Chapter 0: Prologue

Earth - 2025

Rei POV:

It's been 5 years since the coronavirus that caused the world to stop. People isolate themselves to their home, waiting in fear of getting infected by this pandemic. While most countries in the world are able to solve this pandemic such as Japan, the one country I am living in, some country are still not able to fully exterminated the virus. This pandemic has left us a scar that will remain in our current human history.

Well, as for me, it just introduces me to the world called anime, manga, and web novels to reduce my boringness while staying at home and nothing of noteworthy is present. My name is Hashira Rei, 16 years old, and currently in the second year of my high school life. I can be said to be tall with 178 cm height and thin with 58 kg weight. I also have the usual black hair of every Japanese and brown eye.

While I watched some famous anime in my childhood such as Orange Ramen Ninja, Fruit Pirate, and Golden Star Marble Ball, it was not more than something that I do in the passing. With being exposed to the new generation of anime, manga, and web novels which consist mostly of Isekai or fantasy stories, this became my passion or it can be said to be my research I guess... However, as the old saying goes, {every bad thing will always be alright}, this whole pandemic slows down after a few months and we need to go back to school. Just like today which is my first day of school after a summer break.

Thus right now, I am on the way to Kokusai high school in Tokyo, the high school where I currently learn and have my study. But... really?

(Rei) "it's a beautiful day outside. birds are singing, flowers are blooming... on days like these, kids like me...Should be studying in school ?"

(???) "Haha rei. You don't need to reference that boney game for you to show how unwilling you are to go back to school after a summer break"

This guy is Yahiro Tetsuo, but I simply call him Tetsu. He is also your usual Japanese with black hair and black eyes, but he is taller and buffers than me with 182 cm height and 78 kg weight. He is one of the few friends that I have in school. What? Do you think I'm a loner? Although I only have 1 friend in this whole school, I cannot be called a loner right? And yes, I only have one friend which is this guy.

As for the reason why I'm in a bad mood for going back to school is that I already learn all highschool material and thus this highschool is just a waste of time. Why don't I graduate early you ask? Well, I just don't want to leave my finally earned friends in this school. Oh, and although we are close, It doesn't mean I am gay alright! I am just thinking of him as my brother that's all, I am still attracted to females if you ask me.

(Rei) "Oh, Tetsu shut up. I am just trying to increase my mood for being finally back to school after our summer holiday"

(Tetsu) "Haha, so how is your holiday? You didn't engross yourself in many books and your research right?"

(Rei) "Well it can be said to be half and half"

(Tetsu) "Huh? What do you mean half and half? Do you play games while studying? Is that what you mean?"

(Rei) "What? No! That is not what I mean, I am talking about watching some of your anime and manga that you recommend which can be considered as reading. While the half is researching magic and the supernatural as something that can be considered research."

(Tetsu) "Wow, I never expected you to be one of those magic fanatics and nerds. I mean I know that you like science, but to also like things that don't come to common sense is beyond your stereotype"

(Rei) "Haha, I don't think that magic can't be explained with science, after all just like in that movie Revenger: The END SHOW, it is said that when magic and science are taken to the highest limit, it is actually one and the same."

(Tetsu) "Well, it's up to you what you research and interested in. Although I also like magic, I just like the feeling of being stronger and also being able to impress girls."

(Rei) "Hah… You and your usual thing with girls"

(Tetsu) "What? We as a male should seek the lovingness of female, as your buddy, I am concern with your status in your social relationship"

(Rei) "Not that you are better, you still haven't got a girlfriend right?"

(Tetsu) "Who says I don't have one? Just for your information, I have 5 waifus currently you know!"

(Rei) "I don't mean your waifu! but your 3D girlfriend. Hais... forget it. You will just say your usual {I don't like normal girls but prefer the 2D fantasy girl} right?"

(Tetsu) "Hahaha! You know me right"

(Rei) "Tsk..."

Seriously, how the heck did I become friends with him is still a mystery even for me. Well after all psychology is one of the subjects that I still don't explore deeper as although I am a genius, I can't learn every single knowledge there is, right?

(Tetsu) "Anyway, what would you do if we somehow are summoned into another world as a hero?"

(Rei) "Well that's unexpected, you know that you are raising a flag right now right?"

(Tetsu) "Not like I care as I really want me to be isekai-ed."

(Rei) "Haha, well I think I am gonna be analysing the situation firsthand while also acting to be panicking as I don't want my summoner to be suspicious of my reaction of being summoned as a hero"

(Tetsu) "Huh? Why did you need to act like you are panicking?"

(Rei) "Stupid, you already know many examples of isekai, particularly the summoned type is not always the best way to be isekai-ed right? Leaving aside the usual lie for not being able to go back to your world before accomplishing what you're supposed to do after being summoned, some of the work we have has the summoner or the kingdom control the Hero using a slave collar/bracelet/crest or more to control them right?"

(Tetsu) "Right, if I remember correctly in some of the light novels, there are some that explained how the Hero and his classmates are being slaved while the protagonist somehow escaped this because He is too weak currently and exiled before being able to be enslaved."

