Chapter 243: At the end of life (Edited)

As Hermione discussed the evening's plans in the foyer, Fish was sitting next to Professor McGonagall, expertly using a knife and fork to quickly slice the steak in front of him and bring it to his mouth.

Fish's movements were standard and fluid, with a sense of elegance unique to cats.

A bet is a bet, and the kitty kept his word in this regard.

As Fish ate from his plate, he laughed and joked with Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout, while Fawkes, who had been following him, flapped his wings and flew to Dumbledore's side.

Fawkes first took off Dumbledore's glasses and then rested his head on his right temple.

Although Dumbledore could not understand the phoenix's action, Fawkes was more than just a pet to him, he was under a magical contract with Dumbledore, as was Uroboros, so Dumbledore could get full information from Fawkes in other ways.

"Okay, I understand."

After receiving Fawkes' message, Dumbledore's blue eyes blinked a couple of times as he put on his glasses and returned to his smiling expression.

He reached out and stroked Fawkes' beautiful gold and red feathers, thanking him, "Thank you for your hard work, you'd better stay by Fish's side."

"Caw..."

Fawkes shouted softly, then pecked Dumbledore's beard with his beak, then fluttered off again, flying towards Fish and landing on his shoulder.

"Nya? Fawkes, are you back?"

?ω?

Fish pulled a mushroom with a large cap out of his bag and held it up to Fawkes' mouth, "You hungry nya?"

"Caw..."

Fawkes replied nonchalantly, and began pecking the mushroom into Fish's hand.

"It's a jumping mushroom."

Professor Sprout poked her head out and said confidently, as Hogwarts Herbology teacher, there was no way she could be wrong about the plant Fish had in his hand, and she had only recently introduced it to her students.

"Really..." said Professor Sprout with a helpless sigh, "It seems that the little ones in my House are secretly taking plants out of the greenhouse again..."

Because she has been doing this for so long, the Hufflepuff students have also developed a similar habit, they always like to take something from the greenhouse to grow.

Then Professor Sprout looked at Fawkes, who was leaning on Fish's shoulder, and said enviously, "This is the first time I've seen Fawkes eat the food he's been given...".

Professor Sprout, who spent a lot of time in the greenhouse, had crossed paths with Fawkes many times, as he occasionally went there to eat.

Professor Sprout had tried to feed Fawkes on more than one occasion, but unfortunately the other party didn't bother to talk to her and just pecked at the plants in the greenhouse pot.

So it would be a lie to say that Professor Sprout didn't feel envious at the sight of Fawkes, for a change, eating the food out of Fish's hands with affection.

It's just that...

"It doesn't seem so surprising when it happens to Fish."

Professor Sprout burst out laughing and, undeterred, picked up Fish's half-eaten jumping mushroom and tried again to feed it to Fawkes.

"Caaw..."

Fawkes glanced at the food in his hand and then turned his head away, not bothering.

"As expected."

Shaking her head helplessly, Professor Sprout handed the jumping mushroom back to Fawkes.

"Nya?"

Fish scratched his head, wanting Fawkes to do Aunt Pomona a favor, but feeling it wasn't fair to Fawkes.

So, after a moment's hesitation, Fish wiggled his ears, said nothing, and continued to pick up the jumping mushroom and handed it to Fawkes.

The Christmas party was soon over, and Fish took Fawkes back to the Common Room, where he returned to his catlike form and curled up in a chair by the fireplace, while Fawkes curled up next to him, the two gray and red balls of fur leaned together and fell asleep.

While Fish slept, others were busy.

Harry and Ron had sneaked two pieces of chocolate cake from the noon party and sprinkled on the hypnotic pills Hermione had given them.

"I mean, is this plan really going to work?" asked Ron sheepishly as he looked at Hermione who was still stirring the Multijuice Potion.

"Do you have a better idea?" asked Hermione without looking back, her face beaming as a puff of black smoke billowed out of the cauldron.

After leafing through 'Moste Potente Potions' again to make sure that the Multijuice Potion in the cauldron was exactly as described in the book, Hermione nodded in satisfaction and closed the book.

She then walked over to a shelf, picked up some corked glass bottles and used a long-handled spoon to pour the Multijuice Potion from the cauldron into these bottles.

"This room is really cool, and in it you can find some tools you need!" exclaimed Hermione before handing Harry and Ron the two stoppered vials.

"The only downside is that this room is on the seventh floor, and the Multijuice Potion only lasts for an hour, so to be on the safe side, we can't be here when we transform." He said, as he stowed the other glass vials filled with the Multijuice Potion in his backpack, ready to be delivered to Fish later.

"I've got a good place to go."

Harry couldn't back out, so he thought positively, and then thought about the subway classroom where he had gone to the doomsday party with Ron.

When he told Hermione about the place, she clapped her hands excitedly, "Great, next we'll go to the laundromat, steal a few changes of clothes and wait for the night to come."

Ron looked at the excited Hermione and then at Harry, who had become more aggressive, sighed helplessly, then shook the glass bottle in his hand and said resignedly, "Well, let's hope this isn't too bad with Crabbe and Goyle's hair in it."

Besides the three of them, Dumbledore, who had received information about the Chamber of Secrets from Fawkes, was also busy.

He had snuck into the girls' washroom on the second floor after the party and had approached the innermost washroom.

"I didn't expect the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets to be here... Yeah, this is where Myrtle died.... I guess I was right... only, why Ginny Weasley?" muttered Dumbledore as he caressed a small snake-shaped carving on the side of the bronze basin after careful inspection.

Although the entrance had been hexed by Slytherin, Dumbledore was not helpless, but to do so would have caused too much damage to the surroundings and would have made too much noise to be worth it until Voldemort was brought in.

Besides, the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets has a good relationship with Fish, so he should try to get the cat to bring him in, not necessarily kill him....

After all, it's not easy to see a basilisk these days, and Fish would be heartbroken if he did.

The most important thing right now is to find out what's going on with Ginny, if she's under the Imperius Curse or something.

"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..."

"Hahahahahahahahahaha! Look at this."

Just as Dumbledore turned to leave the place, Myrtle the weeping Myrtle screamed and came through the wall, followed by Peeves who was chasing and intimidating her.

So the two bursting ghosts met Dumbledore, who was about to leave.

Myrtle: "!!!!"

Peeves: "!!!!"

Dumbledore: "..."
