"Let's go," Raiden shouted, "It is our chance for escape."
Raiden had thrown one of those Flesh-Eating Monsters towards the wall of the corridor by hitting him with his wooden sword.
The situation on the 2nd floor was intense. Makie was terrified after facing that monster. Chido stood below all of them, he was terrified too but started running down after Raiden's remark. Takeshi immediately took a hold of Makie's hand and made her run along with him.
Raiden took a step backward, towards the stairs, and hurried to leave the 2nd floor. But, as he was about to leave he took a glimpse of the situation behind him. And, found the fallen man behind him struggling to stand up.
'No way! I struck his head with all the power I had and even with a wooden sword. That blow could have been enough to send a normal human to hospital for several days! But, this guy. It doesn't even look like he felt the pain of my attack. What in the hell are these guys?'
Obvious questions erupted in Raiden's head but it was no time to daze off in thoughts. He knew that better than anyone as he hurried to go downstairs.
They ran downstairs and after taking the turn they reached the first floor.
Chido was the first one to step onto the first floor, followed by Takeshi, Makie, and then, Raiden. The first floor was the same as the second and third floors. Corpses and blood were everywhere, but there was something else on that floor that made Chido's body freeze up. The whole first floor was filled with those monsters.
The sound of the banging on the roof couldn't reach below the second floor, that's why it was filled with those monsters.
Not only they were just there but all of them were coming towards the staircase. Raiden's remark and their loud footsteps had warned those monsters about their presence.
Raiden, Takeshi, and Makie had already started to go downstairs but Chido still stood in the corridor, frozen in fear.
As Raiden was hurrying downstairs he noticed Chido not following them, "What are you doing, Chido? Hurry up! Or you will die," he called out.
Chido noticed them already going downstairs, he immediately rushed towards them, "Wait! Wait for me!" he said in the process. Just as he reached the railing by the staircase, the man upstairs had fallen through the gap on top of the railing. "EEEEEEEEEEEE!" he screamed and dashed away from that fallen man out of sudden shock value. But, his foot missed the stair and he lost balance over his body. He rolled down through the stairs and hit the wall.
Raiden and others had just reached that point and noticed Chido as he hit the wall.
"Chido you okay?" Raiden asked as he helped Chido get on his feet.
"Yeah, I am fine," Chido said as he stumbled over his feet but he definitely was not fine as blood started rushing down from his head.
"Oh no! Chido, there is blood coming out of your head," Makie claimed and grasped as she saw Chido was hurt.
"Blood? Oh god!" Chido's legs couldn't hold him straight now, without Raiden's support he could have fallen, easily.
"Chido, I know you are hurt but we gotta move now," Raiden said as he saw the horde of zombies coming down from the stairs.
They rushed downstairs, towards the ground floor. Raiden carried Chido on one of his shoulders. Takeshi had held Makie's arm and they both rushed down together.
The monsters on the bottom had reached the staircase. Raiden and others were now stuck between two massive hordes of zombies.
But they didn't stop moving, as if they intended to pierce through the horde of monsters who awaited them downstairs.
Makie didn't want to go further toward the big horde but the option to go back seemed impossible too. They were on that staircase, trapped.
But Raiden didn't give up, "Takeshi! I will need your hand for this one!" he shouted out.
"You got it!" Takeshi called back.
"Maki, hold down to Chido," Raiden instructed, as he passed Chido over to Makie's shoulders.
"Huh?" Makie couldn't comprehend the sudden change in events, Takeshi had left her hand and Chido was clinging to her shoulders. While Raiden and Takeshi had taken the lead.
They both rushed inside the horde, Raiden swinging his wooden sword and Takeshi with his kick. The higher grounds gave them the benefit and momentum of their body making it so that they could put even more power into their attack.
They both landed the attack with their sword and kick. And, pushed away a large section of the horde. It wasn't much but easy for them to fit in and escape.
"Here!" Raiden shouted as he swung his sword for a second time.
Makie didn't think much but went straight to the little opening they had made. She, along with Chido made it past the staircase! Takeshi took over Chido on his shoulder as soon as Makie came by them. They all had reached the ground floor, safely.
But they were not out of danger as the bottom floor was the floor where most of the monsters were gathered.
Raiden had been hitting them on the head with his sword but they were not going down.
"Raiden, they both have arrived. Now, let's make a run for it!" Takeshi called out.
Raiden looked toward the group and said, "Alright!"
They made a run to the opposite side of where the horde was gathered by the staircase. But, even now, there stood many between their path.
"I will hit and push them to one side. You guys just slide through the small opening at that instant," Raiden instructed.
That seemed like the only way they could pass through those monsters.
Makie was so terrified that she couldn't even pay any attention to what Raiden had said. She just ran aimlessly, clinging to Takeshi's back.
Chido was on the verge of losing consciousness, he somehow dragged his body until now.
Raiden had taken the lead. He had that wooden sword in his hand which was now covered in blood. He swung it again toward the monster coming towards them.
He was determined to not die there and neither let any of his friends die.
