Chapter 39: Joe

At eight o'clock that Friday morning, Joe was sitting at his desk. He was leaning back in his chair, almost daydreaming. In his hand, he held a pencil, which he continually tapped in the palm of his other hand. Joe was so deep in thought that he hadn't noticed his editor walk up.

He finally snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Mike clear his throat. "Uh-hum."

Joe looked across his desk to see him standing there, scowling at him.

"You comfortable"? Mike asked.

Joe tapped his palm once again and shifted in his seat. "Morning, boss," he said.

Mike looked at Joe's desk. For some reason, that morning Joe had brought one of his folders from the war. After talking with Elizabeth about the pictures, he thought he should do something with them, but he wasn't sure what just yet. He had thought about showing some of them to his editor, but he still hadn't decided.

Mike looked at the folder there on the desk and then to Joe. "Are these some more pictures for me?"
