A year later

Layla quickly rush to the kitchen where Jenny was preparing dinner for them to eat.

"Mom, guess what, you won't believe it, Karin just said his first word" said Layla to her mom.

"Really?" asked Jenny in disbelief.

"Yes mom, come and see for yourself, he just said mama" said Layla while dragging the hands of her mother.

"Gently sweetie" said Jenny.

As they finally got to where Karin is, they could see him playing with some toys, the moment he saw Jenny, he quickly walked to her and stretched his hands, as a sign for her to carry him.

"Mama, mama" said Karin while stretching his hands.

"Wow, you're right Layla" said Jenny as she carry Karin "Come on sweetie, repeat it" said Jenny while waiting in anticipation to hear the words again.

After waiting for some seconds and still no sign of Karin repeating what he just said, she hug him happily.

"I'm sure you are going to be so cleaver" said Jenny.

The fact that Karin didn't repeat his word, didn't bother her in the slightest because she knows that he did more than enough considering the fact that her was just a year old.

It's been up to a year now, since Karin has come into their life's, the immense joy in Jenny heart couldn't be described as she looked at Karin lovingly.

Most times when looking at Karin, she couldn't help herself but remember his mom who has been sadly taken from him by the cold hands of death.

As Hendrick came back from work, what greeted him was Karin little voice which was saying mama all over the place.

"Welcome dad, you won't believe it, Karin has started talking" said Layla as she rush over to hug him.

With his toddler legs, Karin walked forward so Hendrick could carry him also, which Hendrick did without wasting time.

"Mama, mama" said Karin with his tiny voice.

"No Karin, I'm dada not mama" said Hendrick in a childish way.

"No, mama, mama" replied Karin.

The refusal of Karin to call Hendrick dad's made Hendrick wide his eyes in disbelief, he didn't expect Karin to say the word no. He thought that the only word Karin was able to formulate right now was mama.

"What the fuck, I didn't expect that at all" said Hendrick not knowing that his wife heard what he just said.

"Language Mr, mind your use of words in the presence of the kids" said Jenny who was arranging their dinner at the dinning table.

"Sorry about that sweetie, it's mistakenly slipped out of my mouth" said Hendrick.

During when they were having their dinner, they were interrupted by the sound of their door bell. Hendrick stood up from the dinning and walked over to the door.

"Good evening sir, are you Mr Hendrick?" asked the man as Hendrick opened the door.

"Yes, I am" replied Hendrick.

"Here is your package Mr Hendrick, you just have to sign here and here" said the delivery man.

Hendrick didn't waste anytime in signing the documents before taking the package.

"Who was that and what's the package all about?" asked Jenny as her husband door the package at the corner before closing the door.

"Come on, let's go and continue eating, I will take you what's it all about after we finish eating, it's a surprise" replied Hendrick.

"You clearly know I'm don't like waiting in suspense, just tell me already" said Jenny.

"I will tell you when we are through eating" replied Hendrick as he walked back to the table to continue eating his food.

Throughout the time they were at the dinner table, Jenny didn't stop pressuring her husband to tell her the surprise, but Hendrick keep his cool by not agreeing to tell her.

"If you don't tell me right now, I'm going to open it by myself" said Jenny.

"Why do you always have to use some cunning means to get what you want?" asked Hendrick "Layla isn't even that curious about it" said Hendrick.

"Just tell me already"

"Alright, today makes it a year for Karin being with us, which clearly means...."

Jenny didn't even let Hendrick finish what he was saying before he completed the rest of his words.

"it's his birthday, how come I forgot something as important as that" said Jenny while feeling down because she forget and also happy because it was going to be among one of the happiest day of her life.

"I ordered a cake so we all can celebrate his birthday with it" said Hendrick.

"Did I just hear the word cake?" asked Layla "what flavor is it dad?"

"it's a chocolate flavor sweetie" replied her dad.

After their dinner, they all sang a birthday song for Karin, before blowing out the candles and cutting the cake.

Jenny cut a little piece of cake for Karin, she put it on his mouth which he ate well, but after a minute, he started throwing all he cake he took in and also the food he has eaten.

"What's the matter" said Jenny while quickly carrying Karin from the chair he was sitting "Is it that he doesn't like it, or is he allergy to it?" asked Jenny while panicking.

"Calm down Jenny, you don't have to panicked about everything, don't give him any cake until we find out from a doctor what just happened" replied Hendrick.

"I should probably go call doctor Philip, so he can some check up on him" said Jenny.

Ever since that day when Karin wasn't feeling fine and his temperature was boiling like lava, Jenny quickly employed doctor Philip as her family personal doctor that would attend to them when they are in need of his medical assistance.

Doctor Philip agreed to it the moment Jenny proposed about her request, he definitely knows the money wasn't a problem for the Lopez family as they were kind of well known over the country. That wasn't his only reason for agreeing to it. What made him agree to it quickly was that he needed some time to escape the stress of a full time doctor and also from his superior.
