Melissa hummed thoughtfully and slid her knife over a tender slice of turkey. She brought it to her lips with a hum. "Nothing comes to mind. No."
Rodrigo swirled the wine around in the glass, holding it firmly by the thin stem.
Vice was shooting him concerned looks from the corner of his eye, but Davi didn't think there was any real danger while Rodrigo and Melissa were circling each other like leopards.
This song and dance must have been old news for them.
Which meant he and Vice had been played. Melissa wasn't nearly as helpless as she looked.
"I have to give you credit, they work fast," Rodrigo said, nodding in Davi's and Vice's direction. "Usually you like to butter up your nurses for at least a month, before siccing them on me."
Melissa shrugged. She chewed carefully, her eyes focused on her plate but not out of any sense of deference towards Rodrigo. She was ignoring him.
"I thought I'd try something new."
