Don't Worry, I've Got Your Back

"Give me ten minutes," Lucius said.

"I'm fine, you don't need to make a special trip," Scarlett replied.

"I'm hanging up now," Lucius said, and ended the call.

Scarlett couldn't see his face or gauge his mood. She turned to head back to her private dining room, but paused after a step. She had lied to Lucius, saying it was Ryan who thought she was at home. Her lie was full of holes. Lucius must hate being taken for a fool.

But then again, if Lucius interpreted her lie as an attempt to protect her boyfriend, it would make sense. Scarlett sighed to herself, blaming Easton for her flustered state and her poorly constructed lie.

Returning to the dining room, she found Ryan and Mia waiting for her. "Everything okay?" Mia asked.

"Everything's fine," Scarlett replied. "Easton was the guest in room 101. He tricked Lucius into coming."

She picked up her chopsticks to eat, but Mia and Ryan just stared at her.

"Easton River? Why would he pay your bill?" Mia asked, her eyes wide.
