The New Employee And A Plan For The Future

Hey, Shun here!

In stories with a fantasy setting, there would always be characters with such tragic back stories. Personally, I like to call these types of girls 'menharas'.

Depending on how you treat these kind of girls, they could almost be anything. From the dangerous girls such as yanderes to the most affectionate ones like those derederes. The possibilities are endless!

(Shun's POV)

If we were caught by surprise by how our very first day in this dimension started and by how it ended, just because of how crazy of an introduction to another dimension it is — save for probably that one time I immediately met a God the instant I transported to another world — this second day, we, especially the girls, were very disappointed at how things turned out regarding the baths. After asking some questions to Ms. Mosa, it turned out that only the richest noble families are able to afford making baths in the first place.

It seems like nobles ask their maids and manservants to prepare it. It is very expensive to do so, that's why Ms. Mosa said that only the rich nobles could afford baths.

The only bathing option that we have is the separate open area next to the [Gate Inn] with the only shield for our bodies being a thin cloth. It being there or not wouldn't really make much of a difference.

This is why the girls decided not to take a bath there. After all, for someone who lives in a more civilized world, taking a bath at a place where both men and women could take a bath with a thin sheet of cloth being the only barrier is very uncomfortable.

"Aah, ahh… There's no bath. Good thing we have Shun-kun's [Cleaning] spell…" Touka-san said, with disappointment written all over her face.

Majority of the girls are very fond of baths so I guess it couldn't be helped. The only ones who aren't very upset about this was probably only me, Ritsu, and Rinka-san.

Ritsu is sort of a no nonsense girl so I guessed as much but, I thought Rinka-san would be somewhat like Kaede-san who's just a little upset about not having a bath but still have some gripes with it.

"Un. If we didn't have that spell, we would be feeling uncomfortable for the rest of this quest. I really don't want to take a bath at that 'bathroom' outside. It's embarrassing and it's dangerous…"

It seems like Yukiko-san more or less agree with Touka-san.

Currently, we're at the room that Yukiko-san and Ritsu will be sharing. Rinka-san and Touka-san will be sharing the same room while I have my own room, which I will be sharing with Tsuka.

Pochi and Tama seems to have the desire to sleep with us but is hesitating. I'll talk to them later about this.

Currently, they are sleeping on top of our laps. Pochi is enjoying the pets of the girls while Tama has quietly occupied my lap.

Whenever I pet her on the head, she would purr like a cat, which was really cute.

"So, when do you guys intend to leave this kingdom?" I asked while looking at Liza, the one who has been Pochi and Tama's caretaker for a while now.

"We want to leave in two week's time but…" Liza stopped talking while looking at the two who are enjoying a very nice nap.

"But?"

After a slight pause, and after Kaede-san's urging, Liza continued to talk.

"…They are worried about their friends." Sounds like something they would worry about, yep.

"You mean Yuni-chan and Martha-chan? Huh… They're just too kind, aren't they?" Kaede-san said, once again petting Pochi.

"Did they really go through the same assassination training as us?" Rinka-san muttered while looking at the two.

"Koro-sensei was careful not to teach them anything inappropriate or bad. I heard him talk about it once…" Yukiko-san commented. in.

"Ah, we were together at that time, right? He said something about not wanting to make the same mistake that he did to his first student, didn't he?" Touka-san chimed in.

"Yes, it was at that time."

And so, we ended up chatting and talking about what we should do about Pochi and Tama's conundrum. The conversation was back and forth, mostly focusing on what we could do so that their worries about their friends would lessen.

The reason why they were hesitating to leave was because of their friends, especially Yuni, who have quite the high chance of starving. Honestly, we're more worried about her safety since she works at a pretty sketchy place, which couldn't really be avoided.

Honestly, there are a few things that we could do here. The first one would be to take her with us. Unfortunately, given how our group have the tendency to be dragged into dangerous matters, I don't think an orphaned girl could handle that.

It was then that I suddenly remembered something. The landlady and Martha-chan, they seem to be fond of Yuni.

Based on Pochi and Tama's stories, the little girl has been helping out a lot in this inn so, I think there might be a chance that they have their own thoughts about her and her situation. Once my thought arrived at this point, I immediately interrupted the girls who are currently brainstorming.

"I think we should all leave it at that for now. It's late already so we should all go to sleep now. As for Yuni, I don't think we have to worry about her anymore…"

"What do you mean by that, Shun-kun?" Yukiko-san asked curiously, her golden brown eyes looking at me with a puzzled look on her face.

