Chapter 9: Guppy Feast and Power Leveling

My original dark brown color turned into a darker green color as I slowly approached the group of guppy's.

There are probably a couple dozen of them in this group alone, meaning that I should have plenty of targets to try and grab hold onto.

Luckily I can probably grab them with only 2 tentacles meaning that I could probably grab up to 4 at once!

As I inch closer and closer to the kelp strand, I coil 4 arms below me into spring shapes and...

WHOOSH!

By activating my funnel head tubes I'm propelled even faster towards them as I'm launched straight at the center of the group of fish.

Crash!

As I hit the floating center kelp strand I immediately ground myself to it with one of my tentacles as the remaining 7 spring out to different fishes surrounding me.

I had managed to take some of them by surprise, as the only ones which have even started reacting at the moment were the ones who happened to be facing me during my initial launch.

BAM!

Instantly I manage to tangle up 2 of the Guppy's with 2 tentacles each leaving my 3 remaining tentacles in search of prey.

Its kind of hard to describe how my arms move, sometimes they feel like they're just normal arms which I perfectly control and other times it feels like each actual tentacles has a mind of its own.

As I ignore the 3 tentacles which are still frantically searching, I bring my focus upon the 2 fish which I've already caught.

Both of them are dark green fish, with a big blue tail and yellow eyes. With both of my tentacles wrapped up around one of the fish, I squeeze it as hard as I can.

SPLAT!

Instantly the eyes of the fish that I squeezed burst as blood poured out of them and the midsection of the fish became flatter than a pancake.

Holy sh*t!

I'm strong!

I mean, I knew that I was going to be stronger than these little guys but I didn't realize that I could literally crush them upon squeezing!

Is this the power of my new mutated tentacles?

Muahahahahaha!

Fear me and tremble before the almighty octo-crusher!

I turn my attention to the other Guppy which has now finally reacted to being caught. As its frantically thrashes around in my grip, my beak turning upwards in a grin as I squeeze yet again

SPLAT!

The same scene as before appears in front of me as the poor Guppy has its stomach forcefully pushed out.

Oh? This one was only a level 1? I guess that makes sense though, they're all separate creatures so naturally they wouldn't all be the same level.

As I finishing musing about my latest kill I turn to my remaining three tentacles to see that 2 of them managed to finally nab another guppy and even the single tentacle has latched and wrapped around another all by itself!

Instantly making a decision I guide my now other 4 free tentacles to the fishes entangled by only a single.

Before the fish is able to react even further it is instantly covered in tentacles as I squeeze with all my might.

SPLAT!

Crap! I think I might have squeezed to hard for this one!

The body of the now dead guppy which was crushed actually burst upon dying!

Parts of it's body float around my tentacles as I freeze up in alarm. Only to immediately remember the final guppy which I have entangled.

As I turn my sight towards the remaining guppy it freezes up as it notices my vision upon it.

My eyes curl upward as I guide only 1 additional tentacle towards it now, afraid of ruining the food like I did with the remaining one.

SPLAT!

[Tentacle Grab has leveled up to Level 3]

AWWWWW YEAHHHHH!

With one tentacle holding me into the kale strand, and one tentacle each holding all of my prey, I have my now 4 free tentacles in excitement for celebration.

After calming down and looking around, I can see that all of the remaining guppy's have managed to flee.

Still holding each of my 3 prey in one tentacle each, I propel myself towards the base of the kelp strand.

Upon reaching it. I immediately take the remains of each guppy and stuff them into my beak as fast as I can.

I'm too far from my temporary home to travel back and eat there, and I don't want to risk attracting predators my moving around with free food so I've simply decided to dine and dash!

While I can't see anything around me except for a few crabs off in the distance feeding on some poor algae, I don't want to risk anything.

Omnomnomnomnom!

Nice! A four whole points from this meal!

I can probably mutate 2-3 body parts with this plus my original 1 remaining point!

After finishing eating my meal I activate my camouflage and hide between two rocks near the base of the kelp strand.

Nice! I managed to get a whole level out of this, filled my stomach, and managed to get 4 mutagen points!

I do wonder why I only leveled up on the last guppy kill though.

I mean technically, weren't most of these thing's on the same level as the crab from before?

Maybe I got more experience since I was a lower level than the crab or maybe I got more experience because the crab was actually a predator?

It also sucks that I couldn't eat that third Guppy that I killed. That poor thing was blasted into bits to the point where I would've spent ages just trying to find and eat all of the parts of it.

Enough of the, sorrows though! Its over and done with! Let's upgrade!
