Shido knocked on the door to the principal's office, and like his regular routine, he entered and locked the door before Nezu could even reply.
"Principal mouse! Why did you want to see me?"
"You-" Nezu was about to continued speaking before he paused and sighed, "You know what, never mind. I was just curious. It's not like you to be so silent during a meeting."
"Oh...that." Shido smiled mysteriously, "Did you know that if you have too much information kept within yourself, you're bound to spill at least one of them if you talk more? That was why I kept silent so that I wouldn't spill any unneeded and top-secret information that even you wouldn't know."
"Oh? To be honest, given my position as the principal of UA, it actually brought me no benefits at all despite it being well-sough after." Nezu stopped whatever he was doing and walked towards the couch, motioning Shido to sit down as well.
"It's not as though I have any ulterior motives in being the principal of this school, but if I want to ensure that the safety of my students is guaranteed, I need to at least know what is going on." Nezu sadly smiled as he took a sip of the already prepared coffee on the table.
"But those damn old fogies actually dared to hide information from us?! The top school for grooming heroes?!" Nezu's smile disappeared as an angry mouse expression appeared on his face. His aura turned red and purple, signifying the frustration he currently felt, "How do they expect us to groom heroes safely if we can't even properly prepare for any future troubles?! At a chaotic time like this, they actually still want to hide the important information!!"
Hearing Nezu's rant, Shido's smile remained as he also took a sip of green tea. He didn't like coffee; it was too bitter for his taste. While Nezu was ranting, he was wondering why adults liked coffee so much.
After five minutes, Nezu finally calmed down, and, taking a deep breath, he said, "I'm sorry for showing you my unsightly behavior. Let's get on to the main point now, shall we?"
Shido nodded.
"So, what do you want to know?"
"For starters, do you know what happened in Deika City?"
"Yes. There was a war between the two sides. One side lost and was absorbed by the other."
"And let me guess, the league of villains was involved in this and won?"
"Smart. Now, if it was just that, it wouldn't be a bad thing. I have already controlled the outcome so that the League of Villain would be nothing more than training tools for our students. But the problem that lay here was that not only villains were involved." Shido leaned forward and spoke seriously, "Well, if you count using quirks without a license a villain, then everyone involved would be a villain."
"Couldn't you have just wiped them out? Why let it expand in the first place?" Nezu sighed and asked. If Shido wanted to let the children have practical training against the best villains, Nezu would agree. However, that was under the condition that it would guarantee the safety of the children.
But during these chaotic times, would anywhere be safe? Well, excluding Hosu City that Shido was in charge of, there wasn't anywhere else that would be considered 'safe', much less beside the top villains.
"Well, I could do that. But have you ever thought of the consequences of my actions if I were to put all 116,519 people in jail?"
At his words, Nezu was startled. After hearing the first part of his sentence, he immediately thought of one word.
Dictatorship.
The second thing he thought of was the fear people would have towards him. All that power amassed within one man—the ability to control an entire city by himself.
How frightening would that be?
Even now, the government had told Nezu to keep an eye out for Shido ever since his declaration that he would keep Hosu City safe. The government and the local Pro Hero Association, International Pro Hero Association, the world government (the UN), and every other important person that had watched Shido's declaration.
They were afraid.
But those thoughts soon went out of his mind the moment he heard the next part of the sentence.
"116,519 people? That many?!" Nezu was shocked. Although he didn't trust the new's source of having 20 people to destroy the entire city, he only expected hundreds, if not thousands, of people. 100,000 was definitely not in the range of his calculations.
"Yep. And guess what? Those 'civilians' which they interviewed on the news were actually part of the riot. They, plus another one hundred thousand civilians, wanted a 'revolution' to be able to use quirks legally and freely, saying that it was 'their right' to do so." Shido stated while Nezu went into deep thought.
"Now, why do you think the government wants us to do another internship? Because they need heroes? Maybe some of them really do. Most are unaware, while the remaining heroes are all part of that 'revolution' or 'organization' or whatever you want to call it."
Nezu frowned at Shido's words before his eyes immediately lit up.
"Because they want to spread their ideologies..." Nezu muttered gravely.
"Well, 'spreading' is overrated." Shido shrugged, "More like they want to brainwash. But that was before the war. After the war, their ideologies changed. Well, they claimed that it wasn't changed, but it was pretty obvious who was in charge now."
Both of them sighed and drank their beverages at the same time.
"So what do you propose now?" Nezu asked.
Shido raised his eyebrows, "What do you mean 'what do I propose now?'? Isn't that your job as the principal? My job is to teach and educate my students, and nothing beats having hands-on experience. So I have to thoroughly prepare my 'textbooks' and 'research materials' so that no 'mistakes' would be made."
"But-"
"Don't worry. The government has its spy in the organization, but so do we. In fact, we even have the upper hand because we know that they have a spy and even know who he is, but they don't even know we have one as well. So why don't you base your plan on that?"
Nezu didn't even know how to react anymore.
"Sigh, who is that spy?"
"Classified~."
Nezu stared at him, but Shido didn't back down and stared back at him as well, his smile never leaving his face.
