Chapter 119: I am calmly angry

With Big Mom's death, I took over everything she had, from the territory, resources, and riches. I had essentially become a Yonko wearing a Marine coat. Also taking Fishman Island under my protection served as a deterrent to many things, not because the fishman had a big fighting force, since they wouldn't fight for me or any other human. But they had one other advantage that made them very useful and it was since they could breathe underwater and were born stronger than humans, that would allow them to mine all of the resources at the bottom of the sea that no human had ever touched. 

This world was mostly sea and it had an abundance of resources, now the only difficult part was finding some gold and silver mines down there and I would be set. I might not be able to overpower the World Governments' authority that it had over the world, but I might be able to out-bribe the World Government. The ones ruling it were born in wealth and didn't know how it was to be poor.

I bet they never had a situation where their Heavenly Tribute didn't come. After all, Doflamingo only took the tribute and threatened them to make him a Warlord of the Sea. So that was quite important, the Celestial Dragons might think that their divine rule made people listen to them… but no, it was simply because of soldiers, and soldiers cost money to keep. Something that they spent so leisurely was the reason most of their power stood strong. 

A stable government could only exist because of taxes. Normal people hate paying them, but that was the truth. Though to the powerful people or the World Government, those taxes/heavenly tributes would never stop coming. What would they do if one day all of that stopped? 

I leaned back on my chair and thought about that. My ship was now going towards a route not many knew, but it was one the World Government used quite a lot.

A couple of months passed since I had killed Big Mom and we were having a celebratory party for someone's birthday. I liked holding these parties every now and then since it would boost the men's morale. This was why the World Government felt that I was dangerous, the subordinates I had under my command all loved me. 

I even made sure their families were taken care of, so why would they ever even try to work for anyone but me? If they went back to being a normal Marine, they would cry because they didn't offer even 1/5th of what I did. Plus sailing along like this was an adventure every time, so I used that pirate-like sense of adventure everyone had and made it work. 

"Boss-man~ Boss-man~ Boss-man~" Negan was dancing like a drunk fool and singing a song that he had made for me. It just included him repeating the same word over and over again.

"BOSS-Man!! BOSS-Man!!" others joined his song, yelling out loud and banging their beer mugs on the tables. 

I noticed that Raynare, who was wearing comfortable baggy clothing, wasn't eating or drinking anything. I patted her shoulder. "Even if you don't want to drink you should eat something."

She unconsciously touched her belly. "No, I am full. Also, I think that toning down the drinking would be good for me."

Heh, I knew why she wasn't drinking. Did she think she could keep it hidden forever? Though I won't mention anything about it, I knew what she was hiding.

"Can I have this?" Asked Reiju, suddenly coming from behind me and picking up my still almost full beer mug. Raynare looked at her with an intense gaze, like a cat ready to scratch its life rival.

But Reiju didn't mind it and took a swing of my beer even before I said that it was okay to take my drink. Immediately as she did so, her eyes widened.

*burst*

Blood came out of her nose and she fell on her knees muttering. "Poison…"

My blood froze, someone had tried to poison me…

I ground my teeth in anger but calmed myself immediately after. I needed to calmly assess the situation and try to find the one who did it. 

Before I could mind-storm and try to figure it out, Reiju wiped the blood on her nose and stood up calmly. "What a strong poison, even with my ability to resist any kind of poison it still harmed me. Maybe it has acid in it?" 

I narrowed my eyes on her. She never had taken my drink before, she doesn't even drink alcohol at all. "You knew?"

She nodded and smiled. "I had my suspicions," getting closer to me she whispered in my ear. "It seems like that fake drinking finally paid off. Also, the traitor is Binz. He was the one who gave Negan the drink, which then gave to the waiter."

"Thanks for keeping an eye on me," I smiled at Raiju and she just nodded gently and looked at Raynare.

"I will always look out for you. But I need to go and rest. This poison was very harmful even for me." 

Only now I noticed that her hands were shaking and sweat had gathered around her body, making it glistering. Honestly, she looked even sexier now. But today we couldn't do anything as I knew she was truly tired and had harem herself for me. 

Raynare looked at her rival thankfully as she walked away and muttered quietly. "Thanks…"

Binz? That was the guy who used to be in the Neo Marines. Now that I thought about it calmly, poison and trying to poison me secretly was an impossible task since the beginning. I never let my guard down, especially during events like these and when I 'drink'. But that didn't mean I wouldn't make Binz pay. 

As I looked towards him and noticed that he was staring at me all along. Immediately his eyes widened. He got up and used [Soru] going outside of the party room within an instant. 

Binz threw seeds on the ground and immediately grew into mature plans and blocked the hallways everywhere he went with plants.

Normally Raynare would always take a sip of my drinks when the party was over, and normally I wouldn't be too worried about what could have happened. Even though she tried to hide it… I knew she was pregnant with my child. If she had drunk that drink today, she would have died and so would my child. 

Now that… truly enraged me!!

Binz tried to run as fast as he could, going through multiple hallways in the ship, blocking them all off with plants and he finally reached the deck of the ship. He was about to kick off the air and fly into the sky when a voice interrupted him. "You know, if you tell me everything, I will keep the torture on you very light."

Binz turned towards it and saw Max just standing there with his hands in his pockets. Usually, Max would always be smiling, even when fighting a Yonko, it was so he could unnerve the enemy. But right now he had a cold look on his face and emotionless eyes bore down on Binz and made his skin crawl. 

A sense of absolute despair overwhelmed the man. 

"I -I… I am sorry!" Binz tried to apologize. "I will tell you ev-"

Fwish!

In a split second, Max was before him and had his hand over the man's mouth. "No, no, don't say anything. Right now I am very angry, you will spill the beans later anyway. So let me get rid of this anger first. I don't want to start doing illogical things. It feels like if I don't release the anger, my heart will burst out of my chest." 

BOOOOM!!!

After saying that, Max's Conqueror's Haki burst out. It was like the will of Poseidon had descended upon the sea, the calm water churned and burst out bubbles all around the ship. The waves got so high that it seemed like they were tsunamis. 

The air crackled and the clouds started turning dark, the environment itself was changing as nature itself seemed to bend to Max's rage.

"I am going to do unimaginable things that will make you curse your mother for ever giving birth," Max said, but by now Binz had passed out in fear.

Raynare suddenly came out too, having cut all of the vines blocking her way by using her giant wings. She could tell Max was angry, even though he appeared calm on the outside, it didn't take her long to conclude why. In the end, she smiled and hugged him from behind. "Don't worry, I would never drink when I am pregnant, you fool. I wouldn't have gotten poisoned!"

She could tell Max wasn't his normal self and had realized what had just happened. Even if someone tried to assassinate him, he was confident in himself for having all of his bases covered. But when it came to Raynare and his unborn child, it was a whole other deal.

Max's body suddenly relaxed again and he dropped Binz on the ground, his smile was back on his face. It felt like he never had been angry, to begin with as the sea calmed down and the dark clouds started dissipating.

"I don't think you have ever insulted me before," out of the many things he could have said, he chose to jokingly banter. "Also when were you planning to tell me about the kid?"

*sigh* "Why am I not surprised that you already know this?" Raynare muttered, making her feel a little silly for worrying how Max would react to the news. She had thought that he might not like her or even banish her and the kid out of his sight.

"Of course I would know, this was essentially bound to happen." Max wasn't too worried about it, as he had now calmed down and could think logically again. "I had been waiting for this child for quite a while." 

"What?" this confused Raynare.

Max only smiled at her. "Well, we are going back to Drum Island. It's time I showed the world something they have never seen before.."
