They weren't the hands of a boy."

"Go to Asakusa, Tokyo! KAW!"

"It's night, but it's so bright!"

"Hahaha! What's that face?!" Boruto laughed along with Himawari, even Shikadai wasn't immune to it.

"Has he never been to a city before?" Himawari asks as lights were really common in Konoha.

"Well, we don't really know the level of technology in this world." Shikadai answers as they get back to reading.

"That smell! Why is it here!"

"Kibutsuji Muzan!"

"Woah! It's really him!" Boruto had a wide grin.

"Why's he just walking around with other people?" Himawari didn't know what Kibutsuji was doing.

Shikadai, however, had an idea. A dark one.

"Daddy."

"Don't they know? He's a demon! He eats people!"

"Perhaps he has mistaken me for someone else?"

Shikadai was horrified. His original idea was that he probably blended in to remain inconspicuous to demon slayers, but he never knew Kibutsuji would take it so far.

"What the hell! Get away from them!" Boruto was angry. He couldn't believe that Muzan would go so far as to have a pretend family. That truly made him hate the demon.

Himawari was about to cry. She felt so bad for the girl that didn't know the horrific nature of her 'father'.

"Honey, what's wrong?"

"Kibutsuji Muzan! Wherever you go, you won't get away from me!"

He notices his earrings and sees a man standing over him with the same earrings.

"Those are…!"

Himawari was confused at her cutout and they were both shocked.

Volume 2: Mystery Shiny Unknown Demon Slayer

It was the same one from Muzan's flashback with most of his facial features being hidden, but the sword, earrings, hair, and outfit remained the same. It was unlike the other grades that it had a black and white reflective surface.

"Masashi-san never spoke of this grade, maybe it's for characters like these?" Shikadai wondered aloud and his friends thought that it made sense.

At first, they despised Kibutsuji for that dirty move to get away from Tanjiro, but then that flashback happened.

"Did someone defeat him? They have the same earrings! Maybe it's his dad!" Boruto exclaimed as he felt satisfaction at seeming Muzan in such a position after what he's done.

Shikadai shook his head.

"He'd be dead if that was the case, but he seems to fear that person and those earrings. It could be his dad. It was said in the beginning that their father passed, so maybe he died against Muzan?" Shikadai theorized.

"How does he have the earrings then?" Himawari spoke up trying to make sense of things.

Shikadai didn't have an answer and neither did them.

"Scent of Illusory Blood, Visual Dream."

"Still use the word 'person' for a demon and trying to help them?"

…

"I am a demon and a doctor. I want to see Kibutsuji obliterated from this world."

They thought that a demon doctor was pretty cool.

"Another good demon!" Himawari smiled.

"That power was pretty cool." Boruto thought the art was incredible.

"It seems Tanjiro will have a new ally." Shikadai wonders what will come of it. He's certain that the Demon Slayer Corps won't appreciate Tanjiro working with a demon and his own sister being one as well. Hopefully nothing bad comes from it.

"With that pale face, you look half-dead."

…

"Does my complexion look poor to you. Do I look not long for this world? Do I look sick? I am a completely different creature."

"Do you know what will happen if I give you a large portion of my blood?"

She starts melting.

…

"Bring me the demon slayer that has the hanafuda earrings."

Himawari had to take a deep breath from what she saw and the two boys also paused.

Boruto truly felt deep hate towards Kibutsuji. If the author wanted him to hate the demon, then he's done an excellent job.

Even Shikadai, couldn't help the anger appearing on his face.

'For such a petty reason?' The young Nara couldn't believe it. He feels dread for Tanjiro who has those demons after him.

"It's not about the money! It's that you didn't eat the udon!"

"Isn't she a demon? More like a hag!"

"Huh? Surely he's not talking about Nezuko!"

…

"She is the beauty of our village! It's the bamboo. Isn't it!"

"She is very pretty! That dumb guys doesn't know anything!" Himawari harrumphed in displeasure.

Shikadai and Boruto also thought she was cute. 

'What is this dude talking about?' They both thought with disbelief.

"Welcome back."

"Isn't it hard for you to treat wounds?"

He got smacked.

…

"200 years! How old are you?!"

He got smacked again.

All three nodded in realization.

"So he likes Tamayo." Boruto nodded as if uncovering some profound realization.

"She's pretty too!" Himawari smiled.

"Too old." Shikadai mutters as he shivers at the thought of an old hag like her.

"Tamayo, is there a way for demons to become human again?"

…

"I can see the footprints. That's them."

…

"I need to examine Nezuko's blood and a sample of a demon with Muzan's highly-concentrated blood."

…

"Get down!"

"A temari ball?"

"If he gets enough blood, he can turn her back!" Boruto shouted with a smile.

They all agreed with the sentiment before the house was smashed.

The three of them worried for them.

"I killed one!"

"How does this ball move?!"

…

"I said not to get involved with demon slayers! My concealment isn't perfect!"

…

"Avoid the arrows! I'll give you my sight!"

"Are those demons close to Kibutsuji?"

"I believe so."

"Then I'll get some of their blood!"

There were a lot of emotions and thoughts bubbling inside of them.

The main one being excitement.

This volume had quite a bit of gore, especially when Yushiro's head was blown off, but they powered through it, even if Himawari took a bit longer.

It seems that this fight will be the hardest that Tanjiro's faced so far.

"I really want to read the next one." Boruto murmured as he felt depressed by the cliffhanger.

Himawari and Shikadai nodded their heads, also wanting to find out.

"It was still cool! The six-armed lady was pretty freaky." She admitted but thought that throwing balls was pretty interesting.

"Their abilities mesh well together." Shikadai noted as the arrow demon controlled the direction and the girl threw them as hard as she can.

"AGH! I just wanna read the next one!" Boruto exclaimed before laying back down holding his cutout character. Maybe he should get one of those trading card holders for these?

"You could always email him." Shikadai offhandedly stated and that sent a spark of motivation as he got up. 

He quickly sent an email hoping he'd get back to him soon.

"I wanna read that one! Yours is in color!" Himawari asked and Boruto didn't mind since she seemed to be fine reading the manga now.

"Alright, alright." He handed it to her and she began rereading.

Boruto laid down and was happy that Masashi started creating manga. His father had been home for breakfast which was rare considering he had to be at work before he even got up.

He can feel that things are starting to finally look up.

Now if only the next volume was out.

Hinata who was looking at Boruto's room with her Byakugan, slightly smiled.

She was originally worried and about to storm up there, but seeing how happy Himawari was, she ended those thoughts.

Telling Naruto is a must though, and she also began to grow interested in the manga. She doesn't want to take them from Boruto, so she'll just go out and get her own.

Hinata didn't have much to do during the day and any downtime is spend on housework or TV, so this could be a nice change of pace.
