Chapter 48

It didn't take me too long to find the smaller business side of the city and when several dozen shops were called Vale's tailor/pharmacy/shoe store name combined with how the city was completely encased in large as-hell city walls that wouldn't look out of place in Attack on Titan I realized very swiftly where I was.

I was in the universe of RWBY, and more specifically in the city of Vale before Rooster Teeth the creators of the RWBY universe tanked their series in the fall of Beacon.

Unless this was some odd alternate universe or just in the future after they fixed up Vale...

Either way I needed to find somewhere to stay as being homeless within the cities without any paperwork or even leaving the city and being a hobo wandering the Grimm-infested lands outside of the city sounded terrible...

"Now how can I discretely make a decent amount of money to the point where I can get an identity and a place to crash..." I groaned rubbing my face in frustration as I never had to deal with that in my previous life.

Thankfully I had some gold coins stashed away in my backpack that weren't destroyed as I knew the metal was either fairly or very valuable in most worlds and it was doing YoRHa little good, but I still needed to be able to trade it for the local currency.

When I was young my father basically forcibly taught me how to weld and would refer me to some free-lance-the-books welding work which was easily able to pay for my actual welding schooling allowing me to make the big bucks in doing things like deep-sea electrical welding.

The point was in neither of my lives had I needed to set up identity crap or even get my own house as I had always just gone job to job staying in the company-sponsored hotels or just staying back at my grandfather's house where the bunker was at when I had a couple of weeks off or wanted to visit family.

I was paralyzed with indecision as I couldn't literally just walk up to some skeevy dude and ask where I could get some forged documents for one, I had no local money for such a service, but I came to a mental breakthrough and relaxed as an idea come through.

'I can just say I am a survivor of a farm a decent way from the city and our farm was attacked by Grimm leaving me the only survivor.' I thought nodding as that would perfectly explain my patchy knowledge of the world and lack of funds or identification what with monsters destroying where I previously lived.

Remnant the planet of RWBY was honestly a terrible place to live in as despite how they liked to tone it down with over-the-top choreographed fights this was also a death world only slightly in better shape than Nier Automata...

Even as I considered the animal-shaped Grimm that was driving Humanity to extinction here on this planet, I stared at the shattered moon above me and snickered. "Well, Salem and Grimm... You guys have never faced an army of Androids that will wage total war for ten thousand years with superior technology and soldiers that will never give up."

Oh boy, the faces YoRHa and the Android Resistance Army will have to arrive in a new world filled with humans and the knowledge that they are being pushed to extinction by supernatural beings that can be fought and contained, unlike the Machine Army... It will be literally a wet dream for them to fulfill their greatest desire to directly defend a city filled with humans.

It would be a chance for them to redeem themselves from the Androids in the know about Humanity's extinction back in Nier Automata.

Eventually, as I was wandering around the more industrial district, I saw a trio of shady-looking dudes in suits wearing red glasses, and all three were armed with small hand axes obviously 'patrolling' the area.

I knew those guys were probably mooks for the info broker and local crime boss something, Junior, who Yang inflicted testicular twisting and destroyed his club when she asked him about her mother who lived literally on the other side of the planet and was a notorious bandit leader, so not only would he not know of her as she lived and worked so far away, but if he did know of her I know she wouldn't want info brokers giving info out on her in case Salem or survivors of her bandit activities wanted to go after her.

"Hello gentlemen may I ask for an escort back to your bosses club... I have just landed here in Vale from Mistral and have important business to discuss with him." I said pushing my mana outwards to weigh on the punks that were clearly thinking whether it was worth robbing me for being a lost foreigner.

"Yes sir!" The leading goon who was in the front of the trio gritted out as the three hunched over from my magical pressure.

The pressure was purely from the weight of my mana that had grown to the strength of being able to tangle with Goliath class machines, I didnt add killing or ill intent to my mana... These untrained mooks even if they did have Aura, the local semi-magical superpower had no chance against me and every cell in their body honed from being descended from humans being hunted by monsters since the races birth screamed that they needed to submit and not resist to me.

"Goody! Now please lead me there and I will give your boss a good word for your efforts." I said offering an olive branch and reigned back in a good portion of my mana.

The leading good nodded hurried and her barked to the two men who were shivering behind him clutching there small axes as a lifeline. "Call the boss and tell him I am escorting a VIP!"

Another goon nodded running off ahead to go get the car and supposedly make the call and I was left with Leader Goon 1 and Cowardly Goon 2 with the First Cowardly Goon 1 leaving for the car and such.

I couldn't help but snicker making the goons standing across from me twitch fearfully as I realized I had zero interests in getting to know these people and what their names were. So, naming them Goon 1 or even something like a fucking Oompa Loompa made no difference as I would likely never see them again.

