"Hahaha, just get used to it. There's nothing much. I just wanted to personally ask for your feelings about making it to the Top 100. Also, I need to confirm the contracts with Ultra and Tomorrowland. Congratulations, you're a real DJ now." He smiled, as he continued, "I'm surprised you're not on a plane right now to go thank DJ MAG in person."
"Can we not talk about this? I was as shocked as anyone," Miaoyi's face darkened as soon as she heard those words. She had thought about it but had ultimately decided against a 13-hour flight.
To be honest, if China and the Netherlands weren't on opposite sides of the continent, Miaoyi would have loved to personally 'greet' the DJ MAG's management for what they did. After all, didn't DJ MAG have a rigorous screening process? How come they actually put her on the list this time? Didn't she just become a producer in September? Didn't she have to give DJ MAG a sizable "donation" before she was ranked?
Miaoyi silently cursed DJ MAG in her heart, but it was just a fleeting thought. She was well aware, as someone in the industry, that the rumours about buying a spot on the list were simply not credible. This kind of list had no room for manipulation. Just try buying a rank on a fully transparent, open-to-the-public voting list and see what happens.
Artificially buying votes, or paying off other DJ's voters was possible, considering it was a popularity vote, but buying a spot? That was a stretch. Even those old-timers with years of experience wouldn't be that foolish to believe the rumours circulating in China.
"This is truly surprising. Even the label didn't receive any advance notice. I just want to know how you feel," he took a deep breath and asked seriously.
Regardless of Miaoyi's own feelings, he was genuinely thrilled about this Top 100 event. Otherwise, he wouldn't have booked a flight to Shanghai immediately after learning about her ranking. To him, Miaoyi was the one who could bring something extraordinary to East Records, something that they didn't have before. Otherwise, they wouldn't have presented her with such an unequal contract at the beginning.
Most importantly, the 'unequal party' in this unequal contract was East Records itself, not Miaoyi, the artist.
"Honestly, besides a little surprise, I have no feelings whatsoever!" Miaoyi said, in a surprisingly upbeat tone, then smirked, "Are you guys happy inside the label?"
"Cough... To be honest, you don't need to be emotional about it. For a DJ, this is an honour that you pursue all your life. I also know that you are currently focusing on your studies, but with this honour, an imposing top 100 DJ in the world, do you still need to worry that no school will take you?" Not understanding her causal attitude, he awkwardly cleared his throat, and attempted to comfort Miaoyi.
However, Miaoyi found herself helpless with this response. "It's mainly because I expected things to happen differently, not for any other reason..."
"Well, since we're here, let's get on with it," he smiled and said, "How about we discuss some business next?"
"What business?" Miaoyi had to give up her protests and snatched the menu from the table. She quickly ticked off a long list of dishes with her pen before handing the menu to Qiuying. After Qiuying indicated that she didn't want to order anything, Miaoyi pushed it away and said, "You're treating us. After all, you're the boss."
"Of course." He naturally couldn't refuse such a request and laughed heartily, "I should be the one to celebrate you. Now that An Qiuying is also a well-known singer, and we have you two as a powerful duo, it's a blessing for East Records."
After glancing at the menu, he placed it on the side, ready for the server to take it later, and then continued, "As for business, you might be very interested in what's happening in the electronic music scene next month. Do you know that the world's top three electronic music festivals will be in China?"
"I don't know about it," Miaoyi shook her head first. Honestly, she had no idea about this.
She knew everything about the annual main event of the world's top three electronic music festivals, but she had no knowledge of the satellite events in different countries. The satellite events often took place at different times from the main event, and the themes could be vastly different between the main and satellite events.
This was especially true for the ethereal and surreal stages of one of the three major electronic music festivals, which embodied a high level of creativity.
So Miaoyi had never really bothered to find out about these satellite events.
However, since he asked this question, Miaoyi wasn't a fool, and she naturally sensed some implications behind the question. "Are you saying... the three major electronic music festivals are planning to hold a satellite event in China? Which one?"
"Ultra," he replied.
"Ul... Ultra." Miaoyi's eyelids twitched at the mention of the name. "So, what's the deal?"
Take a look at this." Instead of immediately answering Miaoyi's question, he pondered for a moment and pulled out a beautifully printed document from his briefcase, handing it to her.
As Miaoyi gazed at the document, her pupils contracted.

"How does it look? Impressive, huh?" A mysterious smile gradually emerged on his face. "Without a doubt, this is for you. It was urgently faxed all the way from Miami overnight."
Miaoyi: "..."
Taking the colour-printed document and examining it closely, Miaoyi eventually confirmed that it was indeed a document from Ultra.
As for the purpose of this document, it was quite clear from the bold black letters on colourful paper—it was a sample of the performance contract signed between Ultra and artists!
In other words, all the DJs and performers on stages bearing the Ultra brand signed this contract, including the top DJs at Ultra's main event in Miami.
Regarding the specific content of the document Miaoyi received, it outlined a single-show performance contract—an exclusive opportunity for the China satellite station of ULTRA BEIJING Next-Gen Music Festival. This stage was unique and somewhat detached from the core theme of Ultra, yet it boasted the most formidable lineup among all the satellite stations.
However, Miaoyi hadn't anticipated that she would be offered such an opportunity so soon after her debut performance. Another show already?
Yet, there was no denying the allure that Ultra held for her.
"When is the specific date?" Miaoyi didn't immediately accept the offer; instead, she inquired about the timing.
After all, that was the primary factor she needed to consider!
