Chapter 214: Fish's change (Edited)

"Nya?". ?ω?

The kitten, who was listening to a story in Professor McGonagall's office, looked up at the ceiling again.

"What's wrong?"

Professor McGonagall frowned and looked up as well.

The twins had been prepared, they were unlikely to be running around now, so which of the students had snuck out after dinner and were still having fun?

Just as Professor McGonagall was about to ask Fish a question, he jumped off her lap first and immediately reverted to his Catman form when he landed.

"Minerva! It's Argus' shout!"

Fish flapped his ears and shouted nervously, "Looks like something happened to Norris nya!"

And with that, he ran out of the office.

Professor McGonagall was stunned for a moment and got up to follow him, but Fish was so fast that by the time she left the office, Fish was out of sight.

But Fish had been staring at the ceiling, so Professor McGonagall didn't need to think about it and simply went upstairs.

"It's you, you killed my cat!" Argus grabbed Harry and Ron by the shirt collar one by one, shaking them frantically, "I'm going to kill you! I'll avenge Norris!"

Harry swore, he had never seen such a vicious side to Filch...though he had always been synonymous with being scary and annoying to every student but Fish.

"Not us...when we arrived, he was already like this!"

Harry and Ron, terrified by the look on Filch's face, defended themselves in shaky voices, but it was a shame that Filch had lost his mind at this point and couldn't hear the two's words at all.

Just as Filch's movements were getting bigger and bigger, and he was about to hurt Harry and Ron, Fish, who was running all the way, finally arrived.

"Argus! What's wrong with Norris?!"

Fish hurried to the trio's side and, without waiting for an answer, saw Lady Norris hanging from the torch.

"Nya!" ∑(●``д′●)

His tail fur exploded and in the blink of an eye, Fish leapt at the wall and the dangling Lady Norris.

"My poor Lady Norris..."

After Fish's arrival, Filch finally calmed down a bit, pulling Harry and Ron away from him, he walked over to Fish and looked at Mrs. Norris, who was rigid, and finally couldn't help but cover his face and cry.

"What happened?"

Professor McGonagall finally arrived, as did Lockhart, who had heard the commotion, and a handful of students who had slipped out to walk around.

But as soon as they saw Professor McGonagall, they quickly slipped away, and Professor McGonagall was too busy to bother with the students who had broken school rules.

"Professor!"

Filch wiped tears from his face, then pointed at Harry and Ron and shouted, "They did it! They killed my cat!"

"We didn't..."

Harry replied dryly.

Professor McGonagall scanned him and Ron, then looked at Lady Norris, who was being held by Fish.

"Don't worry, let's find a place and then you can talk about what happened."

"Let's go to my office!" Lockhart offered, "My office is closer to here, just downstairs!"

Looking at Lockhart with a frown, Professor McGonagall nodded, "It would be my pleasure, Professor Lockhart."

Although she wasn't very pleased, now was obviously not the time to worry about such things.

"You take them there first and I'll report to Dumbledore."

"Don't bother, Minerva."

A serious-looking Dumbledore appeared around the corner, followed by an equally serious-looking Snape.

Dumbledore first scanned the writing on the wall with his blue eyes and, after a moment of silence, turned his gaze to the motionless Lady Norris in Fish's arms.

"I can't stay in my office after what has happened," Dumbledore nodded weakly to Lockhart, "Well, let's go to Gilderoy's office first."

"I'll lead the way!"

Lockhart looked very excited, he walked at the head with great vigor, leading the way to his office.

Fish, who was holding Lady Norris, narrowed his eyes....

Suddenly, he too was beginning to hate Lockhart a little.

They all entered Lockhart's office, where the walls were covered with pictures of him, and all the Lockhart's were smiling their trademark smiles, except for a few of the Lockhart's with curlers who were hiding in fright.

As the real Lockhart lit the candle, Dumbledore took Lady Norris by Fish's hand, placed her on the table, and inspected her carefully.

Professor McGonagall, meanwhile, knelt down and put her arm around a depressed Fish, gently patting her head.

"Don't worry, Fish, Albus will find a way."

"But..." Fish pursed his lips, ducked his ears and said in a sobbing voice, "There's no life left in Norris' body..."

Filch off to the side heard this and cried out sadly again, dropped into a chair, covered his face with his hands, sobbed loudly and dared not look at Mrs. Norris at the table.

"It must have been a spell that killed her, probably a hex. I've seen it used many times, and it's a pity it wasn't there, I know the cure that would have saved her..."

Lockhart was still hovering around Dumbledore, prattling on about the idea.

As he spoke, Lockhart's pictures on the wall nodded in agreement.

Although what he said seemed to be a pity for Mrs. Norris, but for some reason Fish felt very uncomfortable listening to him....

So the kitten frowned and looked at Lockhart, who was still chatting there, and his tail wagged involuntarily a couple of times.

"He's not dead, Argus."

Dumbledore, who had finally finished his inspection, straightened up and whispered, causing Lockhart, who was still bragging about how many murders he had prevented, to stop instantly.

"She's simply petrified." explained Dumbledore.

"Ah! I think so too!" said Lockhart immediately, but by then no one was paying attention to him.

"She's petrified?" Fish scurried over to the table and looked at Dumbledore suspiciously, "But Fish has seen people hit by this spell before, and they all still have breath of life."

"It's not a common petrification spell like Petrification Totalus, it's a very high level of dark magic."

Dumbledore frowned, "But what exactly it is, I'm not sure..."

Fish tried to cast a rejuvenation spell on Lady Norris, but it didn't have much effect, but with this spell he did catch a very faint whiff of life.

"Norris isn't really dead nya!"

(●φωφ●●)

Fish's ears perked up again immediately, and he hurried to bring his whole face close to Lady Norris's body, and felt it again.

"I can feel her vital breath, it's very little, but Norris is really alive!"

He turned to Filch and Professor McGonagall and shouted gleefully.

In addition to being glad that Lady Norris was alive, Fish was also glad that...he had nothing to do with Uroboros.

He had thought Lady Norris was dead, and immediately thought of what Kanaloa had told him, that ordinary creatures would die if they saw the eyes of a basilisk.

The reason Fish had been so depressed, aside from his grief over the death of his best friend, was that he had been torn between telling the truth about Uroboros.

Now that Lady Norris wasn't dead, that meant it hadn't been Uroboros, and Dumbledore had just said it was a form of advanced dark magic, so it was even less likely that Uroboros had done it....

He doesn't even have hands, he can't even hold a wand.
