摘要

This book is about a man called John. He died by being struck by lightning and reincarnates into another world filled with magic. At first, he saw only one mage, so he didn't know what his power is but, as the story progresses, MC understands that his advantage is imitating, and controlling every magic he sees. He can keep only a few for himself and can give the rest to his friends. Sounds nice at first, but how can he distinguish between real friends and people who only yearn for his power? Follow John on his journey filled with betrayal and hardships as he continues to push forward until he finally achieves his ambitions. (First 20 chapters are just introducing the reader to the world. And it needs to be this way to show how rare mages are.)

Chapter 1Life in a village

"Look! It's a boy."

Shouted Steven at his wife looking at his son. That was the first thing John heard after his death. He wasn't sure what was going on, but the thing he was sure about was that he, was struck by lightning and that, being struck by lightning hurts!

"Why do they wear such weird clothes? Don't tell me that I'm now living in medieval times or something?"

Thinking about how hard life back then was John felt bitter. Of course, John soon forgot about it and was already thinking about how wonderful it is to get a chance for a new beginning. That's how his life started. John was living peacefully in a small village for the first year like a normal baby, but it ended the moment he heard that something like magic existed in this world! Stories about heroes who fought with beasts by using lightning or who fought thousands of enemies alone by creating earthquakes. Of course, these stories could be fake, but people were talking about mighty mages visiting once every decade, so it's not that they were tricked right? Either way, he will find the truth in four years. Even if he wanted to, there is probably no way that he would use magic before it right? His village had around 400 people, and there wasn't even one mage among them. Even if he wasn't able to use magic, for now, it didn't mean he can't exercise. John decided that he won't waste this life, like his previous one. He won't be lazy, and even if it can be hard, he will try his best to use every moment on improving himself in some way. His ambitions were sky-high, thanks to his memories. Even if he won't be able to become strong, he will use his knowledge to gain a powerful position. This way, John spent another two years planning and exercising, even if it was hard, for him to do it at the beginning, he got used to the feeling of being tired. He learned how to speak properly, and started writing, giving a big surprise to his parents, who were uneducated when they were young, making them even more proud of their son. John wasn't talking with other kids much because it wasn't possible to make friends with someone around three years old while he was so old compared to them. Even someone around his previous age won't be able to have the same ideas because of differences in information someone who was able to use the internet and someone who wasn't. Life here wasn't that bad as John thought. But the food wasn't anything to look forward to. Nothing here was considered tasty fo John! But it's not weird since let alone spices even meat was something that John was able to eat once or twice since his birth here. If he told someone to kill a chicken that can produce eggs, just to eat its meat, he would have sounded like someone crazy here. Today was his 3rd birthday, and it would be the day that he will meet the leader of this village officially.

" Until I'm 18 years old every three years I will meet the chief of this village. It seems that it's a way for us to become familiar with him so that we will be loyal and treat him as our family. I can't expect much since he sees me as another three years old kid who saw almost nothing. I should behave like this, maybe a little more mature to impress him. After all, I still need to spend some time in this village."

On the way to the house of a chief, John was thinking about what to do. Of course, his parents were carrying him most of the way. After they were before the house of the leader first impression John had was that he was living way better than he thought. His house was big, and it looked like someone was cleaning it very often. There was a big garden in front where we're growing big trees. Autumn was already starting, so leaves were already slightly changing their colours, but there wasn't even one leaf lying on the ground. Everything was looking good until now, and a part of John was shocked. They waited for a while before man around his 40s opened them doors. He was wearing official clothes, and it seemed that he held high position here.

"Good morning, I'm Ben, and I will take you to our chief. You will need to wait for a few minutes since you are here earlier than you should."

"We are sorry we didn't know that we were troubling you."

Steven answered nervously.

"Don't worry, it happens quite often."

'It seems that annoying the chief is a bad choice since my father wants to stay on his good side so much.'

After standing for a few minutes, doors opened for them, and they heard Ben inviting them in. After getting inside a room that looked like an office. John saw a man in his 30s sitting in the main seat. Even though he was smiling, John could tell that despite his friendly appearance, he didn't care about them and was bored by this visit.

"This is the chief of our village, be quiet and don't anger him."

Hearing how serious she was, John nodded.

"I see that you're here to introduce this little boy to me, right?"

"Y-Yes! That's our son John!"

"John, come here and introduce yourself and tell me what you're good at and what you don't like to do."

'He's trying to know if I can become someone important, huh?'

"I like running, and I think writing is fun, and I don't like to draw. Why do you want to know so much about me, uncle?"

Hearing how John called him, expression of the leader looked much happier than before. He asked some questions about John his parents, and then they left. For another year, John trained his body, and now, he added some squats and other stuff like that to his daily life. He needed to visit with his parents their friends more often and forced to play with other kids more. Aside from that, nothing happened. "Ugh.. another normal day!" John woke up and got out of his parents' room to do some morning exercises. Everything was as usual until afternoon. A bell in the middle of the city rang. It meant that danger was coming and no one should leave their houses. The village was on a hill, so it was easier to see everything below. At first, everyone was confused for a second, and then everyone started to panic. It was chaos. But what everyone heard, no matter how loud was around them were screams of the guard.

"Everyone prepare to defend! A large group of bandits is coming in our direction! Call chief here! We are in trouble!"

On the opposite side where bandits stayed, a man wearing a hood smirked while saying to his subordinates.

"Don't kill anyone younger than ten! I can sense that there is a kid who can become a mage! Bring him to me! We will be rich! Hehehehe"

Disclaimer: I'd received a few complaints from some readers that my MC is not a real villain, and I have to agree; if you're looking for some complete psycho MC who burns random farmer villages down just for fun then don't read. The MC is a ruthless man who does evil things from time to time, but only to his enemies or those he considers to be true scum. He gains no joy from tormenting strangers. Also don't read if you want a story about buying s*x slaves and r*ping them, that doesn't happen in this novel. He will treat the women he wants to be with as if they were normal people, whether they're slaves or not.

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