"Who are the core members of the organization?"
"The organization's new name is called Paranormal Liberation Front, and their goal is to have free use of quirks like their name suggests. Their core members include nine people.
Their leader is obviously Himura.
And there are eight more members that stood beside him.
Firstly, the ex-grand commander of the Meta Liberation Army, Re-Destro, son of Destro.
Second, Trumpet, one of the ex-leader of the Meta Liberation Army.
Third, Skeptic, one of the ex-leader of the Meta Liberation Army.
Fourth, Curious, one of the ex-leader of the Meta Liberation Army.
Fifth, Geten, a cryokinesis quirk user with power on the same level as his counterpart, Dabi.
Sixth, Dabi, the flame user.
Seventh, Twice, the clone user.
Eighth, Tomura, Himura's twin brother.
Apart from these eight members, there are also various government workers, heroes, villains, and civilians from all over Japan that also fight for the Paranormal Liberation Front."
"Sigh, so many things..." Nezu rubbed his forehead in frustration before continuing to ask, "Then what else do I need to know?"
"Hmm...you don't have to deal with information leaking since the spy has already leaked many details about many heroes," Disregarding the horrified look on Nezu's face, Shido continued, "You also don't have to care about the spy since he had helped with class A's development. But you do need to know this."
Shido's broom appeared in mid-air, and from it, a book appeared. The book was reddish in color, and the words 'Special Abilities Liberation Front' was boldly printed at the top in black.
"And what's this?" Nezu curiously asked as he picked up the book.
"The ideology that the organization is following," Shido said simply, not caring to explain more.
He waited for about a minute or so while Nezu skimmed through and read what was written.
Nezu closed the book and shut his eyes. Shido thought that today's information might be too much for him to handle and decided to stop here for today.
"Alright. I think it's time for me to go. Take your time and rest up Principal mouse. Christmas is coming soon, after all!" Shido stood up and advised the tired mouse.
"Wait, wait." Nezu opened his eyes and stared at Shido, "On a different note, are you planning to take in any internships this time round?"
Shido shook his head.
"Nope! I may love them and all, but I don't even have a building of my own. Plus, Hosu City is safe as it is."
"Then can you at least take care of one of the students?"
Seeing the mouse asking earnestly and wanting nothing more than the safety of his students, Shido thought for a while and sighed a little.
"I'm planning to crash at Endeavor-, I mean, annoy-, I mean, work together with Endeavor sometime later." Shido had to correct himself twice. No one must know that the number two hero was slacking off at the number one hero's place.
"Todoroki would probably go to his father's agency, so I could help out a little. Bakugo would most likely be heading there as well since his pride wouldn't allow him to work under any ragtag hero. Since the number four hero is gone, the number three hero is not his type, and I'm not taking anyone; the only options left are either Endeavor, Edgeshot, or Mirko.
Edgeshot doesn't suit his needs, and Mirko never works with anyone, so he'll probably tag along with Todoroki. Midoriya would probably go back to Nighteye or Gran Torino, and the rest has their own respective heroes they'll return to.
So like it or not, I'll probably be taking care of those two troublemakers."
"That's reassuring. At least two candidates for the next generation of the Big Three would be under your care."
"Oh? You're so confident that they could be part of the Big Three? You know that they're nowhere close to their standard right now, right?"
"Of course. But that is what school is for, isn't it? To nurture them to the best of our capabilities."
Shido smirked, "Even though you're a mouse, you care more about humans than some humans do despite all you went through. Talk about irony."
Nezu wasn't bothered by what Shido had said and just smiled, "What can I say? Children shouldn't bear the sins of adults. Part of the reason I chose to become the principal is to nurture them to the correct path and not lead them astray. One prominent example of this is Himiko Toga.
If her parents and the adults beside her hadn't chosen to suppress her quirk and desire, she would have become an excellent hero made for spy or infiltration work."
"But they did, and look at where this got her? In jail. Her parents are unhappy, we're unhappy, and she's unhappy." Nezu sighed at the poor girl.
"One generation's mistakes were passed down to the next, which is then further passed down again. Over four hundred years, it's hard to change some thinking ways ingrained into their very blood and soul. Why do you think anti-mutant religions exist? Who gets to decide what is a 'villainous' quirk and a 'good' quirk? Is a healing quirk used to heal villains a good quirk? Or a bad quirk? Does a quirk that forces people to tell the truth a good quirk or a nasty quirk?"
"Well, that is true. But my goal won't change." Nezu said resolutely, "Even if I fail, I'm sure that someone else will step up and take over."
Shido looked at Nezu in silence before shaking his head.
"If that is what you wish. I pray that you would succeed," Shido said before muttering under his breath, "However unfeasible your dream is."
Seeing that there was nothing more to talk about, Shido left, waving his hand without even turning his head back.
Nezu picked up the book once more and sighed.
'Next year is going to be one hectic year.'
After five minutes of deep thought, Nezu walked towards the glass window behind his desk and looked at the main gate, where he saw Shido and Eri walking out together.
"Sigh, I hope Shido will still be here to help us by then..."
