"Your grace, I must say, despite your absence for the last 3 Seasons, when it comes to your dancing, you still haven't lost your touch." Emily complemented as she rose from her curtsy.

Charlton smiled as he shook his head. "Lady Evans, it's because you're a graceful dancer yourself." He replied. Then, keeping in mind his dance with Annalys, he asked, "Do you have an arrangement for the next number?"

"Perhaps. How about you?" Emily answered naturally.

If Charlton didn't know better, he would assume that she was flirting with him. "I have signed my name on Lady Cross' dance card."

"Oh, but haven't you already danced with her for the opening number? By the way, I am almost hurt that you haven't thought of me then." Emily said with mock hurt.

Charlton snorted.

Emily grinned. "In any case, the next dance would be the second time you dance with her. So, does that mean that you're truly interested?" she baited. Well, she wanted to know for sure.
