172. News From The Castle

Jael stopped in his tracks to look at Danag who was rushing through the front doors and past the guards with worry etched on his face. 

"Sire," Danag cried as he spotted Jael, obviously surprised to see him at the mansion's entrance.

"Did something happen?" Jael asked immediately as he thought of what could possibly be wrong.

"Sire," Danag said as he stopped in front of him. He bowed and then stood to his full height. "Lord Garth sent a messenger," Danag announced.

"Tch! Why?" Jael asked, he was unimpressed by Lord Garth going this far. It has just been a few days.

"You know why Sire, you have neither read nor responded to his letters. It is expected that he would be concerned."

"Erick already sent a letter back in my stead. Why would he be concerned?" He knew Lord Garth was more worried about him declining the party invitation than actual concern for his whereabouts.

"Sire, you always respond to his letters yourself," Danag replied.
