Mo Chou Lian

3055, December , Year of Rat, 20th year since the Great War between the 7 power nations begun. Yes, there were no longer 200+ countries out there. As time went by the world's scarce resources became even more scarce which led to more and more countries fighting with each other over these few resources. Even though humanity rapidly advanced in technology yet, they were not successful in sustaining life in any other planets, which made life on Earth more vulnerable. Thus, over decades the countries which could survive came together to share resources. The developed ones luring the small, on the verge of extinct nations, under its command. This lead to the formation of the 7 Great Power Nation. Among which the Republic of China was the 3rd most powerful nation with ruling almost all Asian countries that once upon a time used to exist.

Over time people developed technologically empowered fighting robots called mecha-bots, then mecha-shield, mecha-sword, mecha-sabers, which strongly enhanced the fighting power of these nations and resulted in more havoc and destruction worldwide. Many regions were not accessible anymore. The air was not breathable at all with so much impurities dissolved with for hundreds of decades now. Everyone was mandatory to wear this suit which provided them with sufficient artificial air to breathe. A few decades ago natural disasters intensified which destroyed many regions of these power nations even with the mecha- power fields protecting these places. These caused The United Nations of America to launch full fledged war against the Republic of China to rob them of their resources teaming up with the European allies. China having a foresight stored many resources even before the other power nations ever realized over the centuries the world would fall into such a predicament. As these three nations got involved in war the other four joined in as well to try their luck of being able to win resources for them, if possible.

Now these nations have maintained these 7 great generals who have always led their soldiers in wars. For the Republic of China it was the Mo family. The Mo family have always produced the best generals for China since centuries back. No one could point a finger over the strength and military intelligence of the Mo family, and by the God's grace the Mo family has always had a son who would always outshine their predecessors. However, two decades ago, the chain of only having sons in Mo family broke with the birth of the daughter of Mo Chang Ling and Du Shi Mian, called 'Mo Chou Lian'.

But look at the luck of this little girl. Just after a month of her birth the Great War broke which forced her father as a general to return to the battle field along with her mother who was a frontline chief doctor. China at first took the threat from the other two nations lightly, and Mo Chang Ling fell into an ambush plotted by the enemy nations which caused his sudden death, along with his wife who was there present with him. So within the six month of her birth Mo Chou Lian became an orphan.

Her grandfather, Mo Shang Ming, who had yet to retire stepped in, at once he stabled the nation along with the other great soldiers. On the other hand, he took responsibility of Mo Chou Lian. He believed that Mo Chou Lian being a girl did not make her inferior in any way. She as a 'Mo' had to bear the responsibility of being the Great general of the Republic of China. Though being a girl means she had to put much more effort to prove herself to the nation of her worthiness. In order to prove to the nation that she had it in herself to protect the whole nation from being extinct in such perilous times.

Even before she started crawling her grandfather had devised her future plans to ensure that the 'Mo' clan won't be looked down upon neither would her granddaughter. From military strategies, to medicine, to technological staff, every subject required for survival, even the ancient martial arts were taught to Mo Chou Lian ever since she took her first steps. From the young age it was instilled in her that the safety of the nation relied on her. If ever she cried or complained her grandfather would calmly say, "If you want to cry like a fool why don't you leave the 'Mo' family and go to the wild. Neither of us would have to work hard then. Go on. Get out of my sight."

Slowly over the years she stopped complaining, stopped fussing, accepted her faith, and became closed off. No longer being an unreasonable girl, which she never was. She created boundaries around her to not allow anyone to get close to her. Her routines were made of going to the drilling grounds of her grandfather in the barracks, learning from the esteemed teachers, learning to fight with mechas, practicing martial arts with her grandfather. When she reached the age of 10 she was sent to the war zone 13 to prove the worth of her training. Though that was not a serious war zone nevertheless it was still a war zone. With 10000 soldiers under her it was her own responsibility to make the soldiers listen to her commands, and to bring victory for the nation. There she received a fatal blow while trying to fight against the mega- bot of the enemy soldiers who had double the amount of soldiers, yet with sheer will power and innate leadership she won the battle, almost losing her life in the process. After waking up from her coma she saw the first honest smile that her grandfather ever gave her.

From then on she became a battle maniac going to battles right and left, all year round, though they were not the most serious ones, yet she never failed her grandfather. For her now making her grandfather proud and smile at her was the most important thing in life. She was seeking the last bit of familial love from her grandfather desperately.

But what she did not expect was at the battle of Middle Ground her grandfather would drop dead as he fought till his last breath against 6 other nations. Not even having time to mourn for her grandfather the twenty year old asked to be sent to the battlefield as the leading general. What she did not expect was to be turned down by the higher ups. As the heir of the 'Mo' family she did not even need to ask, but out of respect she did to be brutally let down. Within days the the 'Mo' family's military power was broken down and divided. Those who coveted such power each had a share of it forcing Mo Chou Lian to the side. With her grandfather gone, her biggest support, she was left with only a few mecha- bots and a mere soldier of 100000 soldiers, and a few trusted great soldiers as her subordinates. With that she was commanded to lead the battle at War Zone 1st, the most dangerous war zone. Not because the enemy had the most power there, but because the natural habitat at the place was dangerous, littering with the evolved man eating animals and poisonous air.

As it came from the higher ups she had to comply, and went there with a heavy heart. Her soldiers there did not receive much rations not there were much safe place for her soldiers to have rest. It felt like they were at their dead end. But still Mo Chou Lian always tried to maintain her soldiers moral through encouraging words, and emptied her own private funds to fund her soldiers. Among these the enemy soldiers broke in. Both parties faced a lot of casualties as they tore each other down. The place littered with dead bodies and crimson red everywhere. Mo Chou Lian's heart pained to see her brothers fell on by one but she was so helpless. After continuous battle of 5 days Mo Chou Lian and her soldiers with such little resources and with their air level depleting rapidly could not withstand the heavy forces, and amidst her brothers fell down with them.

Lying among the dead corpses with her legs missing as she got blown away from her mecha-bot when it blasted after direct contact with the mega mecha-bot of the enemy general, Mo Chou Lian sighed as she looked blearily at the black sky. She was so tired that lying there taking her last breaths gave her some kind of peace. No longer chained to the 'Mo' family, no longer need to be worried about keeping her family heritage protected. The only worry how is she going to face her ancestors once she goes up. No matter how much she tried she could live up to the expectations of her grandfather. Everything ended under her. But she was a mere human, right? Not an immortal. With her own nation against her how could she defend her nation. She was doomed from the beginning.

Relief flooded her as she plunged into the world of darkness and her breath stopped. By the end her body did not even receive a proper burial and got eaten by the creatures that larked near the battle ground. This kind of ending was totally brutal, wasn't it?

Even before Mo Chou Lian opened her eyes she could hear a woman barking near her, she felt her head was going to break open. It was so painful that every part of her body felt numb. Her body felt so heavy. She tried to open her eyes but she had no strength left to do so. Through the struggle of opening her eyes she again fell unconscious.
