Chapter 6: Mother's side of the family (I).
Francisca's POV
"Woof! Woof!"
Fenrir was standing on his four little paws watching over me while I tried my best on catching up with my father. He told me that if I ever managed to grab a hold of his clothes he'll make sure I can eat plenty over dinner.
"Come on kiddo! When you see strange people you have to be prepared to run!" (Francis) tried to give me some encouragement while watching over me, trying to catch my breath. "Come and catch papa!"
Why, though?!
The first thing that came into my mind was why would I be meeting strange people at home? Unless these two have something I have to be worried about. "You must learn, honey, that there's not much good anymore and as your father I'm preparing you with necessary life skills."
"I-I'm only two?" I even pulled up two of my fingers to show him, just in case he didn't know what two was.
Father gave me a quick nod before answering, "Exactly, you can't fight but you can run." He told me proudly and my legs almost gave out just from an hour of running.
I wasn't getting much sleep after trying to look after Gleen during some nights he would cry so loud… I couldn't sleep a wink.
Listen as much as I love any good speeches- if it was any other two year old hearing this they would wonder for so long why the need for such!
And this would count as abuse back on earth!
"Francis! Give the girl a break and come here~ the little ones will be meeting their aunty." (Gabby) shouted while holding my little brother in her arms, breastfeeding him. I could see little Glenn greedily sucking on mom's breast, watching it was a little awkward.
Francis nodded and seeing that training was done, Fenrir quickly went to my side and supported me. I couldn't help but hold over his sides feeling his tail wagging behind.
"Ugh…" I groaned in my tiny little voice of how I feel like my body is heavy.
"Thanks boy…" I reached over to the top of his head, gave it a pat and he barked in joy.
"Woof! Woof!"
…
That night when mom told him of his orders, he was really taking it seriously the next day we were together.
Ever since he got summoned here all he was eyeing was us, making sure I was safe and had something to eat-
Actually yesterday Fenrir went into the forest after I complained that there was nothing to eat inside the house. He came back with a dead rabbit being held in his mouth, tail wagging.
"Ahhh!"
My butt fell into the floor screaming seeing the dead rabbit by his mouth. "I-Is that-" At that time I pointed at the blood dripping onto the floor.
But when he saw me in a panicked state, he plops the bunny down quickly running over to me in a whimper.
"Hrnmm…! Woof! Woof!" He made such noises while he sniffed me all over, trying to see if I was bleeding or something like that-
"I'm sorry boy! You just scared me with the dead rabbit- was it because I said I had nothing to eat today?" I asked Fenrir who barked while his tail wagged like crazy.
Mom was like her, so extroverted and outgoing.
I couldn't help but get attached to Fenrir hugging him. "Good boy!"
…
Definitely by that memory, I have a good boy by my side.
We walked over to our house balcony where mother and father were doing their daily talk. On some days they were being all lovey-dovey and on some day they were having talks about me.
"Francis… What are you doing with her? Aren't you pushing things a bit too far? I told you to play and watch over her. Not to train the little one, she's far too young for such a thing."
"I'm just saying darling- we should be prepared just in case you know-"
"Sure~ but I have everything under control. Honey."
Fenrir and I could feel the tension they were having. I didn't like it…
"Um… Who's aunty?" I asked hoping that they would forget what they were talking about and thankfully Mom joyfully answered for me.
"Oh! Your aunt is my little sister!" (Gabby) exclaims happily by the mention of her little sister coming to visit us soon.
"She's expecting her own little one and she told me she'll be visiting to see how you two were doing, ah you might not know her honey~ she's been too busy with her duties at the castle being some private knight instructor and all."
At the castle?
First I'm hearing that my mother is part of some hero group that saved this world and now her little sister works in the military?! All of this is a little too intimidating!
"Ohhh… when?"
"Just right now actually. She's going to come at any moment, I forgot to tell you all but she told me three days ago with a letter that she'll be visiting- oopsie!" (Gabby) kneels down over and boops by nose.
"Now! Come on and let's welcome them. I already have so much food prepared for a pregnant lady- Let's just hope whatever she craves is in the bundle I've prepared~" she smiles holding out her hand to hold mine and I took it wanting to know more about the mother's side of the family.
"I'll go and clean up the front yard then. See you both inside the house!" (Francis) grabs a weed whacker that wasn't too far and started trimming the bushes outside the house.
"Okay darling~ be safe now muah!"
She gives a little flying kiss over to him and he reciprocates. I wanted to barf seeing these two flirt, thankfully Fenrir was there to do it for me.
"Borf…" (Fenrir) looks towards me and I tried not letting a laugh escape my mouth. I stared at my mother who was looking really happy with the sudden visit.
"Mom… you were a hero right? So does that mean your family was full of them?" I could feel our hands swaying, she looked down at me with those kind blue eyes of hers and she hummed thinking.
"Hmm~ Oh I was the first in the family! You could even say I had no choice~!" she laughs patting my head before holding my hand back again. "I found love there so everything went well, you know it's really lovely being in love."
"Oh! Meaning you found dad and lived happily ever after?" I asked looking over outside where dad was happily trimming over the bushes and waved in our direction.
Mom gave me a smile looking over outside, not at my dad but something else in the distance. "Mm… I guess so."
