Chapter 4

As they entered the building, a woman wearing a pristine white coat welcomed them.

"Hello!" She said with welcome. "You must be the grandsons and granddaughters of Sir Laurent, I was informed of your arrival. Follow me and I'll take you to where Sir Laurent's at."

"That won't be needed, Lyla. We are here with the kids." The woman didn't notice Caleb's parents was with them only until they entered the hallway did she noticed them.

"Oh! Clint and Noraima, your father and sister are waiting for your arrival. They are in BR #7." The woman stood in attention as she noticed the couple.

"Hmm? What are they doing in one of the breeding room?" Clint inquired as he raised an eyebrow towards the woman in lab coat.

As they chatted, Caleb and his cousins shared anxious glances as they are getting jittery in their place.

"Look at you three, we are already here. Stop being so impatient. Its not like your pokemons would run away from you." Noraima saw an opportunity to poke fun of the children as she saw them like that.

Before the three could complain, Clint's voice sounded out. "Let's go, she said they are in BR #7 preparing the pokemons for the childrens."

Caleb did not know the way towards this 'BR #7' including Christian and Korinne, so this time they couldn't rush towards where it was, they have no choice but to follow Caleb's parents closely.

To somewhat ease the tension of bubbling excitement they were having, Caleb decided to start a conversation.

"What pokemons do you guys think grandpa would provide us?"

"I think it would be the three regional pokemons! Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie!!" Christian exclaimed his opinion, stars were glittering in his eyes.

Korinne also got the glitters when she heared that. However, she shook her head after thinking for a few moments. "I don't think that's possible though."

"Regional Pokemons are extremely rare, and not to mention their value as our region's top starters. Even Professor Sycamore could only hand out one of each regional pokemon each year. You should really start thinking realistically with that brain of yours, Christian." Caleb also disapproved of his cousin's opinion, his grandfather providing them with such wonderful pokemons?

It was too good to even think about.

"You two, shut up! It's not like it is not possible. I had heard from our mom and dad that this time the pokemon given to us are very good, much more uncommon than what it originally was." Christian blushed in embarrassment when his opinion was denied, however, he still tried to defend himself.

"Oh? Really?" Christian had Caleb's attention when he heard the keywords within his tone. He also sounded confident, while Christian loved bragging about himself. He normally wouldn't lie about this things.

Korinne also turned her head towards her brother when she heared that, her parents didn't tell her this though?

Christian felt good when he saw them like this, he crossed his tiny arms. "It's true! I heard it when I was playing with my friends, they were talking in the kitchen when I heard them saying 'The kids are so fortunate that father would provide them with such wonderful breed'."

He did his best to imitate his father's voice and expression before continuing. "Unfortunately, they didn't mentioned any names so I was left with no clues but that. Ever since that day I couldn't stop thinking, I couldn't even sleep a wink at night!"

Caleb and Korinne was surprised.

If what Christian said was really true then it is almost guaranteed that they would be getting a pokemon with a rarity better than uncommon. Then maybe a Rare one?

Caleb felt his blood rush wildly in his system, he couldn't help himself but think of all the pokemons that are in the rare category, every single one of them are awesome!

He's confident also to the fact their grandfather wouldn't give them a pokemon with bad potential so...

"We're here kids." Caleb's musing was interupted by his father. He looked up in front of him to see that they have arrived on a sliding door with a 'BR #7' sign on top.

They immediately entered the room. Two people were already inside the room an old man and a woman, Cesar Laurent and Christine Laurent. Cesar is an old man with a muscular build with shaped scars that are visible by the formal attire he was wearing.

"Oh? My grandchildrens are here." The old man, Cesar Laurent's green eyes lit up when he saw the new arrivals. His eyes were showing warmth and contentment as his gazes landed on Caleb and the others.

"Hello Grandfather." The three young bloods greeted the old man in formality.

"Hohohoho, you three sure are respectful to your elderly." Cesar rubbed both Caleb and Christian's hair roughly.

Christine Laurent was Clint Laurent's sister, Christine had a lighter shade of blue than the others, shoulder-length hair and generally wore round spectacles. She is seen wearing a full-sleeved lab coat, unlike the woman on the desk from earlier she had a pin on her chest, showing a wing crested symbol.

Inside the room were shelfs and shelfs of eggs, with labels that Caleb couldn't understand. He turned his attention to where his grandfather was standing. Beside them were three pokemon eggs. It took Caleb a second to piece somethings together.

"Grandpa, are we gonna get pokemon eggs as our starter Pokemons?" Caleb asked what was on his mind.

Cesar raised an eyebrow at Caleb, he was surprised at how quick-witted and observant Caleb seemed to be, it had only been a few minutes since they entered and he already noticed it.

Seeing their father's reaction, Clint and Noraima laughed naturally. Clint said. "Caleb is quite an observant child, father."

"Although we also had just noticed it to us on a few occasions."

"Hahahahaha, is that so? That's good. Keep it up, Caleb." His warm eyes gazed at Caleb for a minute before walking towards the platform where the three eggs sat.

He answered Caleb's question. "That's correct, my dear boy. Three pokemons, each having different species."

"Like what Caleb just said. I would be giving you guys pokemon eggs." Cesar smiled when he saw the unimpressed look on Christian and Korinne's faces. "What's with those look you two?"

Korinne looked away and nudged her brother with her elbow.

Christian scratched his head as he said. "Grandpa, we really don't know anything about pokemon eggs, also is a pokemon egg even considered as a starting pokemon? It still hasn't chatched yet."

Cesar was patient as he listened to his grandson's concerns. "Let me tell you something Christian. You are still young, others your age may have pokemon already in their possession, but are those pokemons fully loyal to their partners? The answer is no. It isn't that easy to gain recognition from a pokemon."

"One needed to bond and interact to be comfortable with each other before one could confidently say they are trusted. That is one of the problems young pokemon trainers nowadays sometimes forget. It took days, weeks or even months for a trainer to gain a pokemon's recognition after it is caught in a pokeball."

"Of course you could always force a pokemon into submission but I don't recommend it, and if I see you in the future doing it, I'll butcher you kids myself."

The three shivered in fright when they heared the old man's declaration. Cesar looked at them seriously before continuing. "However, having a pokemon egg before it hatched as a starter, you could skip those tedious part. Since as soon as a pokemon comes out of its shell, they would immediately recognize and treat the person they first see like it's own family."

Listening to Cesar's lecture made Caleb enlightened, 'So there was that reason why he decided to provide us a pokemon egg at the very beginning.' He thought.

Korinne's eyes also lit up from the pros Cesar had said. While, Christian even with his small brain, now see the pokemon eggs in front of them in a newer light.

"Of course, it is without it's cons. However, the pros outweights the cons in a long run as you begin your pokemon journey. But that is still very far from now."

"Anyways, I still have some important things to do, my children. I'll leave you three in your parents's care. Remember, it isn't the Pokemons that shapes the trainer, it is the trainer that shapes the team, be responsible, don't act cowardly." Cesar walked towards a hanger where he had hanged his lab coat. He put it on as he left after saying. "Christine, give the children their eggs and assist them. Also Clint, come to my office after you are done there."

"Okay Dad."

"Alright."
