Days went by and they reached the end of the second month they had calculated. In just a month, the test is going to start, so Reya started training earnestly. Her combat training was going really well. She was able to pin July down in just five minutes.
Her dexterity and flexibly was also improving drastically. Presently Reya were having a bout in the training room with July.
"Did you modify her again," Reya panted as she held back her string kick.
Clive from behind the observation room nodded. "Yes, I wanted her to be more intelligent and less predictive. She is the improvised version of the July. I have installed titanium arms and legs. It was safe to say her kicks were...very strong." He whispered through the microphone.
Reya gritted her teeth and tried to throw her down, yet the robot punched her in the gut and jumped two steps away from her. "Darn you, Clive!" she cussed and deflected one of the July's strong punches.
"And you are welcome," he mumbled with a small smile.
Reya glared at him and charged at the robot. For a second July stood frozen, but she moved to the side to dodge her attack. Reya somehow was able to anticipate this. When the robot least expected she accelerated her hands and punched July's right in her chin.
The robot flew in air and crushed onto the metal ceiling.
"sorry July,"
"its....its...it's okay, Rey—a," the robot stuttered from above.
Reya grimaced and tried to pull her down, but it looked like she was stuck there tightly. She threw a worried glance at Clive and whispered, "Help her down,"
Rolling his eyes, Clive helped pull her down from the ceiling. He checked up on her and found nothing wrong. "Her cognitive response is damaged other than that she is good as new," he mumbled, flicking his glasses up his nose bridge.
Reya squatted down next to her and held July's shoulders. "Sorry again, July. I didn't mean it," she whispered with a grimace.
"You do know that she does not have feelings, right?" Clive mumbled with a quizzical expression.
"So what, I have to apologise for my mistakes," Reya shrugged and helped the robot to her feet. "This time, let's try racing." She whispered cheerfully.
The robot nodded and dashed to the racecourse.
Reya too cheerfully followed her around.
"I will be your judge today. This course is 100 meters, whoever comes first shall....." Clive paused, scratching the bandage on his chin.
"Shall what? Are you going to reward us?" Reya perked her ears up.
Not being able to think of any apt reward, Clive mumbled, "You are already mooching off of me. Isn't it more of a reward?"
Reya nodded. "Fair enough. But what about July, what is her reward?"
"Reya she is not a person," Clive added again in case the stupid girl did not understand.
"Still, what is her reward?"
Clive sighed out loud. "I will give her premium oil that is used as rocket fuel. I think her system might be compatible with it,"
"Y—yes!" the robot pumped a fist in the air.
Clive saw this and frowned. "You are teaching her too many human emotions. It is not good in the long run. I have not programmed in such a way but she is evolving to fast, I might not be able to control with way her main frame might react to…."
"yada yada, start the race already,"
Frustrated by her, Clive blew the whistle.
Both of the sped up through the race field, only leaving a trail of dust behind.
Clive wiped the dust off of his glasses and sighed again. "They are getting out of control,"
The system at the end of the course had already computed the results and shouted, "The winner is...Reya, with timing of 1 second,"
"yeeaaa!!" Reya hooted and jumped around her robot friend.
The system continued its announcement, "followed by July, with the timing of 3 seconds,"
"Wow, July, you got fast," Reya cheerfully hugged the hunk of metal.
"I made her fast. Where is my hug," Clive whispered bitterly from the sideline.
Reya gazed at him with her eyebrows raised. "YOU… you want a hug? That's so weird, after you shave you have become super weird," she mumbled sceptically.
With a small blush Clive died hr accusations. "I don't want a hug. Darn it! comes do your water tank training," he shouted and shed out the room.
