Chapter 91: I have no title...

"Shido! You're back!" Eri excitedly exclaimed as she jumped into Shido's arms.

"I'm home." Shido's playful smile changed into a gentle one as his eyes laid on the girl in his arms.

Eri snuggled into his embrace for a while before she eventually let go.

It was their daily routine; every time Shido comes home after a day's work, Eri would always be there at the doorstep, welcoming him home. She was like a faithful housewife awaiting her husband's return.

"How was today?" Eri asked as she made her way to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

"It's not bad. The students were taking their provisional hero license and then..."

Shido started to tell her all about his day as he made his way to the table. It wasn't that he didn't want to help with dinner. It was because he couldn't cook...

The last time he tried to cook without transforming random things into food, the 'food' tasted as good as garbage left to rot for several days under the rain.

The appearance itself was the same as any other typical dish, but the taste was the opposite of what it looked like. In the end, Shido ate his own food and had diarrhea for an hour, even though minor poisons were supposed to be burnt off by his blue flames.

After that, he wasn't allowed to cook anymore, and Eri took over.

"So the number three and number student managed to fail the test?" Eri giggled and wanted to confirm with Shido.

"Yes. Katsuki probably failed because the 'victims' didn't like how he screamed at them to take care of themselves." Shido laughed as he recalled how Katsuki looked when he got back his results.

"Hehe....what else was there?"

By this time, they had already talked for over fifteen minutes, enough time for Eri to prepare a simple meal for two. Toshinori was living under the care of the other teachers in school. Thus there were only two of them in this house for now.

"Oh yeah, I also captured a villain who was infiltrating by disguising as a student from Shiketsu High."

As both of them enjoyed their meal while conversing with each other, Shido suddenly got a call.

"Hello?"

Shido's voice was a little muffled as his mouth currently contained a mouthful of rice.

An irritated voice burst out from the phone, "What are you doing now?"

"Oh! It's Aizawa-sensei! How are you doing? I'm currently eating. Why are you calling me at this time for?"

"Do you know what two of your students are doing now?!"

Unlike his usual monotonous voice, Aizawa's current tone carried a tint of annoyance and irritation, as though somebody had just awoken him in the middle of this sleep.

"Sleeping or playing around in the common area? Or maybe peeking on some girls?" Shido casually replied as he took another piece of fried chicken into his mouth.

"I wish they were peeping! Those two boys, Bakugo and Midoriya, are outside their dormitories and fighting their asses off!" Aizawa's agitated voice came out.

"And?" Shido didn't see the problem with it. It was typical for boys to have some pent-up stress. There were other ways to get rid of it, but fighting is usually good to take any heavy feelings off their chest.

"And?! Can you go there and stop them?!"

"I'm busy (eating). Why don't you go yourself?"

"You think I don't want to? The other teachers who were supposed to be watching the cameras are all slacking off, and at least one of us has to pay attention to the surveillance footage!"

"Wow, you're so hardworking. You should get more rest." Shido didn't pay attention to any other detail and advised him.

"Y-You...." Aizawa eventually calmed down and grumbled, "Fine. I'll do this myself."

Shido was indeed too lazy to deal with this now. He just left everything for Aizawa to deal with. After all, it was just a little fight between two students and not some major, breath-taking fight.

"Alright. If there isn't anything else, good night!" Shido chirped before hanging up.

After that minor and not-so-important call, Shido continued his dinner before hanging out with Eri.

On the other side of the phone, Aizawa angrily hung up the phone before preparing to tie those two up.

"Grrr...those annoying brats....making my life so much harder..." Aizawa grumbled as he went towards the training ground.

Just outside the room, however, he met All Might.

"Aizawa? Where are you going?" Toshinori asked curiously.

"It's Midoriya and Bakugo again...they're fighting at the training grounds..." Aizawa sighed and replied to him.

"Indeed, they are. But I've been thinking about those two since before school started...so could you let me handle this? I'll bring them back in a jiffy."

"You sure about that?" Aizawa was a little surprised at Toshinori's answer, but he reluctantly conceded under Toshinori's insistence, "Fine then."

And true enough, about ten minutes later, Midoriya and Bakugo found themselves wrapped up in Aizawa's scarf while sitting on a chair.

After a bit of context that All Might had given Aizawa, he thought for a while before deciding.

"Hm...but letting them get away with breaking the rules isn't something I can do. There will be a fitting punishment. Who started it?" Aizawa glared at the two perpetrators and asked.

"Me." Katsuki's instantly replied.

"But I also...got pretty worked up..." Izuku admitted as well while looking a little guilty.

"You're on lockdown! Four days for Bakugo, three days for Midoriya! During that time, you'll clean the communal spaces! Morning and night!! Also, I want written apologies from both of you!!"

Aizawa spat out and continued his ranting, "And head to the infirmary before those injuries get any worse! But don't rely on the old lady's quirk unless it's major. You got hurt on your own, so figure out how to get better on your own!"

After his long tirade, he sighed before commanding, "That's all! Go to sleep!"

"Shido, gather at the field now. I'm going to make an announcement at the opening ceremony." Nezu knocked on the staffroom door before entering and telling Shido.

"Oh? Okay." Shido didn't think much of it and assumed that Nezu would give one of his long, boring speeches again.

Once he went down to the field, he spotted the entire school present. From year one all the way to year three, from the business course to the support course to the support course to the hero course, every single student was present (except Izuku and Katsuki, who were on lockdown from Aizawa's punishment).

