When the battle between the Dark Lord and the mortal realm peaked, Andohr unleashed the curse upon the Dark Lord. Only, the curse didn't fall on the Dark Lord but on the Dark Queen. So even after the Dark Lord reset the universe, the curse still remembered its origin and why it was created. The curse was sentient, after all.
