Sing Like An Angel

"AAAAHHHH!"

These were the earth-shaking high pitched screams of a frustrated girl. This type of scream could be mistaken for a victim being bludgeoned to death which is why it attracted Tail Raiser's attention becoming Ming Wei's amnesty.

But to be frank, he didn't deserve this lifeline because blondie over here was seriously considering disclosing the identity of the person they were looking for in exchange for his life. Whether this plan would have managed to save his life or not, we will never know.

Ming Wei's knees softened and he collapsed to the ground. A tear streamed down his face as he silently laughed out of relief. Wiping his face with mud-stained hands he slowly crawled away but gradually broke into a run desperate to get away from what could have been his murder scene. This was in case Tail Raiser remembered he left one alive and comes back to finish him off.

While Ming Wei was celebrating his new lease on life, Tail Raiser was blankly watching the girl who was screaming like an animal at the abattoir. He had to create a sound barrier for himself because the deafening shrieks were screwing with his tentacles and irritating him to death.

"AAAAHHHHHH!" screamed Cream Shot as she shot magnificent white beams from the swing of her spear smashing the ground wreaking havoc on what was once a beautiful forest.

She screamed till she exhausted all her energy. Huffing and puffing she sat cross-legged in the air after throwing her spear down causing the spearhead to pierce the ground at such a powerful force that the shaft of the spear vibrated for a very long time.

Somehow the spear accurately pierced right through to Jin Lin's exact location making him jolt in fright. The cone-shaped chocolate brown spearhead was right by his ear showing how close to death he was. Jin Lin gulped as he slowly shifted the both of them a bit further.

He could hear the conversation happening between the two of them and Cream Shot seemed pretty pissed. "Look at what those brats made me do! Why couldn't they just die like regular noobs? They got my vocal cords all messed up from all that screaming so how am I going to sing at the annual guild games now?" she complained making Jin Lin have a WTF expression.

This so-called annual guild game was actually a miniature guild war with prizes like a no man's land rich in resources up for grabs. That's a story for another day but what she was referring to was the opening act where representatives of each guild got to sing winning things like armour, weapons and coupons. It sounded silly but prizes like these in Equino were worth killing for.

"Are you even listening? TRex! Tail Raiser! Urgh... fuck this shit," she said when she realised he wasn't listening. She summoned her spear and flung it at Tail Raiser breaking the sound barrier. The barrier shattered like glass as the spear abruptly stopped a centimetre away from Tail Raiser's nose.

That's because one of Tail Raiser's tentacles stopped the spear as the others shrieked like a choir with all its members afflicted by flu, hoarse and irritating.

"I said that how am I going to perform at the annual guild games after all that screaming?" she repeated her words not at all remorseful for chucking her spear at Tail Raiser.

"You were never going to qualify anyway..... well, unless if the judges are deaf," said Tail Raiser not even bothered to save her some face.

Cream Shot, "...."

"Your voice sounds like that of an aunt who spends all day at the market shouting for people to buy her vegetables so...," said Tail Raiser revenging for his tentacles that were shaking as though laughing at what he said.

"Ha ha ha.....," she let out a blunt laugh before her spear broke free and swung midair shooting out a razor-sharp light that could easily slice a mountain in half. Okay, that's a bit exaggerated. Maybe not a mountain but a hill in half.

Tail Raiser's tentacles responded quickly. They wove together to form a shield with intricate patterns. The shield withstood the force hence it changed the trajectory of the powerful beam which shot off and literally sliced off a chunk of a nearby hill.

Cream Shot raised her hand and the spear appeared in her grasp as she stood up surrounded by a dark aura. With her frightening intense gaze fixed on Tail Raiser, she said, "Do you dare say that again?"

Of course, Tail Raiser wouldn't dare say it again. Not because this girl scared the shit out of him or anything like that. It was because he didn't have time to engage in an infinite war with her. They had a job to accomplish and a job worth a truckload of money on top of that.

Cream Shot's jet black hair swayed with the breeze as she eyed Tail Raiser like a predator ready to draw blood to satisfy its cravings. A smirk crept up her face revealing those sharp canines that could send chills down one's spine.

"I was wrong. You sing like an angel," he said trying to smooth things over, 'that's getting strangled by a barbed wire.' The latter part of the sentence was definitely not spoken aloud otherwise it would escalate the fight and delay time.

Her expression took a drastic change from 'I am going to fuckin kill you' to 'aww, that's a nice thing to say' in an instant. She giggled with both her hands on her cheeks while posing with one leg up. Her lustrous hair swayed with her movements enjoying the praise.

Tail Raiser only had one word to describe her and that word is 'bonkers' but he would never say it out loud. Pssht..... and he says he is not afraid of her.

He looked down at the mess she caused and shook his head in disappointment. "Even if what you heard were people how on earth are we supposed to find them like this? Shouldn't you be seeing corpses right now?" he said criticizing her impulsive behaviour.

She retorted back but Jin Lin didn't hear anything after that because he started dragging Fen Hao deeper into the hole. Their shuffling underground was masked with the sound of falling trees and branches plus those two's argument.

When Cream Shot withdrew her spear she left a hole on the roof of the rabbit hole drastically increasing the likelihood of them getting caught so he was left with no choice but to go deeper into the rabbit hole.

Hope he doesn't encounter something far worse than a spear-wielding girl down there.
