Chapter 15 A drop in the ocean...

When everything was done, the cleaning staff left the room Eva's mind was full of questions... at first, she thought of returning it to her but now her crook mind was up to something...

She closed the door and left from there. It was already lunchtime, so she went straight to the canteen to grab something to eat.

She finished her lunch in a hurry and left. She went to her room and took out the pendant from the table drawer and tried to match them, but she couldn't find any clues.

She then called Steve, her cousin's brother, who is so  supportive of her, and said

" hey Steve,  how are you?  I miss my bro, can you come here"

"Hello, my little sis.. do you miss me? uh.. but I smell something fishy.. what's up ?... is everything alright? "

he asked.

" I am fine bro. I just need a favor.. can you make it today? "

she requested him.

" Well .. anything for my darling sis .. meet you in the evening.. bye".

She put the earring with the pendant and kept it inside. Now she returned to work, she knocked on the door, but no one answered.

Kate was not back yet. Eva's naughtiest side was clinging, so she went in to see what she can do to annoy Kate.

Meanwhile, there was a call on the landline phone and Eva answered it. That was a call from the Dean's office.  Dean's secretary said

"Hello, ..is this Dr. Kate's office? " Eva said

"yes " 

she said

" am I speaking to miss Kate " before Eva could reply, she said

" Dr. Kate, sir asked me to remind you about the appointment today, you can come after an hour, please don't forget, sir was already furious  that you missed your previous appointment "

and hang up the phone.

Eva wrote it on a piece of paper and kept it on the table but suddenly the crook in her said

"what ..!! clean her office right.. let me clean everything for you... ma'am "

She folded the paper and threw it in the dustbin and left silently,  while going she added something to the room freshener.

It was just a cleaning liquid, but if inhaled in large quantities, it will cause irritability.

Kate entered the room after her lunch break, there was a strong smell of a chemical in her room. She wondered what that smell was but couldn't figure it out. 

She went back to her chair and started reading the files of the patients that had to be checked. After some time she started sneezing and it won't stop.

She was in a mess and almost fainted because of sneezing. She ran out of her room and called Eva. Eva lifted her phone but Kate was unable to talk.

Eva came to her and asked

" What happened ma'am? Are you alright? Should I call someone to check on you? "

as if she knows nothing.

Kate's nose turned red and she still can't stop. She was unable to talk about anything. Eva called the ER and said

" There is an emergency up here can you send someone "

Kate's nose was swollen and her hair was all in a mess.

Kate was always concerned about her looks, especially when there were men around her.

So when the ward boy came she refused to lift her head, she was taken to the ER and everyone there surrounded her to see what happened.

The doctor in charge checked on her and said it was nothing dangerous, it was only some kind of reaction. It will vanish after some time doesn't worry.

When Kate heard that, she was sure it was Eva who did something, she angrily stared at her. When she lifted her head everybody there started laughing.

She was in a mess. Those who are bullied by her click her pictures and shared them everywhere nobody was sympathetic as she doesn't deserve it.

She was like a cartoon there and everybody was laughing. Eva was the only one who wasn't laughing at her, so nobody doubted that she had something to do with it. But Kate was confirmed.

when she was able to talk she pointed toward Eva and shouted

"it was her.!! it was her..!! ".

Eva said

" yes ma'am I can understand I'll be here with you, please don't worry ma'am ".

Eva maintained an innocent look. All the directors, the head of the department and other officials came there to see the mess, they were very furious.

They shouted at the management team and cleared the gathering. Everyone dispersed. After that, Kate was called by them for asking the details, she clearly said that it was Eva who did this.

They asked her to prove herself. She said

" There was something wrong in my room, please come and check yourself ".

Everybody went to her office room, but there was nothing wrong there. One of the directors asked her

'' So what did you say? what is wrong here?",

She said

" The chemical smell.. there..!! " there was nothing. Because the chemical she used is highly diffusible. The room was neat and clean.

Everyone was back in the conference room. Kate was standing there and everyone was staring at her.

They asked her again

" So why do you think Miss Eva did something to you? Can you explain? ".

Kate was speechless, but Eva was not. She came forward and said

" I think I have something to say," They said

"Ok,  what do you want to say, miss Eva, you can come here and say ".

Eva stood beside Kate and started

" Sir it's not her fault, she just asked me to clean her office and I did whatever I could,  to impress her but I think I did something wrong ..."

she was about to continue but they all interrupted her

" what..? What did you just say? She asked you to clean her office. Are you from the cleaning staff...? '' they asked shockingly.

" No sir. I am a first-year resident and ma'am said that my level is to do work like these, cleaning, data entry, buying things that are needed".

They were furious and asked Eva to wait outside. Eva silently walked out with a smile of satisfaction,

All the Management team were so angry and asked Kate

" Is it true miss Kate, do you order your intern to do jobs like these?? ''

Kate was helpless now, she claimed to be innocent and said

"No sir it's not true  I never did that...". 

"  Enough miss Kate, you can wait outside,"

they said.

Kate came out, Eva was already sitting on the bench outside the room. When she saw Kate, she called her and asked

" hello ma'am Are you fine? did I say something wrong in there?".

Those words were like salt in the wounds for Kate. She didn't say anything and sat silently. There was a huge discussion going on between the management team.

They summoned other interns who worked under Kate, one by one to enquire about her behavior. Of Course, so many victims were bullied by her, Lara was also called, and they all said everything that she did.

The directors were shocked to hear those things and decided to dismiss her, but some of them were not willing to do so as it may spoil her career and also the reputation of the hospital.

So they finally decided that she will be suspended for a month and a penalty of six months' salary and an official apology to all her juniors.      

Finally, Eva was satisfied though it was only a drop in the ocean the revenge began.             

Ben was in surgery all this time, and when he came out, everyone was busy talking about them.  Within a day, Eva became heroin off f the neurological department.

Ben heard everything and thought " I underestimated her she is the real thing. Eva was overwhelmed, she saw here and there and went to the terrace. She was sitting there with coke in her hands.

It was a feeling of victory... maybe a small one but it was like winning a war. She was so excited to tell this to Era. It was already past five, it was off duty so she was about to leave.

When she turned back, Ben was coming that way, looking here and there, as if searching for someone. Eva hid under the bench.

....
