CHAPTER 12 – THE SAD STORY OF CHARMANDER (Fixed)

In the previous chapter we see how Nancy gets the Cascade Badge at the hands of Misty, who broke her promise by kissing her on the lips, after a chase, our heroes decided to return to the MT. Moon due to a conversation they overheard about fossils and moonstones, finally, it was Ash and Nancy's first night.

The stay at the hotel was wonderful and I must say that, if Nancy had not been sore from the night before, we would have done it again, but do not abuse, now let's focus on today's plan, go back to the MT. Moon looking for Moonstones for Nancy and hopefully finding fossils for everyone.

After getting dressed, we met Verity and Pikachu at the Pokémon Center for breakfast.

"Well, how was it?" - asked Verity with a mischievous smile.

"Those are details aren't to tell anyone " - Nancy blushed.

"On your face anyone would say it was a disappointment," - Verity said.

"It's not like that, it was actually super pleasurable, and its size is... well... it's huge" – he said that in a barely audible whisper if it weren't for the fact that it was right next to him.

"That last one I did not hear, repeat it, but louder, please" – said Verity with a smile.

"N-It's nothing," Nancy said embarrassedly.

"Haa... We can only hope that it is left to me" – he said looking at me sideways.

At least it cannot be said that it is not direct.

"Soon, I promise you" - I said.

"At the moment that's enough for me, but you'll have to make progress soon" - he smiled.

After this we enjoyed a healthy and delicious breakfast.

But when we left the Pokémon Center we saw that the sky was completely cloudy and the rain threatened to fall, most likely.

"It looks like it's going to rain, what do we do, let's stay here?" asked Nancy.

"I have an umbrella" - Verity said as she pulled a small umbrella from her small backpack.

"Oh, yesterday before well... You know I saw that I also had one, and coincidentally it is the same, but in blue" – I said taking out my own umbrella.

"This... sorry, it seems that in the rush I forgot to bring one" – Nancy apologized.

"It's okay, we can share it" – I smiled.

"Hey, she already had her moment last night, why don't you let me flirt with him for a while? Besides, it's just a walk in the rain" - Verity protested.

"Well, well, if it rains I'll let you be with him under the umbrella" - Nancy sighed.

And sure enough, just as we were about to arrive at the MT. Moon, began to rain in buckets.

Obviously, Verity took refuge with me and Nancy, although dissatisfied, took Verity's umbrella.

"Once we get to the MT. Moon we will be safe, and it would just wait for the rain to stop" - I said.

"And thank goodness, with this rain my hair will get lost" - Nancy nodded.

"Too much moisture" – Verity nodded.

Both women continued to talk about their things, when suddenly, in the distance I could see what seemed to be a small flame, very faint, but it was definitely a flame.

"Hey, do you see that over there or am I hallucinating?" – I asked as I pointed to the place.

The girls looked in the direction I pointed and apparently saw exactly the same thing I did.

"Yes, it looks like fire, doesn't it?" - said Nancy.

"It looks like fire, but it's impossible, I mean, we're in the rain, the fire should have gone out" - Verity added.

"Let's get closer anyway" - I said as I started walking.

The girls nodded and together we headed towards the mysterious flame.

What we saw left us surprised, there, on a huge rock was a small Charmander, which was all wet and could only cover its almost dull tail with a small leaf.

"Quick, cover the Charmander, if its tail goes out it will die immediately!" – I said hurriedly.

Without waiting for them to say anything, I went straight to the Charmander, took off my jacket and put it on him careful not to touch the tail, then picked it up.

Poor Charmander looked at me pitifully, and even made a little struggle, but he was extremely weak, his tail was about to go out.

"Nancy, give me Verity's umbrella, I'm going to take Charmander to the Pokémon Center!" – I said nervously.

Nancy nodded and gave me the umbrella after placing herself with Verity, then, without waiting any longer, I ran out at full speed with Pikachu still on my shoulder trying not to keep the Charmander from falling asleep.

