It was one of the only structures in the region of space that was still left standing. The Bloody Dawn's ships, as they had carried out their seemingly indiscriminate destruction of anything that belonged to humanity in the far reaches of the Linthol system, had actually chosen to ignore a number of targets that they could have very easily destroyed on their way.

In the shuttle on the way to the research station, Gus couldn't help but liken the surviving structure to a small island with a lighthouse in the middle of a storm. While everything was crashing around it, and nothing else could survive the destruction that seemed to arrive for no particular reason to this place, it stood prominent in space. It was like a message to anyone that could see it. A message of resistance, a message that the Bloody Dawn were not a all powerful force that they had no chance, no hope of stopping.
