"Why would you ask that? Didn't I tell you that we don't want that life?" Anna neutrally played it off, her tone carefully measured as she questioned me.

"Did you honestly think that excuse will even work now?~" Aria teased from her side of the table. "With the protests outside clamoring for your sister's return?~"

The room got colder at Aria's words. Mathilde blinked at us, her eyes shimmering with an emotion I couldn't read as she placed a hand on Anna's shoulder.

"Anna, I'm pretty sure you know that this could always happen," I calmly revealed, Anna looking at me with pure sadness as I continued. "I won't judge seeing as I obviously know the reason why you both wouldn't want to be connected to the Empire, but it's still a viable option for us to take if we really want to change this Empire."