He noticed that all the teachers were present and spread out, standing in one straight line on both sides of the podium.

Once everyone has settled down, Nezu went on top and started his speech.

"Hello! It's everyone's favorite small mammalian principal! Lately, the fur I pride myself..."

And as Shido had already expected, Nezu, the obnoxiously long-winded principal, started blabbering about super irrelevant things. Shido noticed that the students had started to talk amongst themselves.

As a teacher, he was supposed to stop them and ask them to focus. However, Shido, being Shido, decided to ignore that scene and let ou a yawn himself.

After five minutes of blabbering about fur, diet, and sleep, the principal finally went to the main point, and everyone stopped talking and focused.

"And the most significant recent disruption to our lifestyles, as you all know...was the incident that took place this past summer."

Nezu started emphasizing the effects of the loss of All Might and encouraged the students to be more aware of the looming threats.

He finally ended his speech by motivating them and said, "The business course, the general studies course, the support course, and the hero course. Do not forget...that it's all of you who will inherit this society."

"I kept it nice and short, huh? That'll prove them all wrong about me." Nezu commentated as he walked down the podium.

Shido, who was beside him, chuckled, "I don't know what your definition of 'short' is, but I don't think five minutes of random content and three minutes of actual speech is considered 'short'."

"And that's a total of eight minutes only. How much shorter do you want it to be?" Nezu snorted.

"How about you go straight to the point and not talk about your fur, your diet, and your sleep? Maybe that would help in reaching the 'short' goal you have in mind." Shido suggested.

"I see...thank you Shido, I'll keep that in mind next time." Nezu thought for a while before thanking him for the advice.

'How does this show his intelligence?' Shido thought internally. Maybe he's actually stupid in EQ instead?

Shido thought that this gathering would be finished, so he was about to leave when Nezu stopped him.

"Stop. Hound Dog is going to say something."

"Huh? Okay..." Shido didn't think much of it and just stayed beside Nezu.

Picking up the microphone, Hound Dog started talking, no, barking into it.

"Grrr....yesterrrrr.....grrrrrrrrrr.....unaccustomed barks bark bark!! Dorm bark bark bark life bark!!" He growled agitatedly before ending with a loud howl.

Vlad King went on stage and patted Hound Dog on the back, calming him down as Hound Dog panted heavily.

"Wow..." Shido was speechless at this announcement, "I have been with him for two, three years now, and I have not seen him this agitated before."

Shido barely understood what he wanted to convey, and looking at the students' blank faces, he knew that not a single word was conveyed.

"Um...what he meant to say was, 'We had a fight between students last night. We understand that some of you are still unaccustomed to dorm life, but we ask you to control yourselves and make this work for everyone.'"

After everyone got over their shock that Vlad King could easily 'translate' what Hound Dog had said, Nezu went back on stage to dismiss the school back to their classes.

"All right...we're back to our regular classes. A lot's happened. Too much, really, but now it's business as usual. Today in class...we'll just have a lecture, but you guys can look forward to some even harsher training throughout the second semester."

After saying this part, Aizawa immediately turned towards Mina, and his hair floated scarily, "What was that, Ashido?"

"Eep! Haven't had that feeling in a while!"

Hearing Mina's reaction, Shido had a weird expression on his face as he wondered if Mina was a masochist who likes getting scolded.

"May I ask a question, sensei?" Tsuyu raised her hand and asked, "We just heard about work studies at the opening ceremony. Could you explain that a bit more?"

Aizawa rubbed his head as he thought for a while.

"I was planning to go over that at a later date, but well, I suppose it makes sense to explain it now." Aizawa said before looking at Shido.

"What."

"Explain."

"Why me?!"

"Cause you're the assistant teacher? So do your work as one, which is to assist me." Aizawa gave a small grin that went unnoticed by everyone.

"Grr....fine." Shido sighed tiredly at this lazy teacher before turning to face the students who had awkward expressions seeing the two teachers argue in front of them.

"Put simply, it's hero work outside of school. Simply put, it's a more immersive version of the internships you already did with pro heroes."

Ochaco wondered for a while before raising her hand. She asked agitatedly, "So what was the point of trying so hard at the sports festival?!"

"The sports festival was for you to build up your networking connections so that your hero work studies would proceed smoother in the future." Shido replied calmly and shrugged, "It's all at your discretion to start with and is unrelated to classes here. Those who failed to get scouted at the festival will have a hard time finding positions anyway."

"I haven't been here in UA for long, but I researched a little about it. In the past, every agency in the country would seek out applicants, but when the competition to win over UA students caused many problems, things changed to become what it is today. If there is nothing else, please take a seat." Shido expounded to Ochaco.

"Sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion..." Ochaco bowed her head and apologized before sitting down.

"Earning those provisional licenses will give you a more in-depth experience when it comes to this stuff. However, note that ever since the founding of our current society, there are virtually no cases where first-years get a license." Shido cautioned the students, "With the sudden increase in villain activity, we're considering whether or not the first-years should have work studies."

"Alright, we'll revisit this later, at which point you'll get a more complete explanation and some actual testimonials...when circumstances allow." Aizawa concluded before turning towards the door, "Right...sorry to keep you waiting, Mic."

As if on cue, Present Mic entered with his usual bang and started the class while Aizawa left. Of course, Shido was the assistant teacher, so he remained inside and helped Present Mic with whatever he needed.
