Father and Daughter

Alexis felt a chill shiver run down her spine. Her heart started to hammer inside her chest as though it was willing to escape. And tears began to roll down her cheeks uninvited. All these years, she had longed to meet her father but now that he was right in front of her eyes, she didn't know how to react.

Alexis felt a lump in her throat but she managed to whisper, "You are my father?" Even though Eldred already said that he was her father, she felt as though it was just a dream. 

Eldred was in no different state than Alexis. He was smiling but at the same time, the rim of his emerald eyes was glistening with tears. "Yes, I am your father." He got up from his seat while apologizing to Alexis, "I am sorry that I never tried to contact you. I was…"

"Dad!" Before he could complete his sentence, Alexis sprung up from her seat and then clung onto Eldred.