"Hold on, we'll get you out of this, Pikachu, now I'll focus my energy on running, make sure Charmander stays awake no matter what happens!" – I said.

"Pika pi!" – Pikachu nodded.

"Well, come on, aaaaa!" – I gave a rallying cry and quickened my steps as much as I could.

I don't know how long it passed, but I was abnormally tired, even though it was raining, huge beads of sweat were falling down my face, my heart was beating at a thousand an hour, I was on the verge of collapse, yet I persisted, poor Charmander struggled to stay awake as his tail slowly faded.

"Fuck, shit, let's gooooooooo!" – I shouted.

And despite being on the verge of collapse, adrenaline flooded my body and I was able to continue.

I don't know when or how much time passed, but I barely made it to the Pokémon Center.

"Nurse Joy, it's an emergency, this Charmander's tail is about to go out, please save him!" – I said as I handed the Charmander to Nurse Joy.

"Right away, hey...!" said Nurse Joy.

But I couldn't hear the following because I fainted.

I don't know how much time passed, but when I opened my eyes I found myself lying on a kind of sofa and, standing there looking at me were Nancy, Verity and Pikachu.

"He's already woken up!" - exclaimed Verity.

Nancy came up to me and hugged me tightly.

"How glad you're okay!" - said Nancy as tears welled up in her eyes.

"I'm sorry I made you worry" - I sighed as I tried to sit up.

"Yes, the truth is that we were surprised when we entered the Pokémon Center and saw a doctor attending to you, my heart almost came out of my chest," Nancy nodded.

"Likewise me, please promise us that next time you will be more prudent" - Verity scolded.

"Pika pi" – agreed Pikachu.

"I'm sorry, but that Charmander... By the way, where is it?" – I asked looking around.

"I can tell that you like Pokémon a lot" - said Nurse Joy as she walked toward me.

"Nurse Joy, before I faint I vaguely remember giving you the Charmander, how is he?" – I asked immediately.

"First I'm glad you're okay and second, he's fully recovered, now I'll bring him here" - She smiled.

"Oh, I'm glad, but what I don't understand is what I was doing there" - I said thoughtfully.

"Actually... I do" - Nurse Joy said suddenly.

"What do you mean?" - asked Verity.

"4 days ago I heard a coach say that he had left a Charmander abandoned for being useless, he said he left him on a rock and told him to wait... apparently without hope of him returning," she said, with her head down.

"Why didn't you say anything?" - asked Nancy.

"As a general rule I'm not allowed to meddle in the lives of other trainers, plus I never thought what I was saying was true, I thought I was just bluffing, I believed no one could be that cruel" - said Nurse Joy sadly.

"Haa... Don't worry, it's normal for you to think that, anyway, can I see it?" – I said calmly.

"Right away" - Nurse Joy nodded.

Then he left and after a while he placed the Charmander on the counter mainly because I had already gotten up and was waiting there.

"How are you?" – I asked with a smile.

"Char!" - said the Charmander cheerfully.

"It looks good, I'm glad" - I nodded.

But just as the Charmander looked like he was going to say something, someone entered the Pokémon Center screaming.

"I've heard from someone that a person brought my Charmander to the Pokémon Center and I want to take back! Can anyone tell me where is he?" – shouted the boy.

Then he turned his head and saw Charmander and came to the counter.

"Oh, there you are, come on, let's go" - said the boy.

But I put myself between them with a look of few friends.

"You don't take it from here" - I said, frowning.

"And who the hell do you think you can tell me what to do?" – asked the boy with annoyance.

"You don't care who I am, what matters is that you left your Pokémon waiting for nothing and almost died in the rain if we hadn't been there, someone like you doesn't deserve to have Pokémon to begin with" - I said angrily.

"Fuck you kid, I'll do whatever I want, it's my Pokémon, now push away before I get angry!" – exclaimed the boy while grabbing my shoulder.

But I pushed him away in one fell swoop.

"You...! How dare you hit me shit brat?" – said the boy angrily trying to push me.

But before he could do anything, the Charmander came between us.

