Once that was taken care of I call out to Inigo and M'rissi, "Hey, I'm going to head upstairs, you two clear the basement and the safe. Things have been going well, keep it up and we'll make out of here like bandits!" I exclaim quietly.
"I agree my friend, so long as we don't end up smelling like bandits." Inigo snickers.
"Yes, she very much does not like the smell of the sewer and does not wish to go back there anytime soon." M'rissi says shockingly agreeing with Inigo for once.
"Sure, we'll get a nice long bath after this job, alright?" I joke as we split up.
I make my way up the stairs, sneaking behind the guard sitting at a chair outside Aringoth's room.
I slink behind him, slowly getting closer…
*Bbbbffffffffpppppt… toot.*
"Whew, glad no one heard that." The guard who just let one rip in my face says…
No killing, no killing, no killing… I constantly repeat to myself trying to silently get the taste of shit and rotten cabbage out of my mouth. I wrap his neck with my forearm and pull it back with my other arm to cut off air and blood to his brain before whispering in his ear, "Eat less cabbage…"
I then make my way toward Aringoth's door and pick the lock to open the door and sneak into his room.
I proceed to take everything of value from his room, mainly the Larceny item for Delvin and I wrote a note for Aringoth to give to the person who instructed him to turn on the Thieves Guild.
[Aringoth, pass this note on to your benefactor, or the next time I visit, you won't be waking up to a note, in fact, you won't be waking up at all. And know, I only spared you to deliver this message as the ones who hired me are fine with the death of a disloyal dog.]
[I shall contact you where the nightingale broke the Nocturnal cage.]
There, Karliah should be able to understand that message and I can leave her a more detailed note at the entrance of Nightingale Hall on our way to Euphoria Palace. I think to myself before going down into the basement to meet up with Inigo and M'rissi.
Once down there I see them bickering over how to get into the safe, with both of them having apparently having failed.
"She is certain you stupid stray! It is half right then twist!" M'rissi exclaims heatedly.
"And I told you, you annoying kitten! It's half left then twist, I felt the tumbler move!" Inigo retorts.
*Hisss* "You do not call her kitten, she is M'rissi to you and only her Fluffy can call her kitten!" M'rissi yells at him.
"Alright, enough you two! I have the key, let's clear the safe and get out of here with our spoils!" I say pulling out Aringoth's key and taking everything from the safe, most important of which is the Bill of Sale, proving Aringoth sold the Honeyfarm to some mysterious benefactor.
And with all the mercenaries taken care of, we begin striping them and the estate of anything of value, and load it onto a small boat that we paddle into the docks and begin to silently unload it into the rat ways, while avoiding the guard patrols.
Once back down all the way into the ragged flagon, I fence what I can to Tonila before donating the food to the Guild and setting up the remaining armor and weapons to be smelted down into raw components later. And once that's all done, I go and find Brynjolf, who is walking around the Cistern monitoring the Guild's supplies.
"Word around the Guild is that you hit Goldenglow and you hit it hard. Good job, you little shit, I knew you had it in you." I says, clasping me on the shoulder with a grin.
"Of course, just wait till you start to hear the rumors about what happened there, I think the Guild is about to get a major reputation boost. I also found this too." I say handing over the Bill of Sale.
"Aringoth sold Goldenglow? What's that idiot thinking? He has no idea the extent of Maven's fury when she's been cut out of a deal, but I'm certain he'll find out. If only this parchment had the buyer's name instead of this odd symbol. Any idea what that might be?" Brynjolf asks.
"Nope, no clue." I lie.
"Blast! Well, I'll check my sources and speak to Mercer. But for now, you're off to speak to Maven Black-Briar. She asked for you by name." Brynjolf says with a hint of respect.
"Why does she want to see me? I thought I did the job fuckin' perfect?" I ask with a fake confused face.
"Oh, no. Nothing like that. You're calling on her for business." Brynjolf explains.
"What does Maven want from your best new recruit?" I ask with interest.
"That's between you and Maven and I prefer to keep it that way. Don't worry about it. Maven's business dealings usually involve quite a bit of gold for her people." Brynjolf says.
"And speaking of gold…" I say giving him a knowing look.
"Of course… Your pay. Haha! You're smart as a whip, you little shit. Keep doing right by us and there's plenty more where that came from." Brynjolf says handing me a pouch of 400 gold. "Until next we meet, lad."
"See you old man." I say smiling as I count my haul from this job.
After selling all the loot, counting the coins from the mercs, estate, and the job, and the materials i'll get from breaking down the leftover goods. I've made at least 1,000 gold from this job and the raw goods will help cut some costs at the Company Headquarters once I get it back to them.
I'm in quite high spirits as I leave the Ragged Flagon and come out the Rat Way and make my way up the stairs to the street level. When I hear it…
There you go, everyone! I fought hard to finish this arc for you by my self-imposed deadline. And I hope to continue with a regular updating schedule of two per week. A slight trigger warning, there will be violence and children in the next chapter. So skip it if you prefer, just know this is an important moment of the story. I look forward to writing more for you all.
