Arriving at the school gymnasium, Keith saw his classmates as well as their coach on the basketball court.

But now, he needed it so that he could have the support of the students. Keith would use their support as a deterrence to Raymond's retaliations against him in the future.

Whether it was to win Lynn's heart or the support of the students, Keith couldn't afford to play badly in basketball. He needed to be the MVP or else he would be looked down upon by them.
