Upholding the Contract

Blush stood in front of the two children and said. "You have no need to be so wary of me, i will say my piece and then leave. Whatever your choice is will be solely up to you."

She took out a drawing of an old man and held it in front of them while talking in a lower voice that only they could hear. "See this person? You should know him since you live on the same back streets. He has passed away recently and he has made a request of me to help out you two. The problem is that I will be leaving soon so I cannot remain here to look out for you as he has asked.

The city is experiencing changes that are not good for anyone living here so it would be best for you to leave. Kids like you living in such a place will be the ones to face the most difficult times so you should follow me. If you wish to leave the city with me then just follow me, if not then just take a little Zeni to help you to find a place to live and to put a little food in you."

Blush would not simply completely abandon them if they refused and there would always be alternative options available.

If there was no options for them then she was not really trying to help them as she had promised.

The young boy studied the picture and recognised it. "So you mean he is gone? It was not long ago that we saw him last. How can we trust you? You could be one of those bad people that are trying to trick us. There have been many people like us disappearing and you could be with them."

The girl by his side nodded in agreement. "Brother is right."

It was clear to Blush that the children were very vigilant towards her and others while they knew far more about what was happening within the city than others.

She had seen read the memories of Dr Gero and had seen that he was involved in a lot of what was happening.

If his experiments needed test subjects then they would be brought to him and if there was a lack of them then they would undergo live testing so that he could gather more data on the effects and flaws of what he was developing.

Blush had read the memories of the old man before he died so she knew enough about the two children from the old man. "I understand that you cannot trust me right away but the old man asked me to help you out. You are a brother and sister who shared your food with him, he was worried that your kinder nature would make you both have a difficult time to survive in a place like this.

I cannot just give you some Zeni right here and would have to make preparations for you if you cannot trust me and will not follow. If you do not wish to remain in this city and do not want to follow me then I could arrange for you to move to another city that is further away?"

It was easy for a couple of small and weak children to be taken advantage of in the back streets and it was only a matter of time before that would happen.

Their kind nature was not suited to the back streets where most were out for themselves and they could easily become the next people to disappear due to them having nobody to guard them.

If she gave them the Zeni then it was like putting a target on their backs which would only increase the chances of them encountering a bad situation.

If they declined then all she could do was try to prepare alternative solution that would provide them with a safer environment where they would be able to start anew.

Blush continued to speak of some old memories that only the old man would know about which further convinced them that she knew him. "So what are your decisions kids?"

The boy and girl were quietly whispering to themselves until they turned back to Blush and the boy said. "Take us somewhere safer."

Blush showed a slight smile and replied. "How far do you want to go? The next city over or to somewhere much further?"

The boy looked towards his sister and spoke up again. "The further the better."

Blush nodded in response and said. "Follow me and I will have you stay somewhere temporarily. I will cover the basics until I get back so just remain there until I return. Just keep your heads low and do not draw attention to yourselves then everything should work out as planned."

They both nodded their heads and stood up. "Okay."

Blush lead them to one of the better inns in the city and rented a room which had a couple of days time paid for along with having meals prepared and sent to the room.

She walked around the city and arrived in front of a building to enact the next part of her goals before she left the city for good. 'If they stuck with me then their safety would have been more assured but it is their own freedom to make their own decisions so I will not force them. Whatever happens after I have completed this task is no longer my responsibility but hopefully they can postpone their deaths that were guaranteed if they continued to live here. Perhaps they will have more of a chance further away from here and can live long lives.

Perhaps this ongoing mess that has started here may not reach them so I cannot be thinking so negatively and perhaps me moving them may cause serious changes to that location but I did not detect anything special from them besides their slightly better smarts than most kids that came from a similar upbringing. Unless they become strong or smart enough to influence change then it should not be that big of an issue and they can just live an ordinary life.'

She looked at the sign that was hanging above the door and entered. 'There is no use worrying too much about it now. A contract is a contract. Now I just need to see a few familiar faces..'

As Blush had entered the building, the heat rushed towards her and the sound of metal being hit resounded within the room.

A slight smile appeared on her face. 'I have not visited that often since I had learned enough from them but I could not just disappear so coldly without a single farewell.'

A lot of tanned and muscular men appeared before her wearing light clothing that left their arms exposed and their skin was very tanned from the heat,

Some of them were very familiar to Blush but there were some were new faces among them.

Each of them were working on the forges tirelessly as if they had been working a long time and they had no plans to stop anytime soon so Blush waited to be seen. 'Even they have noticed something is wrong in the city.. they must be preparing enough arms to fight back if it comes down to that. Sadly they cannot fight what is being spread around, it would be a shame for some talents to be lost like that.'
