The harsh bang on the door woke Forsyth up. He hadn't slept for long and he still felt a little fuzzy. He slid down from his bed and ambled towards his door, after checking who it was he unlocked the door.
"What is it?" His voice was deep and husky as he stared at Sean.
"The men were here." Sean's anxious voice made him blink. He looked past Sean and looked around.
"What do you mean?" He rubbed his face to clear his eyes.
"They took Mildred." This made Forsyth halt all of a sudden. His head snapped at Sean and he looked into his eyes to check if he was lying, but he wasn't.
Dammit!
"How is that possible? I asked you to keep watch on her!" He became furious and pushed past Sean to search for Mildred. He ran to the room he kept her but she wasn't there. He heard footsteps behind him and he looked back and saw the almost teary Sean.
"I…I saw this letter on her table." His voice shook and he stretched his hand to Forsyth.
Forsyth picked up the letter and opened it; he didn't fail to see his father's seal on it.
~~ The West is a short path to the north, and so South. But never the East.
Don't try anything stupid, the bird has many feathers to tug. ~~
Forsyth squeezed the letter and threw it away, forcefully.
"It was John, he sent John after her."
Sean's eyes dilated.
John was the first son of their uncle. Their father blindly trusted their uncle and favored his son, John, more than them.
"Father would never do that," Sean said as he shook his head and stared at Forsyth with disbelief.
"Oh yes, he would." His jaw ticked. "I wonder why he hasn't given the kingship to John, he was his best candidate after Dominus."
"Father might be blind towards them, but he is too egoistic and proud to let the kingship leave his family," Sean responded. "John always covers his tracks, but I can go after him. There's always a loophole in what he does." Sean told Forsyth.
"Going after him means getting on father's bad side, and father is brutal." Forsyth waited for a few seconds before continuing. "I'll go after him."
"No, you're not. You can't afford to make father angry." His anxious voice was weak. "Don't forget the last time you decided to stand against father, I almost lost you." "I'm not letting you do that again."
"Then we need to find someone that isn't worried about getting on father's bad side, someone father wouldn't think of offending." The two of them stared into each other's eyes… and countered at the same time…
"Dominus."

"What did you do, Forsyth? Were you trying to defy my words?!!" An Elderly Man's voice thundered the room, his voice was thick and harsh.
"John tried to take Sean forcefully, he killed three of his friends and stabbed Sean for disagreeing to comply with him," Forsyth said with his head bowed.
They were inside a big chamber, then relaxing before Forsyth was the King, his father.
"I permitted him. Fighting him means fighting me, and I guess you're ready to fight with me." The king's eyes went red with fury. He stood up from his throne and two guards ran closer to him with a long robe. He removed the robe around his body and wore the robe the guards brought.
Forsyth shifted backward in confusion.
"Father, I didn't mean to defy your words, he…he wanted Sean dead, and Sean couldn't fight because he knew you instructed John to. But father Sean Is your son, not John."
His father walked down his altar and stepped closer to Forsyth. "I wouldn't have chosen John if he didn't prove to be more useful than all of you."
"He ain't better than us, father. What you wanted was assassins, you wanted your sons to be murderers who prey on the weak."
"Talking back at me now, aren't you," He walks nigher to Forsyth. "And those feathers of yours need to be broken." Without giving Forsyth time to adjust to his speech he slapped him hard and Forsyth slammed into the wall.
He groaned as he fell to the ground.
Blood spilled out at the side of his lips.
"Who's giving you such courage? A little birdy?" Forsyth didn't even stand on his feet properly before another blast came.
Forsyth became bewildered. He looked to the side and found a smirking John, and a scared Sean.
His father tugged him off the ground and landed a blow on his face repeatedly.
The reason he couldn't retaliate or block the blows was his father made him go weak before fighting with him. Something a king possesses once he ascends the throne.
He felt his father's hand creeping upward to cup his neck, dread-filled Forsyth. His father was very brutal, killing his son over his outrage wasn't uncommon.
He felt his tightening grip, he couldn't breathe normally as his breathing started coming out barely. His eyes were becoming heavy and his body was almost limp.
"Murdering of sons isn't something I'd opt for, let him go." He felt his father's body become tense and he halted his movement, his hand around his neck loosened as he fell to the ground.
"Ahh…Dominus, I didn't know you were visiting today." His father's aura changes in a split of an eye.
Forsyth could barely open his eyes and his breathing went back to regular gradually.
"Keeping you on the throne seemed to be a bad idea, David, I should start searching for a candidate for the throne." Forsyth heard Dominus say, followed by his father's terrified voice.
"I'm…I'm so sorry Master Dominus, please pardon me." His father pleaded. "I'll try my best from now on, one last chance, please…" Forsyth didn't hear the rest of the conversation as he fell entirely unconscious.
The last words he heard were…
"The royal ancestors aren't pleased, they want a dethronement from you."