(Rei) "Right, so my first priority is to make the summoner think that they have us all under their control while secretly gathering information about the world and their motive for our summoning as we could also be summoned simply as a super-soldier for a war. I would also be cautious of any food and item that the summoner gave me as it could be somehow inserted with a paralysis potion for us to be slaved by the crest or simply enslaved by wearing a collar or any other equipment after we are paralysed"

(Tetsu) "Well… as expected of a genius. Looks like even being isekai-ed didn't escape your usual calculating and analyzing mind"

(Rei) "Being Isekai-ed is actually dangerous, particularly when we are summoned as we face a strong person from the get-go without any strength and information in that new world. Trying to act brave or like a scoundrel similar to the 3 heroes of sword, spear, and bow in The 4 Cardinal Hero will also not help anything as we don't know the strength of the imperial guards and our summoner. We might just anger them and cause us to be subdued by them"

(Tetsu) "Right, I don't want my isekai adventure to be cut short like a side character just because I am not the main character…"

(Rei) "Bruahahaha... To think my friend here who is sought by many girls in our class would say that he is not the main character."

(Tetsu) "Like you are not also sought by many girls. I don't think you realize, but given how rich and smart you are, many girls are also interested in you just for your information. If not because you are introverted and never care about them and ignore them, you will be more popular.

(Rei) "Tsk.. it is not like I can't see that they only care about my money and inheritance and not care about me as a person. But back to the topic, if I have enough power, I really want to have some speech when I am summoned to another world to be a hero to save a kingdom"

(Tetsu) "Speech? Why would you want to do that?"

(Rei) "Well, just Imagined when you are summoned to another world and the summoner there said that you are their only chance to win the war. You are also told that you are not able to go back unless you take the magic research from demons who have a high magical talent which might or might not be able to bring you back to your world. Even the whole logic of this is stupid as, if that is true, the demon would also summon their own hero like in some light novel. But then you said something like this {then why don't you simply create a portal or gate between our world and request a formal military help to our country instead of abducting us children who never go to war?}. I think it would be hilarious to see what would happen if I said that."

(Tetsu) "hahaha. I also think it would be hilarious if you said that, but isn't that just anger them and contradict your previous action?"

(Rei) "Of course, that is when you start to threaten them with our civilization. As a leader of a country, they might be able to see through your lies, that's why you need to also insert some real facts and knowledge of our strength as people of the Earth. You can say that "we are an advanced galactic civilization" although we only ever go to the Moon and Mars, and say that "we are able to develop a teleportation device" where you imagined quantum teleportation or the blue cat robot anywhere door. Then you can say that our country will be able to trace us back to this location and save us from this situation."

(Rei) "You could also say how "Our civilization is able to destroy this whole kingdom with 1 finger" where you imagined the president that should not be named pressing the button for an intercontinental thermonuclear missile bomb and destroying a large portion of the earth. With all this threatening, I guess they will try to not offend us I guess."

(Tetsu) "That's…..I wonder why anyone never thinks about that when they are summoned to another world?"

(Rei) "I also wonder why? But well, I am not really the type to have a speech in front of many audiences and I think I'm gonna pass that as with my skills in public speaking, there is a high probability for the King or my summoner to know that I lie. This also depends on how many are being summoned, the larger the number of people being summoned, the higher the chance for this strategy to be successful, although the teleportation part needs to be improved as we still don't have a working one while most country are still researching about it" 'I can't tell him that I already built one can I?'

(Tetsu) "Right, you're not really a public speaker but...wait a minute what time is it now?"

(Rei) "7:53?....Oh crap! We only have 7 minutes let's run"

(Tetsu) "Right!"

We then rushed back to school and almost late on our first day of school. Schools start normally with no transfer student or change in teacher coming in and now we are finally having our first Lesson, Physics"

(Tetsu) "Damn, why would our first lesson with physics? This cursed subject."

(Rei) "It is not really that hard as long as you remember the formula just like math isn't? If you had studied during your summer break, I bet you are able to be better at it."

(Tetsu) "Tsktsk. That sentence coming from a smart ass guy is questionable"

(Rei) "Hahaha. Anyway, I am going to the toilet, as I don't have the time to do that this morning."

(Tetsu) "Go, just go. Not like I care about it."

(Rei) "Matsumura Sensei, may I go to the toilet?"

(Sensei) "Yes you can hashira-kun."

I left the classroom which is doing a worksheet right now to have my business in the toilet. However, I don't expect that when I come back there is a bright shining light that covers the whole classroom when I see inside from the window.

'Is that an explosion or a physics experiment that involves light? But we are having a worksheet right if I remember when I left the class?'

After a few seconds, the light disappeared along with Tetsuo, Sensei, and my whole classmates. This is how I finally connected the light with something that we discussed previously about being summoned to another world.

'Damn that Tetsuo, He really set up a flag this morning and left me in this world {no pun intended}'
