"WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME, BLAIR?" Cadmus screamed rather than said.

Silence. In the aftermath of the question, a pin drop could be heard. 

He could almost hear Blair thinking. No one moved until Jamir dropped his guitar pick, and Irvin took in a shuddering breath. Colt seemed speechless as well. 

Cadmus would take that for what it's worth. But soon enough, all heads turned to Blair.

Surely, she would let him down lightly. 'I mean, she never saw me that way.' Perhaps, she would even think him funny. 

And there was a chance that Blair would laugh and congratulate Cadmus on telling a good joke.

However, she did not shake her head, nor break into fits of laughter. Instead, she regarded him with a curious look. Like earlier, her eyes searched his for something that she could not find.
