A Promotion

"I actually have no idea." Kanzaki said to Selena when he was posed with such a dangerous question. He wasn't an idiot and had picked up on the fact that Selena's love for him was more than a little extreme. Sometimes that love even scared Kanzaki but he thought that was one of her many charms.

However, in a situation like this he would leave it to Selena to make the decisions, "Do you mind if I check who it is love?~" Selena asked with a calm expression on her face although Kanzaki knew deep in his mind that this calm expression was just an act trying to hide how annoyed she was that someone had interrupted their morning.

"Sure I don't mind. I will keep making breakfast then." Kanzaki said with a nervous chuckle as he turned his body back toward his cooking utensils and began to finish up the breakfast he had been preparing.

As Kanzaki continued to cook he heard the door open and the voice of the person outside, "Is this Kanzaki's apartment?" The person outside asked in confusion when Selena answered the door. When Kanzaki heard that voice he shivered and hesitantly looked toward the doorway only to see his mother who was now looking at him with a slightly annoyed expression.

"Yes, and who might you be?~" Selena asked Kanzaki's mother who was in the doorway bringing her attention back to Selena who was left shocked when she saw the pure coldness in Selena's eyes staring back at her.

"I-i'm his mother, June ,and who are you?" Kanzaki's mom otherwise known as June said to Selena making her face contort into over 10 different emotions at the same time before ending in embarrassment.

O-OH I'M SORRY MA'AM! MY NAME IS SELENA AND I'M YOUR SON'S FIANCE!" Selena shouted like a soldier before bowing in respect much to the shock of both June and Kanzaki. The shouting wasn't the only thing that surprised June as she processed what Selena said.

When Kanzaki heard Selena not realize that June was his mother he chuckled since he had seen it happen many times before. June was a woman of average height and size sitting around 5 feet and 7 inches tall. As for her appearance, she was always wearing a suit and had her hair tied in a bun due to the job that she had been working for most of her life, which also helped make it where she always knew how to make herself look younger than she actually was.

"F-fiance?! Since when were you getting married Kanzaki and why is she half naked?!" June stuttered on the verge of shouting as her mind had been assaulted by so many things at once since the door to his apartment had opened.

When Selena heard this she looked down at herself and quickly realized that she wasn't supposed to look like this in front of June so she quickly ran into Kanzaki's room without a word while Kanzaki laughed at her new demeanor, "I might have forgotten to tell you about that, I have a fiancé now." Kanzaki laughed.

June stood in the doorway slack-jawed for a moment before pushing her way inside, "Well she definitely seems to be something. How indecent of her to walk around like that and even answer the door half-naked." June criticized making Kanzaki's playful expression quickly go away.

"Don't say that about her." Kanzaki said with a stern expression looking at his mother. She had just arrived and was already saying something negative about Selena which Kanzaki was not ok with in the slightest.

June was especially shocked by this since Kanzaki never normally said anything back to her no matter what she said, "Why should I not? Did you see how she treated me since the second I walked in this door?" June said with anger clear in her voice. She was apparently not amused by the cute scene that Kanzaki had just witnessed.

"It doesn't matter. This is our home and you're a guest who arrived earlier than we thought so be respectful of those accommodating you. This is technically her apartment building after all." Kanzaki said with disdain showing that he would kick June out if it there was a choice between her and Selena.

June was surprised by the sudden fightback from Kanzaki as he had never shown something like this before but she was even more surprised by the end of Kanzaki's sentence, "What do you mean owner of this apartment?!" June asked in confusion.

"I can answer that for you!" Selena said cheerfully as she walked back into the living room fully dressed ignoring all the things she had heard June say about her and also her fast-beating heart after hearing Kanzaki defend her.

"This apartment building is actually owned by me and my company. Me and Kanzaki just decided to stay here together since we like the area so much." Selena continued as June listened closely.

"How could you be the owner? The owner of this building is also the owner of the building in the middle of the city! That person is even higher up than the people I work for there's no way!" June said in anger getting annoyed that Selena was trying to lie to her so much. The job that Kanzaki had mentioned previously was coincidentally apartment upkeeping which June had been in charge of for many years which made her suspicion high when a younger girl like Selena said she was her superior,

Kanzaki was about to say something about the way June was talking to Selena but she stopped him by placing her hand up and gesturing him to wait a second. He didn't really understand this but he trusted Selena so he waited.

After a second or two, there was a sudden buzzing sound that rang out from June's pocket confusing her as she took her phone out of her pocket, "Who could be calling me on my day off?!" June said angrily but once she saw the caller her attitude quickly changed as she answered the phone as fast as she could.

"G-great commissioner James what could make you call me on a day like today?" June stuttered as she answered the phone seemingly talking to someone much higher than her in her job.

'What is happening right now?' Kanzaki thought in confusion as he glanced at Selena who was only smiling as she watched the scene unfold in front of her. When Kanzaki saw Selena's smile he assumed she had something to do with whatever was happening so he turned his gaze back to his mom and continued to watch as her expression morphed multiple times.

"W-what? I'm getting a promotion?" June stuttered suddenly as she listened to the person on the other side of the phone for a moment before switching her gaze toward a smiling Selena.

"Yes sir I will do my best thank you very much." June said with clear glee before she hung up the phone without taking her eyes off Selena for even a second.