"What I mean is, I think Ms. Mosa and Martha-chan already have plans about this. Given a few days time, I think they will approach her about it."

"The inn owner, huh…" Rinka-san muttered.

"Ah, now that you mentioned it, Ms. Mosa seems to like Yuni-chan, doesn't she?"

"Yep. I saw her looking over Yuni-chan while she was helping us cook."

Kaede-san and Touka-san also voiced out their observations during the short time that we've seen them.

"Well, since you all know that now, why don't we go to sleep now? Here, I'll carry Pochi and Tama back to my room."

"I'll help you, Sir Shun…" Liza said in a rather stiff and formal tone.

"No need to be so formal, Liza-san. Shun is just fine."

"Ha!" Why are you acting like that knight at the gate entrance?

Liza's knight-ish attitude aside, I said goodnight to the girls and went back to the room we rented out. Once we reached the room, Liza quietly placed Pochi on top of the bed before saluting at me and leaving in a hurry.

'She's going to sleep at the stables, huh.' I thought to myself.

While I wouldn't really mind her sleeping here, there's really no other room for another bed. I already replaced the bed here with the bed that I bought a long time ago at a mall, same with the beds that the girls have in their own rooms.

Why am I bringing beds with me, you ask? I'm prepared for when I need it, given how fantasy worlds are always likened to the medieval age. Why else do you think I would bring beds with me?

I have a futon here but, I feel making her sleep on that narrow floor. This room can only have so much space, after all.

At least, in that room that they have in the stables, they have beds there.

"Well, now, I should sleep as well. Good night, Tsuka. Don't sleep on top of my head tonight, okay?"

"Squeak~? Okaaay~?" What's with the question mark?

We spent the next two days at Pochi and Tama's dimension catching up and touring around the Seiryuu City's marketplace. To be honest with you, I was surprised by how much influence Japan has in this place city in particular.

They have soy sauce here, miso, and some other delicacies that are only present in modern day Japan like Mutsuko, Rikka, as well as the four girls, Yukiko-san, Touka-san, Ritsu, and Rinka-san's dimension. The similarities end there, though.

In this place, it seems like those with oriental looks are seen as ugly, or not pleasing to the eye. It honestly makes sense since everyone here looks like they're of western descent.

On one hand, this saves us from the trouble of dealing with hooligans though. This is my first time going into a fantasy world with so many [Group Chat] members so I don't want it to be filled with such unpleasant memories like constantly taking care of hooligans.

On the other hand, it's kinda annoying since some people are looking at the girls with some sort of disgust or prejudice, which I'm quite annoyed of. Thankfully, this doesn't seem to affect the girls at all.

We just got back to the [Gate Inn] after eating some karaage(?) outside. The karaage was good, but it felt like it wasn't really karaage at the same time, which was really strange and hard to explain.

The moment we stepped foot inside the inn, we were greeted by a small girl who's around the same height as Pochi and Tama.

"Welcome to the [Gate Inn], desu! How can I help you today, desu!" The girl was trying too hard to use polite speech that she even attached desu at the end of each of her sentences, much like how Pochi adds 'nanodesu' to the end of her sentences.

The first ones to recognize who the girl is was Pochi and Tama, who immediately knew who the girl was just based on the 'feeling'.

"Yuniii~!? Ama-ziing~!"

"It's Yuni nanodesu! You're a waitress-san now nanodesu!? How ama-ziing nodesu!"

That's right, Yuni became an employee of the [Gate Inn] while we were away. She's even wearing that typical medieval waitress dress paired with a headgear and an apron. Did Ms. Mosa ask a tailor to make this?

"How's it? Surprised? Good thing Martha's old dress fit her." Oh, it's Martha-chan's old uniform? That makes sense.

"Ms. Mosa! Un, we're really surprised. Is she gonna work here from now on?" Kaede-san asked while looking at Yuni who's busy talking to the high tensioned Pochi and Tama.

"Ah, I figured that we need an extra pair of hands in the inn since I'm getting a little older now… Also, Yuni is such a sweet child and I don't want her to go around starving while knowing that I could do something about it…" Man, Ms. Mosa sounds like some kind of hero at the moment.

"Speaking of your inn, Ms. Mosa, I have a proposition to make. Do you mind if I take a little bit of your time?" It's only been a few days since we met but, we can't really postpone our trip any longer. I have to take care of this now, or I wouldn't have time for this later on.

"Hmm… Let's talk about that inside. Come on, Yuni, go help Martha in cleaning the rooms upstairs."

"Y-Yes!"
