Taehyun's pov
Fuck. I thought I was prepared for everything.
That is what's running through my head as I threw a glance towards Beomgyu. I doubt he'd help me with this because it's his own father and I'm a cop who can lie for the sake of my pride.
"Soobin this Soobin that." Beomgyu reached out for the nurse call button and a second later a female nurse asked what's wrong.
"Please help me drag people out of my room. They're so noisy I can't sleep peacefully."
"You insolent fool!"
"See what I mean? It's probably better to call the police at this point."
Beomgyu's annoying smug got me worried his own father might end up punching him despite his current condition.
And screw all my plans in one go.
"My apologies Mr. Choi. I should probably go and leave you two alone." I bowed down and slowly left the scene before the old man asks anything else that could get me in trouble.
The two remained arguing inside while I mini jog towards the elevator. I quickly pushed the button but way it was rising too slowly is giving me anxiety.
And when it reached the floor, I got stunned at the sight of a woman with her black hair tied in a bun, wearing a black informal blazer and skinny trousers, paired with pure, plain white blouse and pointy black high-heeled shoes.
She looks simplistic without much accessories besides the high end watch and yet exudes an exceptional aura when she walked out without even looking at me.
A buff man followed her like some guard dog and at that moment I realized she's Beomgyu's mom.
"What happened?"
Cass asked worriedly and looked on both sides of the hallway. "Why did you leave him alone?"
"I was in a pinch. Woah." I grunted when she suddenly grab ahold of my left arm and pulled me inside the narrow space before pushing the close button.
"You know Beomgyu's innocent right?" She said in a puppy eyed manner which got me taken aback for a second.
"Y-yeah."
"If I ask you to protect him from his own father, will you do it?" She continued but this time her expression changed into a sharper tone.
"Well… it depends."
"Of course it's not for free." She sighed deeply. "I'll pay you triple of what you earn in a year."
I almost choked at her offer. No wonder higher ranking officials tend to sway to the dark side.
I agreed even though I have no plans on taking her money. I just need enough evidence to get this organization exposed to the media and reclaim our jobs back. To make amends to the cops I dragged into this mess.
"Then it's settled."
She opened the elevator and told me to follow her back to Beomgyu's room. His father just left and is now walking furiously towards us while his mom is being supported by the guard on her elbow while standing in front of the door, crying silently.
Cass only nodded at her and she smiled back when we entered the room. Even though it was very subtle, I still caught it and something tells me that was all an act. I just wonder for what reason.
"Wait, I'll have to explain the situation to the nurses or else I won't be able to stay here after visiting hours."
"No need." She said without looking. "We're leaving anyway."
