Chapter 294: Birthday Gift (Edited)

After getting the textbooks from the poor clerk, the group quickly left the bookstore, as the resentful look in the clerk's eyes was too uncomfortable.

Once outside the bookstore, the group decided to split up.

The twins were going to go to the Gambol & Japes Joke Shop to buy some merchandise, in their words, to do some market research and study their future rivals in the Weasley Magical Tricks Shop.

"I'm not going to let you two spend your money on those toys!"

Percy, who was in control of the finances, said in a stern voice.

"Oh, my old friend, don't bother."

George gave Percy an uncharacteristic wave and pulled out a bag of money that, from the looks of it, contained no less coins than the one Percy was holding in his hand.

After shaking the bag in his hand, George said with a hint of sarcasm, "We have enough money, and.... we've earned it ourselves."

And then Percy's face got even uglier.

The twins didn't give an inch to Percy and, after a pinch, waved to Fish and left.

Percy adjusted quickly, as he and the twins had been at each other's throats for a long time.

"We should go buy Ron a wand, follow me."

The twins' sarcasm had some effect, and at least Percy had hidden his Prefect dignity a bit, still with a bit of authority, but not as aloof from the others as before.

"Percy still looks better like this nya."

Choosing a wand was a tedious process, but this time Ollivander's experience paid off and Ron only had to try three or five wands before he found the one that suited him best.
