CHAPTER 12 - TOUCH MY HEART

This afternoon Cameron's feelings are chaotic, he really wants to curse Emily, who again insists on marrying the geeky college friend of hers. But on the other hand he had to put all his ego down, 99.99 percent so he could talk to Elena again.

But the real problem is, Cameron really can't believe that something like this would happen to him.

Through the glass door Cameron could see Elena rushing into her office. The woman was just like herself, Elena immediately closed the door and sat back behind her desk. But somehow her face looks radiant like someone who is falling in love. And for some reason it really bothered Cameron.

The sound of the intercom from his private secretary immediately startled Cameron.

"Yes," Cameron said firmly and quickly. He obviously needed some time to be alone and think.

"Sorry to bother you, Cam," her secretary's voice came over the phone's loudspeaker. "But Mr. Wrant asked you to discuss the deposition schedule in three days."

Cameron pressed his fingers between his eyes. He was starting to get dizzy and didn't want anything to do with the opposing side's advisers.

"Thank you, I'll call him."

"Just a minute," Cameron's secretary said hastily before Cameron hung up. "Someone from Chicago spoke to me with a message that she said you'd understand." Then Cameron's secretary spoke again. "That woman told me to ask you, to not come in to Chicago later this month. Or she won't let you see Brielle forever."

Cameron closed his eyes. The headache he was feeling suddenly got worse.

Elena who looks like she's fine is actually not what she seems. She leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes. She slowly exhaled, trying to calm herself down.

It wasn't even a minute before she tried to calm herself down when her phone started ringing. Elena tried to ignore her. Then the second line rang.

Elena opened her eyes and glanced at her computer, she found more than twenty new electronic messages there.

There was a knock on the office door, and Elena had no idea it was Cameron or Patricia's secretary.

"Oh, Elena, what are you doing?" Patricia asked confused. "Mr. Rodriguez is waiting for you on the connection one , and Edward Collins on line two. He wants to discuss Kate's judgement."

Elena could barely breathe. It felt as if the walls around her were closing. And now the third phone goes sour and the ringing seems deafening.

Elena passed Patricia. Tell them all that I will contact them later. I ... have to take care of something. Something very urgent."

Then Elena rushed out of her study to the elevator that was going to take her somewhere. Elena just hit any combination of tens numbers that would take her to the top floor.

The elevator took Elena to the office library. A library that is rarely visited by lawyers who now prefer to find information through online searches.

It is rare to find a human being among the beautiful two-story mahogany bookshelves in the library. Well, except for the one and only librarian Adam Hawk.

Elena was overjoyed when her fingers could never go wrong in pressing the elevator button which took her to an oasis of peace and tranquility amidst the noisy floors in her office.

In fact, this library seems to be the only hiding place for associates and other attorneys to hide from calls, email messages, text messages or orders from superiors trying to launch an emergency TRO at four o'clock on a Friday afternoon.

Elena, the high-profile lawyer, had no intention of using the library for such petty purposes. She just figured it would make a great hiding place in case something was urgent.

Elena hurried into the library, relieved that the place was as empty as she thought. It only took her a minute or two to sort herself out. Her beautiful morning, which was actually not very beautiful, became even less beautiful when the image of Cameron kissing her clearly flashed through her mind.

All of her anger was bubbling to the surface and if Elena hadn't noticed at that moment for a moment to calm herself, her temper could have exploded.

Elena headed for the filing shelves, when she felt that she was completely shielded from sight, Elena took a deep breath as she leaned her back against the bookshelves.

Control yourself, that's what Elena told herself.

This is not doomsday. Cameron who knows all of her biggest secrets is not a threat that can ruin her career and also her life.

Cameron who kissed her warmly with a gaze that was also passionate was not a man who could take and playing her feelings like this. That guy is still a fucking jerk who ...

Before Elena could curse any more, tears of frustration welled up in her eyes. Elena looked up at the ceiling to keep the tears from falling.

That's when Elena heard that Adam the librarian was greeting someone else.

Elena peeked from behind the shelf and saw someone she didn't even want to see.

"Damn it!" Elena muttered under her breath. She really can't deal with Cameron right now. She wouldn't let the annoying man like Cameron see her looking weak for the umpteenth time.

Elena quickly wiped her tears, and she was grateful that she was using a waterproof mascara that wouldn't stain her eye area from the smudged mascara.

"Elena,"

Elena turned and looked at Cameron with a disinterested look. "Looking for something to research?"

Cameron shook his head.

Elena walked past Cameron nonchalantly. "You followed me here? Looking for me?"

Obviously Cameron looked very embarrassed by the question. "I just saw you coming out of your office, and..."

"Ah, so you are following me? But make no mistake, I just need to find something to do with the Johanson case in here," Elena dodged.

"I need you, Elena." Cameron said it quickly and without pause.

Good, realized Elena. Suddenly her tears threatened to well up again when she heard Cameron say that.