Plus, if I don't know who they are, I won't feel any guilt screwing someone over should Junior not be a cool dude and help me get some identification and I am forced to trash his club and steal all the money his club has.

Finally, a sedan rolled around the corner, and it was a quick five-minute drive to arrive to Juniors Club... No seriously the place was called Junior's Club.

After pushing away any errant thoughts I clad myself in my mana in case of any... accidents as I noticed there was still some signs of damage around the club telling me that Yang has already visited this place and left her handywork allover which explained how there was only a few young people sitting at the bar or dancing on the dance floor which was obviously hurriedly fixed.

Seeing literally the only man working at the Bar not wearing the gangs tacky red glasses I assumed him to be Junior, so I relaxedly walked over while making eye contact with the man.

"Hmm so you are the VIP or whatever?" He asked as he leaned on the edge of the bar. "You aren't dressed like a Huntsman-in-training despite the little stunt you pulled with my men... So, what do you want kid?"

My face twitched being called a kid but I pushed it aside as I was reminded about the stupid antics all the teenagers got up to here in Remnant before they were chained to their school desks in Beacon and had the Vice Principal of the school Professor Good witch breathing down their throats and keeping them mostly obedient.

"I have some gold I want exchanged to Lien and some identification papers that can stand up to Beacon's scrutiny... Also, I will need my Aura unlocked as well." I threw in knowing that other than tiring out whoever activated my Aura, it didn't cost anyone anything.

"Hmm Gold is a controlled substance due to it being powerful conductor of Dust energies as you well know... I don't know if it's worth such a hot item being handed off to me despite its value unless..." He led off for a moment as I stared at him impassively with my thoughts running a mile a minute. "There needs to be a decent amount involved should I involve myself in this business..."

I only was reminded RWBY was a death world when I realized even relatively common material resources was rare and valuable here as all the cities and towns on Remnant had to be protected from the near constant barrage of Grimm that were attracted to humanities negativity emotions and with how humanity was so fond of abusing Faunus kind the other local race of humans with just some animal parts added on like cat ears or a monkey's tail.

Running a mine to gather resources was obviously going to be challenge as working in a mine was never an enjoyable thing with the constant thoughts of the roof coming down and the fact that the mines here in Remnant were ran basically off slave labor which attracted more Grimm.

I imagine they are a lot more particular about recycling in this world...

"I have enough for the services I require, some Lien a simple service and for you to take a nice cut..." I was being very plain in how I was telling him that I didnt have a large supply and dont be an ass lest he lose the business.

"Hey boss how about we just preform a citizen's arrest and just 'turn in all' the gold." A mook said behind me and I could feel the gaze of several of the club's enforcers lock onto me as they strutted over to me with their axes in hand.

Junior hummed in thought as he brushed his hand through his small beard, and I stared at him with a cold smile not giving a damn about the goons who surrounded me. "Junior, I come to you with a fair deal and if you cannot accept that and attempt to rob me... There won't be a club to rebuild as I will take it down to the foundation and then take this gold to Torchwick..." I shrugged as I finished threatening him with a bland. "That makeup wearing fop will probably jump at the chance to line his stupid cane with gold."

I unleashed my full mana's weight, making club began to audibly shake and groan along with the air vibrating as my blue eyes glowed a icy blue. "Junior... Take the deal or I will get my money and services elsewhere..."

"You just said you don't even have Aura you liar!" One of the goons spat behind me and as I spun to look at him, I saw him about to bring his axe down onto my shoulder.

Knowing I didnt have Aura and that despite my mana offering me decent protection I had zero interests in being chopped up by some gangbangers axe so with a cry from that man my Guardian manifested in front of me with its arms already coming down in a powerful hammer blow which smashed into the goon's shoulders so hard he cracked the ground he was standing on as the goons aura visibly shattered with a weird green glowing shield around the man dissipated with the single blow.

"So?" I asked Junior who snarled and slammed his fist into the bar before visibly taking a deep breath and nodding to me.

"Fine... You will get the money, the papers and the Aura unlocking will be free as an apology for my men being rude... Melanie, Miltiades escort this gentleman to another room and unlock his aura if you can." He ordered and a couple of rather exotic twins strutted out of a back room visibly armed with the red dressing wearing twin having long arm claws and the twin wearing a white dress had blades attached to her dancing heels.

The twin wearing the white dress nodded to junior and then held out her arm up to me as she spoke. "Please follow me and my sister upstairs." I nodded and respectfully linked arms with the woman as her sister walked on my other side but didnt take my arm with how she was wearing large blades on her arms. We three then made our way up the somewhat obscured staircase that was behind a set of drapes that matched the clubs' walls and the twins asked me to sit down in a nice booth while they went to get refreshments.