"Char!" - exclaimed the Charmander, extending his arms.

"It's about time! Do you think I have time for your nonsense? I'm back for you, now let's go!" – exclaimed the boy taking out his Pokéball.

"¡Pikachu!" – exclaimed.

Pikachu nodded and used Quick Attack causing his Pokéball to fly out and land in front of Charmander who, without hesitation, crushed it with his feet.

"You, you bastards motherfuckers, you will pay for this, Nuzleaf, I choose you!" - and a Nuzleaf came out of her Pokéball.

I was already going to order Pikachu, but Charmander looked at me, and since I understood his intentions, I nodded.

"Nature Power!" – exclaimed the boy.

"Dodge it and use Flamethrower, show how strong you are!" – I ordered.

Some stars flew towards Charmander, but he dodged it them easily and then threw a powerful flamethrower that sent Nuzleaf flying weakening him completely.

"You bastards!" - he said as he pulled out that Pokéball.

But this time Nancy and Verity stood in front of me.

"If you don't get out of here in 5 seconds, you'll have to deal with me!" – he exclaimed.

"With me too!" – Verity nodded.

Both took out their Pokéballs as a threat.

"Motherfuckers!" – exclaimed the boy.

"I can't watch this anymore, those guys are right, get out of here, clown!" – said a person from the Pokémon Center.

"Yes, get out of here!" - said another.

"We don't want people like you here" - said another.

"If you don't want me to take my Pokémon out and order you to beat up, get out of here and don't come back" – and another one.

And one after another they kept coming, up to 10 people.

"You'll pay for this, I promise!" – then picked up his Nuzleaf and left.

I thanked them all and then they dispersed.

I looked at the clock in the Pokémon Center and saw that it was late.

"Well, what do you want to do, do you want us to take you somewhere or something? We can help you" – I said looking at the Charmander.

He smiled, looked at a Pokéball from my belt and grabbed my pants as I pointed at it.

"Are you sure about it?" – I asked.

"Char!" - he nodded.

"Well, welcome to our group!" – I said, taking a Pokéball from my pocket.

Then I put it in front of Charmander and he played the Pokéball himself, capturing it on the spot.

"We seem to have a new partner" – Nancy smiled.

"And a Charmander no more, no less!" – added Verity.

"Yes, everything came out of the mouth... Hey, it's late, how about we have dinner and leave the MT thing. Moon for tomorrow?" – I asked with a smile.

"Looks good to me" Nancy nodded.

"And me" Verity agreed.

"Pika pi!" – Pikachu was also amused by the idea.

But before we could go out to dinner, Nurse Joy called us.

"Excuse me, I have heard their conversation and I can deduce that they want a Moonstone and some fossils of the MT. Moon, right?" – said nurse Joy.

"Yes, is something wrong?" – I asked curiously.

"It's that the other day a kid came and gave me a Moonstone, he told me that he didn't need it and to give it to someone who needed it and I think there are no better people than you to give it to him" – said Nurse Joy taking out a Moon Stone.

Nancy picked it up quickly.

"Thank you very much!" – Nancy said happily.

"You're welcome, and if you allow me to say something else, I advise you to participate in the tournament that will take place at the Batalla Residence, located on the outskirts of Ciudad Celeste, to the south" – added Nurse Joy.

"The Battle Residence, and what will happen there?" asked Verity.

"Every 6 months, the Battle Residence holds a small tournament for Novice Coaches and gives prizes to the winner and runner-up" – he explained.

"If that's not too much to ask, can I know what kind of prizes?" – I asked curiously.

"Every year they change, but I remember that last year's runner-up received a fossil to choose from the collection of the owner of the Residence himself," he replied.

"Then what do you say, let's go?" – I asked the girls.

"Of course, I want to test my skills!" – Nancy said excitedly.

"To me too, I want to show you how good I am!" – added Verity.

"Pika pi!" – Pikachu seemed excited at the thought.

"Decided, our next destination will be... the Battle Residence!" – I said with emotion.

"Yes/Pika pi!" – they all said.
